Chapter 11

Evren's POV

Somehow, seeing Liora flustered makes me happy. Now, imagine my joy at seeing her face turn bright red with embarrassment when her daughter asks if I'm going to be her daddy.

Liora and I haven't spoken about this yet, although she doesn't know I plan to take her child as my own. Having a little fun won't hurt, would it?

“Little flower, you can ask Mommy that, okay? She'll tell you if I'm going to be your daddy.”

Marek rolls his eyes at me. He knows exactly what I'm doing—putting her in a tight spot for my own entertainment. Hell yeah.

I feel daggers glaring into my skin from where Liora stands. Selina is fast, running toward her mother to ask if I'm going to be her daddy. Unfortunately for me, Liora seems to have caught on to my plan because she just pleads for one of the maids to help her daughter to their room.

Oops. That's another thing that'll get my little kiss thief hate me. Now, I can't wait for her reaction.

Once Selina is gone, her smile drops, and the

12Liora's POV“You can open the rest of the buttons if you want. Oh heavens. Who does he even think he is? He's not the least bit attractive. He's just... umm... argghh!” I groan, dumping my book away.It falls to the ground with a thud, and I run to pick it up, making sure I didn't tear my favorite storybook because of Evren. When I see no issue with it, a sigh of relief escapes my lips. “Oh, my baby. I'm glad you're okay.”“I didn't know you talk alone. I'll need to Google to make sure it isn't hereditary. Plus, don't tell me I'll have to compete with a book.”I whirl around fast, and oh shit! Did I say he wasn't attractive? I must have been under the influence then because, wow, this guy is all definitions of sexy.Freshly showered, curls messy, and his silver-grey eyes boring into my soul, I have to admit. I might just accept one clause in the contract. Just one.But then, nothing good lasts forever, right? Because while I'm ogling the hottie in front of me, his arrogant, deep, g

Chapter 13Liora's POVMy eyes flutter open, a small smile stretching across my face. For some reason, last night was the best night of my life in a long while. No nightmares, no fear of the dark, plus I didn't wake up even once. I slept like a baby."Such a bright, beautiful morning," I smile, opening my hands to bask in the early morning sunlight filtering through the windows."Hey, baby. Wake up, sleepyhead. It's time to–ahhhhh!!" I scream, almost falling off the bed if not for Evren's hand catching me by my waist. Turning around with wide eyes, I notice his face is extremely close to mine–so close that I feel the warmth of his breath against my skin. The events of last night rush to my brain like a flash flood, making me scramble to get out of his grip. I thought I slept with Selina.Damn it. I called him baby."Let go of me," I groan, trying to free myself from his grasp. Instead of following instructions, he wraps both arms around me, pulling me onto his lap. I try to wriggle, b

Chapter 14Liora's POVFunny how just a few weeks ago, I never would have imagined myself wearing a 24-carat pink diamond ring, which costs enough to feed generations. And yet, here I am, being threatened into wearing one.“Oh my heaven!“ Arianna squeals. “Girl, that's like the best thing ever. So gorgeous. You're lucky, and I'm jealous. Still happy for you, though.”I roll my eyes. “There's nothing to be jealous about. I'm only wearing this to show his family I'm his bride.”Arianna narrows her eyes, watching me intently. “You don't sound happy about that. Do you perhaps want it to be real, huh?”While she wiggles her brows, I facepalm. Real? With such an arrogant jerk? Nope. I'll pass.“I'm more anxious about meeting his family, girl. You've watched the news before. They're not to be messed with.”Passing me a faint smile, Arianna says, “Girl, I don't think Evren would have invited you to go with him if he wasn't sure you'd handle it. He will be by your side, so you have nothing to

Chapter 15Evren's POVDamn. I've kissed just one girl in my entire life. Maybe it makes my comparison unfair because I don't have much experience in that field, but Liora Wilder's lips are the sweetest, softest, and tastiest thing I've ever had in my life. She tastes like strawberries. Now I know what I'll be doing every morning, afternoon, and even—Thank God for my fast reflexes. I catch her knee in time. My shocked eyes bore into her glaring ones.I can't believe this hellcat almost kneed me in the balls. My precious jewels. Not like they matter much. She's already pregnant with my one and only kid.“Hellcat, seriously?“ I groan, still holding her leg. “You don't wanna do that. My family won't appreciate you hurting me like this.“As expected, she scoffs and pushes me away. “Why? Because you're a big baby? Okay. Remind me to aim for the face next time. And what part of ‘do not touch me’ is so hard to understand?“Like hell. Her stupid rule will never matter to me. I'm Evren Valesc

Chapter 16Liora's POVI've seen a lot of people change moods, but not as fast as Evren’s. If he had been happy, I'd have said he did a 180, but this is a 90.“Dang it, I should have known,“ he mutters under his breath, his grip on my hand tightening. It's not painful, but firm enough to know he's not happy. Even his eyes lose a bit of that silver. The lady hurls herself into his arms before I can get a good look at her face. All I manage to see is her beautiful, shiny blonde hair that rests smoothly on her back. For some reason, my chest twists as he makes no move to detach himself from her.Tears even sting the corners of my eyes when his arms go around her slim waist. They look beautiful and perfect. Finally, after what seems like hours—long, torturous hours—they separate from their embrace. Evren’s face returns to its hard mask, and I get a good glimpse of the lady's face.Whoa.The phrase "epitome of beauty" was made for this girl. With bright green eyes and the smoothest skin I'

