ELIZABETH’S POV

“Return to your station - now!” Aaron snapped at Heather and Anna immediately. His voice was sharp, cold and authoritative like he hadn't just asked for my permission to kiss me in a seductive whisper.

Anna quickly ducked her head backwards while Heather genuflected before scurrying away with that “I had just seen something unbelievable” look still on her face.

When we were alone, Aaron and I laughed - awkwardly. At the interruption, the kiss, everything that had just happened.

“Well, that was…” I scratched my head nervously. “Awkward?”

“Sorry about that. I should warn them not to interrupt us next time” he said.

My tummy pooled with excitement. “Next time?” I asked.

He raised an eyebrow. “You wouldn't want this to happen again?”

“I want it” my response was too quick and too desperate, much more than I intended.

He smiled, the kind that made my heart flutter. So warm, so genuine, so beautiful. We just stared at each other, not saying a word.

This moment was beautiful

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   Chapter 69

AARON’S POV.As I drove home, Vivienne called me. And this time I picked.“You have been avoiding my calls!” she screamed into my ears so loudly that I had to move the phone away. “Aaron, if you think you can use me and dump me so carelessly because you have a new trophy wife at home then you must be joking. I, Vivienne Stone refuse to be tossed around like some random piece of trash!”She was angry, and truthfully, even though I didn't like her tone, her anger was very much justified. I kept quiet.“So you're just going to pick up and not say a word to me huh?” she shouted again.“I'm going to respond to you if only you can tone down your voice a notch,” I said calmly.“You don't get to tell me how to speak after you have ignored me for almost a week!” she retorted, then she burst out crying.I sighed. Could I just catch a break for crying out loud? The main reason I came back home was to relax and spend time with my wife, not this drama with my dad and now Vivienne. My wife.In my

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   I had to see her

AARON’S POVI sat at the edge of my hotel bed, fully dressed in my tux, staring at the clock ticking. My next meeting was in less than an hour, and I should have left now if I wanted to be there early.I was never late for a meeting. But I wasn't interested in the meeting. I wasn't thinking about the outcome of the meeting or the strategies I had to put into place to score the investors. All I could think about was her.Elizabeth.I had planned to return home days ago, but each day, something new came up. If it wasn't another board meeting it was a last-minute investor call or a dinner with a stubborn partner. I pushed my return again and again. At first, it made sense, because business first, always. This wasn't the first time I was extending my trip based on business. But this time, it didn't feel right. Something kept pulling me home.I couldn't explain it at first. I told myself I was just tired, and that I needed a break. But deep down, I knew the truth.I missed her.I didn't kn

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   Chapter 66

Aaron called back at night, as promised. My heart leaped for joy as I saw his name on the screen and I picked faster than I blinked. The call was long, warm, and refreshing.I had sent him a video of my room earlier and he replied with; ‘Davina is really good at her job’I guess that was his way of saying the room looked beautiful. The message had sounded formal as if he were talking to his business partner, but I didn't mind. It was the first time we were texting anyway. The way he had loosened up talking to me over the phone, he would definitely loosen up with texting soon.I asked how his day was, and he answered me. I asked what he had for dinner and he told me, he asked me as well and I told him I had some grilled shrimp and salad that Heather had made.“You didn't have your usual pasta today?” he asked. He noticed.I smiled, no, I added another layer of smile to the one I already had before I replied to him.“No, I decided to try something different. But I'm definitely having pa

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   Chapter 65

I woke up that morning in the best mood I’d ever been in weeks. My cheeks still felt sore from all that smiling I did last night, as the phone call I had with Aaron continued ringing in my head like my favourite song.I still couldn't believe that Aaron called me, and it wasn't to scold or admonish me, but to check up on me. We talked. I couldn't believe it. He said he’d call again. I looked forward to it.I wondered when he’d call, morning, afternoon, or night? Regardless, I had my phone by my side at all times, not failing to check it every time to see if I missed a call.Even Davina, the interior designer noticed.“Do you need to make an important call ma'am? You can go ahead, we will just continue later” she said.I shook my head at her with a smile. “I’m just expecting a call, but let's continue regardless,” I said. The decoration was going smoothly. My room had magically transformed from a plain lifeless guestroom to something heavenly and homely. The once plain cream walls had

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   Phone call and butterflies

ELIZABETH’S POVThe interior designer and I discussed what I wanted for my room, and she got to work immediately. I was so excited and touched that Aaron had taken into consideration my complaint about the room and immediately sent a designer to correct it.It made my heart flutter, he wasn't so bad anyway, and it made me like him even more.I had to temporarily move to another room while the designer worked on mine, I toyed with the idea of sleeping in Aaron’s room since he wasn't here but I killed the idea real quick. Let's not push boundaries. So I took another room.I stared at his number saved to my phone as “Husband Jerk” and wondered if I could call, or text… to thank him and maybe also check up on him. Was I even allowed to do that? I didn't want to come off desperate or eager for his attention.“If I just send a thank you text, it wouldn't be that bad would it?” I asked out loud to myself.“I mean I should say thank you. Or should I just wait for him to get back? He's getting
