Gigi looked around the room. After what happened in the janitor's closet at the McIntosh building, Fabian had brought her to this condo. It was different from the condo she knew before. The place was dull and empty, lacking any decorations to lift the depressing atmosphere.

Was it a new place?

Fabian sat opposite Gigi, his eyes never leaving her. It was as if he was still in awe that he had finally found her.

“What happened to you?”

This was a difficult question for Gigi to answer. How could she tell him that his father-in-law wanted her dead because he saw her as a threat to Vira? And how could she tell him that her family had died because of that devilish McIntosh?

It was too hard for Gigi to confess all of that to Fabian. That's why it was better not to tell him at all.

Gigi cleared her throat and looked away, unable to bear his intense gaze. His eyes were like fire, burning her from the ins

As Gigi was setting the table for dinner, she suddenly felt Fabian wrap his arms around her from behind. His strong arms encircled her small waist, and he buried his face in the crook of her neck. “I still can’t believe you’re really here with me,” he whispered, pressing gentle kisses to her neck. The tickle of his beard against her sensitive skin made her shiver. Gigi straightened slightly, but didn’t push him away. She let him hold her like that. She missed him too. She leaned back into his firm body and closed her eyes. His arms tightened around her, and she could feel how much he had longed for her—just as much as she longed for him. Gigi felt happy, even though a part of her knew that Fabian could become an obstacle in what she was trying to do. She knew he’d probably try to stop her once he found out how dangerous her revenge plan really was. Even she wasn’t sure if she was ready for it.

Fabian looked at Gigi, sleeping soundly on the sofa after crying herself to sleep. He felt pity and guilt. She had been through so much, and Fabian knew how much she loved her family. He regretted not having met them before. He wished he had known Gigi's daughter, Pia. Although Gigi had hidden the truth about her daughter from him, he could have at least known the child. Fabian sighed deeply. He pulled a cigar from his pocket and lit it. His head ached terribly at times like these. He let Gigi sleep on the sofa. She looked stressed but still beautiful. He just didn't know what had happened to her skin. Fabian took out his phone and dialed De Santo's number. He needed to talk to him. Now that he had found Gigi, he wouldn't hesitate to confront that old man. He would use every means necessary, legal or illegal, to put that man in jail. “Good evening, Mr. Romano.” De Santos greeted Fabian. Fabian

“Wait.” Gigi gently pushed against Fabian’s chest to create some distance between them. Though she liked the heat his body radiated, she felt it was inappropriate to be so close. A strange heat was slowly igniting within her. The space they were in was cramped. It was a storage room for cleaning supplies. Mops and dirty mop squeezers were all around them, but Fabian didn't seem to care. He shoved them aside to make room. Gigi’s hand moved from Fabian’s chest to his stubbled jaw. His beard and mustache were thick; he clearly hadn't been taking care of himself. He looked thinner than the last time she saw him, and it worried her. Was he eating properly? she wondered. Gigi’s heart ached at the thought that he was like this because he missed her and she wasn't with him. Maybe if she had been by his side, he wouldn't be like this. But another part of her mind screamed that he was married, so it was unlikely she was the reason. F

Outside McIntosh Realty was a complete circus. Fabian could barely find a spot to park with the sea of people crowding the entrance. The scandal they’d just seen on the news was one of the biggest of the year, and everyone wanted a piece of it. Reporters, cameramen, and journalists swarmed the area, making it nearly impossible for Fabian to push through. Thankfully, Markus had caught up with him in the parking lot earlier and handed him a baseball cap. Fabian ditched his coat, unbuttoned his polo a bit to look more casual, and pulled the cap low over his face. He let out a deep sigh as he finally made it into the building’s lobby. The guard immediately let him in, clearly recognizing him. “Good morning, Mr. Romano,” the guard greeted. Fabian gave a quick nod and hurried straight to the elevator. In his rush, he didn’t notice the woman approaching from the other direction. She was pulling a mop bucket filled with

“Sir! Sir!” Markus burst into Fabian’s office, his voice loud, as if a hundred monsters were chasing him. He was breathless and looked burdened by a huge problem. The CEO of Crown Builders, Inc. was busy signing papers. Fabian was startled by his secretary’s loud voice. One of the things he hated most was noise in his office lobby. Fabian glared at his secretary standing at the office door. “What the f*ck is wrong with you?” he irritably scolded him. But Markus ignored his boss’s anger. He hurriedly approached Fabian. “Look at this, Mr. Romano. Quickly!” Fabian’s brow furrowed at his secretary’s behavior. This was unlike him; he was usually reserved and formal. Markus showed him his phone. A video was playing on the screen. He pressed the screen to replay it from the beginning. It was a recorded audio with no background noise. The laughter of two men could be