I think I overheard the maids saying some of the ingredients were imported from different countries. Yet, the tension around the table is thicker than the appetizing chicken I can't stop staring at.I'm not staring because I wish I could tear through it while sitting on the floor in my room. At least that's not the only reason. I'm staring because it's the only way I can avoid looking into the faces of the people at the table.Evren—whose eyes haven't left me since I returned from the bathroom after rinsing my mouth.Ronan—who has been glaring at where Evren's hands are. Chapter 25 Liora's POV “What the hell were you doing, girl?” Arianna asks from where she's sitting beside me. We are in the waiting room at the hospital, unable to see Aunt now because the doctors are carrying out some procedures on her. Why is she asking me the same question he did? It’s obvious what I was doing. “Uh, you said to use feminine wiles to charm my man. I did just that.” I realize my words too late. She smiles, wiggling her brows. “Your man, huh? Cute.” God, give me strength. I can’t deal with this girl this afternoon. “......” She turns toward me, making strict eye contact. “Tell me something, girl. What exactly did you do? The feminine wiles you used.” “I puckered my lips like this.” I demonstrate. “That was after applying lip gloss to make it shinier? I can’t remember what you said it was for. I also winked like this, and then I—” “Enough, Liora! Geez.” I sit with a bright smile, hoping for her to praise me for a job well done. “So... rate my performance on a

Chapter 24 Liora's POV The pillow underneath my head is softer than the one on the plane, making me realize my bed has been changed. My eyes flutter open, the first thing greeting me being the blinding lights in Evren's room—well, my room too. “Ughh,” I groan, placing a hand over my eyes to shield them. Who the hell sleeps with the lights on? Although I slept more comfortably than I have in the past three days since Aunt's incident— Oh my God. Aunt. I jump out of bed, flinging the duvet carelessly to the side. My feet meet my slippers as I make haste toward the table in the corner to grab my purse and return to the hospital. Damn, Liora. How could you be so stupid? Your aunt is fighting for her life, and you're here sleeping comfortably like life is a cloud. I'm so stupid. And whoever put me in bed is even more stupid. The door swings open before my hand can reach the doorknob, almost hitting me in the face. Evren walks in—shirtless, with black sweatpants dangling off his hip

Chapter 23 Evren's POV 23 Evren's POV Marching up to her father was never part of my mission when I decided to follow her here. I had only planned to keep her safe, make sure nothing happened to even a strand of hair on her head because that would affect my baby too. But seeing her father act worse than my grandfather made me throw all respect out of the window. That’s if I even had any to begin with. Two of my guards bound down the small hallway leading to the preacher’s stand and take the corner to the half-open door where her father is preparing to come from. Whispers meet my ears, gazes fall on me, but I ignore them. I want only him. To apologize to my wif—my surrogate. Not for long though. She’s soon going to be my wife. Whether she likes it or not. I’m surprised to see the man who acted all bold outside quietly following my guards as they lead him to me. Not wanting to attract more drama than necessary, I turned around, letting him follow me as we went in the opposite

Chapter 22Liora's POV“The Lord is ready to accept all who come to him. He is ready to welcome them into his fold. Abandon your ways...“I zone out the rest of the preacher's words as I walk into the little church in my community—a place I swore never to return to. But it's inevitable. I'm doing this for Aunt. I know she won't be happy, but I'm willing to take her anger as long as she's alive.Evren walks beside me, his presence providing a sense of comfort and protection. He's as stubborn as a she-goat. I told him to stay back, but he told me his baby was going nowhere without him, and in less than two hours, his jet had been prepared for us to take the three-hour journey to Salt Lake City.Even when I told him to stay in the car while I alerted my parents that I was here, he still followed me in.Not that I'm complaining... much.“Liora?“ Mom’s whisper meets my ears. In no time, I’m engulfed in a warm yet unfamiliar embrace. How can my mother’s embrace seem so strange to me?“Mothe

Chapter 21Liora's POVI should have known something was up.As I'm walking back up to Evren's office, because my lame ass decided to forget my phone there, I notice a commotion as an ambulance arrives and paramedics rush in like their lives depend on it.I mean, it dies, right? If an employee of the Valescas dies in the office, it won't end well with anyone in this city. I wonder what could have happened. In my head, I'm singing a happy song, reminiscing about the moment between Evren and me earlier. He loved my food.He ate about five spoonfuls before insisting I leave. Odd behavior. But then he's always like that. The moment the elevator opens, the sight before my eyes has my senses heightening, my heart plummeting to my feet. The paramedics were headed for Evren's office? Could something have happened to Levi? He's clumsy, so it wouldn't be surprising. But as I see the person on the sofa, coughing while they try to attend to him, my heart loses it.Evren is pale, his lips blue, an

Chapter 20 Evren’s POV “So you're telling me you had the opportunity to murder him, and you decided to leave him with just a busted lip? Man, c’mon!” I roll my eyes at Marek's bluntness. His hatred for Ronan extends way back before mine. But I might surpass him soon. Hell, I think I’ve done that after last night. “You think I didn’t want to do more? If it was left to me, his mother would be planning his funeral right now. Unfortunately, I just can’t end him, no matter how much I want to.” I can envision him rolling his eyes on the other end. “You're so lax after this guy threatens your woman, Ren. I know you care for her beyond the fact that she's pregnant. Don't mess things up.” Before I can say a word, two beeps meet my ears. Idiot hung up on me. My eyes stray toward the bar, the desire to have a taste of the alcohol there and see if it really works, as they say, spiking. I just need something to calm my nerves. Without a second thought, I move toward the bar, pull out a gla
