Rebecca’s POV

It was morning already. I could hear the chirping of the birds as they sang their melody. I just wanted to sleep today, and I can still remember the look on Tyler’s face.

It is still as clear as day. I was relieved I finally got the words out, but that feeling was short-lived as a genuine concern grew in me. I just rejected him.

“Tyler, it's just that-” I began to explain, not knowing what exactly I could say to make him feel better, but he stopped me.

“I understand, it's alright,” he said with a reassuring smile, and at that moment a wave of comfort washed over me. He still walked me home even after I had told him I could walk home by myself.

“It will be my pleasure,” Tyler said.

We still laughed and shared some merry moments before I went back home.

I stood up and opened my windows. The sun was in full shape, and its warming rays always had a way of soothing my thoughts.

I’m glad me and Tyler can still be friends after the rejection.

The only challenge is telling my parents about my decision. I mustered up courage and marched downstairs. I could smell the soup coming from downstairs. I took a deep breath and, with a nervous smile, walked into the dining area.

“Good morning, Father and Mother” They looked at me suspiciously.

“Good morning, dear”, my father replied.

“How was your night?” I asked, still with a smile on my face.

“What did you do, Rebecca?” My mother had a way of knowing my thoughts sometimes; it was her superpower.

“I need to talk to you both” My smile had disappeared, and I fixed a serious expression on my face.

“Go on, dear, we’re listening,” My Father said.

I knew if I kept stalling, it would only make things worse. I would rather say things the way they are.

“I rejected Tyler.” I bowed my head down; I didn't want to see their angry expressions.

“Why?” My Father asked.

I lifted my head and saw that there wasn't any trace of anger in their faces. My mom’s head was bowed down, and I could see that she was more disappointed than angry.

“I don't want to mate now, Father,” I said calmly.

“That's okay, dear, you'll find your mate, My father reassured me.

“Whatever makes you happy,” my mother said before walking out of the dining room and going upstairs.

“Give her time,” My Father said before he stood up and patted my head, and then headed out.

I left the house feeling accomplished. At least I didn't have to worry about a proposal anymore. I headed over to Camille’s house, and I could hear whispers and side talks about the ball that evening. It seemed to be on everyone’s lips.

People speculated about the dresses, the musical artists, and the ballroom dances.

They didn't forget to mention the enchanting ballroom and how magical the night would be. Truly, it'll be a night to remember. I can't believe I'll finally see the Pack mansion. I arrived at Camille’s house, and she showed me the lovely dress she was going to wear.

Every mated female werewolf must identify with a rose petal on the side of their ears. While going to such gatherings, to let people know of their relationship status, Camille showed me her elegant dress. It was pink, and it complemented her body so beautifully.

“Okay, I have to go prepare now,” I said after speaking at length.

“Bye now, meet you at the Pack Mansion,” Camille said excitedly. We bid our farewells, and I rushed home.

“Where have you been?” My mother asked furiously.

“I was at Camille ’s house”, I immediately answered.

“Hurry up and get dressed, we don't want to be late”, my mother snapped.

I rushed to my room to freshen up, I picked out my dress, and

My mother came to tighten up my corset.

“You’ll have to mate sooner or later,” she said while pulling the corset with extra force.

“I'm sorry, Mother, but if you tighten it any more than this, I won't be able to breathe”, I pleaded.

My mother left to put on her dress, and I wore mine. Oh, how I love this dress. The details and the design were stunning.

My father had rented a wagon we could use to transport ourselves to and from the pack mansion.

We finally arrived, and I could already see people eagerly waiting to get inside. The big golden gate glittered under the moonlight. As we made our way into the Affluent pack mansion,  blue and purple colored chandeliers hung perfectly on the ceiling, casting a luxurious glow on the floors.

The paintings brought a touch of elegance and beauty to the room. Each painting had a distinct and vibrant colour. The decorations were stunning, and the flower arrangements were just perfect. The tune of the music was enchanting. The music filled the room; it was like a dream.

“Excuse me, my lady, would you join me for a dance?” A tall and slender man asked me while extending his hand.

“Go on, Rebecca,” My mother whispered and nudged me.

“Yes,” I hesitated. When I stepped onto the dance floor, I could feel the stares that were fixed on me. He held my waist, and I held his shoulder. He took my hand in his, and we followed the rhythm of the music.

We danced slowly before he started speaking to me.

“You’re very beautiful,” he said.

“Thank you”, trying not to sound uninterested.

“I’ve been staring at you since you walked in,” he said.

“Oh, that's…nice.” If only he knew I didn't want to have this conversation right now.

The conversation led to him telling me about his extravagant houses and wagons.

“You will be very comfortable if you mate with me, and my father is also a Beta”, he uttered.

Beta is the second in command after the Alphas. I hadn't met anyone of a higher rank before, but I was feeling uneasy with his stares that settled on my chest. I wanted to stop dancing with him as I was still contemplating. I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turned around to see a tall man with black hair, long and wavy, that had a blonde tip. I could see that everyone had stopped dancing, and everyone’s attention was fixed on the person standing in front of me. He had an aura of respect and confidence around him.

