Rose had the lab results in her hands that morning. She sat across from the doctor, her heart in turmoil. The doctor explained her mother’s condition in detail.

In short, recovery was far from possible. To even hope for improvement, Rose would need to spend a significant amount of funds.

Rose felt like her legs were about to give out. Would Romilda help her again?

“Doctor, will my mother recover soon?” Rose asked anxiously.

"We still need to monitor her condition, Miss."

Rose could only nod, feeling defeated. Her mind spun with possibilities—how could she save her mother?

"Rose, Mom still needs more money," she said, her voice breaking. “What should I do?”

Romilda, looking furious, rushed toward Rose and pulled her away from the door. "“Are you an idiot? How did Matteo find out your mom was here?" Romilda hissed.Rose shook her head, confused. "I don't know, Roe. I didn’t tell him anything about Mom."“If he finds out we’re twins, I swear I’ll kill your mother right now!”Romilda opened the bathroom door and quickly slipped inside to hide. Dinner was painfully quiet. The only sound was the clinking of silverware as the three siblings ate in silence. Nicole glanced at Matteo, who looked visibly uneasy. It seemed as if something was weighing heavily on their big brother's mind."Matteo?" Nicole called softly. He looked up from his plate to meet her gaze. "Yes?""I know we were kind of awful earlier. I’m sorry.” Nicole turned to Letty, who looked indifferent. "Letty...""All right," Letty grumbled. "Sorry."Matteo understood why Letty was so angry. Her marriage had fallen apart because of Romilda. Matteo rubbed his sore arm. He couldn’t believe that Romilda had fought back with so much strength. In fact, he suspected that she was holding back. This only added to his confusion. And one more thing...“Where’s Romilda’s tattoo?” Matteo muttered.Matteo was sure he had once seen a small tattoo on her left shoulder. Although he couldn’t remember the design, he knew it had definitely been there. Yet, when her body was exposed earlier, it was gone entirely.Had she gotten it removed? Matteo wondered.Just then, Rose stepped out of the cabin, her hands clutching her chest. She climbed into the car without saying a word.No sobs, no sound—just puffy eyes.Matteo felt disgusted as he looked at the woman beside him. She acted like an innocent girl who had been traumatized by almost being violated. But the truth was that Matteo hadn’t even thought of going that far.How many men had Romilda already slept with? The mere thought made Matteo nauseous, especially the idea that she had once war

Rose sighed but was grateful for the fresh change of clothes. After taking a shower—feeling refreshed and somewhat relieved—Rose got dressed. But now she wasn't sure what to do. No one spoke to her. She had been ignored, confined to the room as if she didn't exist in the Cavanaugh household.Even food was delivered on a tray and left at her door as if she were a prisoner."Maybe I should get out," Rose muttered to herself.Leaving the room didn't make her feel any better. The following day, Rose's bedroom door was banged on from outside. She hadn't slept all night or eaten lunch or dinner. She felt weak as she dragged herself to open the door and found another maid waiting impatiently."You're expected in the family room," the maid said curtly.Rose hadn't showered or even changed. But who could she ask for help? Rose followed the maid with no choice, deeply embarrassed by her messy appearance. The Cavanaugh siblings and two unfamiliar men were already seated in the family room.