With a warm smile, he stretched out his hands and asked, “Can I have this dance?”

Kael's POVThe ropes tied to my wrists hurt so much, every movement sent fresh pain up my arms, but it barely pained me anymore, I was getting used to it. The aching in my skull was worse. The exhaustion was the worst. That was the real enemy now, present time. Not Garrick, not the ropes. The exhaustion. It was deep inside my bones, heavy enough to make everything feel distant, to make everything muffled together. For the first time since Mira died, I understood how easy it would be to stop fighting.Just stop, stop carrying the weight, stop chasing answers, stop pretending I still had enough strength left for all of this.Rebecca was lost somewhere inside the shrine, the pack was tearing itself apart. And Mira...Mira was gone, the thought made me sick every time it surfaced.I closed my eyes briefly, then I saw her smile, not the blood, not the sacrifice.Just her smile.Warm, honest and steady smile. The way she looked at me right before the end, like she still believed I coul

Lira’s POVI couldn't stop looking at him. Every time I passed the main hall, my eyes found their way back to the same place.Kael sat bound against a stone pillar, wrists tied behind his back. Dried blood on one side of his face, but could not be seen again as one stared into dark hair that ran across his eyes.He was alive, the relief should have comforted me.Instead, it made my chest ache.Mira was gone, Kael had barely survived losing her, now Garrick had dragged him back to the mansion like a bargaining chip. The sight felt wrong.Painfully wrong.I remembered the quiet man who carried supplies without complaint. The man who somehow stayed patient even when everyone else was losing their minds. The man who looked at Mira as though she was the only steady thing left in the world. Now he barely lifted his head, the wounded around me still needed tending, but my thoughts kept returning to him. What had happened after he left? What had Garrick done to him?How much more could

Rebecca’s POVThe shrine refused to end, every corridor led into another, every chamber opened into three more. Ancient stone walls turned around us like the ribs of some sleeping beast, closing in together the deeper we went. My mark still burned beneath my shirt. Not enough to guide me, just enough to remind me it was there.Watching.Waiting.No new markers from Kael still, no fresh cuts, no arranged stones, no hurried warnings scratched into the walls.Nothing.The silence from him felt wrong. Kael always left something. A sign or a warning or a trail. Now there was only emptiness.I kept searching anyway.Every pillar, every broken archway, every collapsed section of wall.Nothing.The absence sat in my chest like a stone making it hard for me to even breathe.Tyler stumbled beside me.Again.His weight fell heavily on my shoulder before he managed to catch himself. His skin was cold despite the sweat on his face, his breathing had become slower and uneven, every few ste

  • The Three Alphas’ Rejected Mate   Chapter 85

Rebecca’s POVThe shrine had now become a maze with no mercy. The corridors rolled into one another endlessly, ancient stone walls closing in until the air around us felt very different…very unusual. The marking and runes around us seemed to reflect light in a different way when I was not looking. My mark was still burning beneath my shirt, not enough to guide me, just enough to remind me it was there. No new markers from Kael, no fresh cuts in the stone, no arranged pebbles, no hurried notes scratched into walls.Nothing.The silence from him made me more worried than I realised. It felt hard thinking about it. Harder than the wounds.Harder than the growing fear I refused to name.I found myself searching every pillar, every collapsed area, every corner of every chamber, looking and hoping.Nothing.The absence felt wrong, like a thread had cut loose somewhere deep inside me.Tyler stumbled beside me again, I caught him before he hit the floor. His skin was cold and hard un

Rebecca's POVThe shrine felt endless as we continued. Every corridor looked like the last one. Stones in every direction that looked old and ancient, carved with symbols, were fading, and that seemed to shift whenever I looked away. The air was filled with the scent of dust, old magic, and something that felt darker. My mark was burning steadily beneath my shirt.I noticed it was burning since we got into this shrine. Not guiding, not warning, just burning. We hadn't found a single new marker from Kael in hours, no cuts in the walls, no arranged stones, no hurried messages scratched into ancient rock.Nothing.The silence he left behind followed me through every corridor. At first, I kept telling myself he was simply farther ahead.Investigating or clearing the path, but the longer we walked, the harder that lie became to believe.Tyler stumbled forward beside me. I caught his arm before he hit the ground.Again.His weight felt heavier than it had an hour ago, his skin was pal

Lira's POVThe healing wing was supposed to be a place of recovery, now it felt like a graveyard that hadn't realized it was dead yet.I moved between cots on automatically, changing bandages, handing out water, whispering reassurances I wasn't sure I believed myself. The people that were wounded watched me with half-closed eyes. Some slept. Some stared at the ceiling. Some quietly cried when they thought nobody was looking. The fighting had retreated from the corridors close by, but not far enough. Garrick's men still occupied parts of the mansion, their voices drifting through the stone halls, angry, demanding and obsessed with capturing Lily. The name followed me everywhere. The little girl had vanished. One moment she had been hidden behind reinforced doors with armed guards. The next, a witch had appeared from the shadows and wrapped her in darkness, and gone just like that. No struggle, no explanation, no trace. Why?The question kept coming in my thoughts. Why would the w
