Lorenzo's P.O.V

I was filled with rage and the moment I saw Daniel, I landed a punch on his jaw in anger.

I specifically told him to watch Sarah's every move and everyone around Sarah, but he neglected his duty.

I was about to throw another punch when i saw the person I wanted to hurt the most, right now.

Juliet.

As soon as my tongue came in contact with Sarah's blood I knew immediately who he was that poisoned her.

It was the poison that I had taught her how to use, and in the exact same dosage that I had structured how to use when I wanted to poison someone little by little.

The thoughts that I was the one that taught us something that almost killed the one person that I care about pained me very deeply.

I brought Janet in when she was about 11 years old.

The both of us were on the streets, both of us lost our parents, both of us were miserable at the time, and so when I got help from my auntie I had no choice but to help her to because we were of the same kind at the time, and si

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 85: Victor

Daniel had left before dawn, slipping through the trees with the cold confidence he always wore when he was on a mission. He said he’d be back by nightfall, with or without our guestEven though I warned him not to take his life under any circumstance, I knew that the second he posed an actual threat, Daniel would make sure he stopped there. That was six hours ago. Now the sun had sunk behind the pines, and the sky outside had turned that dark blue that only ever shows up just before full night.I stood and moved to the window, peering out into the blackened stretch of forest. Nothing. Still nothing. The plan was simple: bring Victor to us, observe, listen, and push when needed. If he was Donga’s spy, he’d trip. Sooner or later. I would make sure of it.A creak from the porch snapped my head around. The door opened.Daniel stepped in, brushing snow from his shoulders, his eyes sharp and tired. Behind him came Victor, taller than I remembered, leaner, with that same unreadable expres

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 84

I woke up to the smell of black coffee and the sound of Lorenzo sharpening his knife. The rhythmic scrape of steel on stone echoed from the kitchen, sharp and deliberate, a sound I’d grown used to over the past few weeks. Our hideout was quiet otherwise, tucked away in the wooded hills, safe, at least for now.But there was no such thing as rest anymore. Lorenzo had made that clear from day one. Safety was earned, and strength was necessary. And though my body still ached from the last session, I pulled myself out of bed and into a pair of leggings and a fitted hoodie. The morning chill bit at my skin. It was going to be another long day.He turned when I stepped into the kitchen. His dark hair was messy, his jaw shadowed with stubble, eyes scanning me like a general assessing a soldier. And then, just briefly, his gaze softened.“You slept?” He asked walking up to me.“A bit.” I lied.He didn’t call me out on it, just handed me a protein bar and my coffee. I took it silently and s

The early morning air was cool against my skin, as it reminded me that I was indeed not the city, it was too crisp. I stood on the gravel driveway behind the safehouse, watching the mist cling to the tops of the distant trees. The sun hadn’t yet risen fully, and everything was cloaked in a hazy twilight that blurred edges and made every shadow feel like a threat. With a few minutes, Daniel’s truck rolled up the narrow path moments later, tires crunching over loose stone. I turned as he stepped out. “Hi Enzo”. She started as he stepped out of his car, nodding his head once in greeting.“Didn’t expect to see you up this early,” Daniel said, closing the door behind him.“I couldn’t sleep,” I replied simply, motioning for him to follow me around to the back porch. “We need to talk.” I said to him as I heaved a little sigh that was as a result of the scars that were still visible on him. He followed without hesitation, falling into step beside me. His limp was more pronounced today,

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 82

Sarah’s P.O.VWaking up to an empty bed when I went to sleep beside Lorenzo was a nerve wracking experience, even though I knew deep down that he was safe. The fact that the man that gave us sleepless nights and so much agony was my father was insane.I headed downstairs, covering myself even further with the cover cloth dragged with me as I stood up from the bed.On getting downstairs, there he was standing by the window that faced the living room. The place looked mystical and if not for the circumstances that led us here, it is a great vacation spot.Walking up to him, I talked on his shoulder lightly and he turned to me with a smile, opening his mouth to say good morning but this voice cracked heavily, showing that he hadn't spoken in hours. He didn't bother anymore and held my hands, leading me over the coffee table. For a second, he looked like he was hesitating to say something but I let him decide himself whether to tell me what was on his mind or not.His arms were braced, ey

Lorenzo's P.O.VDaniel had come with Victor and although he said nothing, his whole demeanor good me everything that he didn't say. From the way he didn't ask to see Sarah, to see exactly where we were, knowing that he was such a nosy person when it came to me.I could tell that he suspected the short dark haired man and so I did too.Our conversations involved none other than Donga and whenever the man's name was mentioned, he seemed to interested, too eager. So much that it would take a fool not to notice.I also knew that Daniel brought him here intentionally so that I could get him as everyone had the funny thought that I was psychic when it came to traitors, but I was just extremely observant, and for now, I knew that he was fishy but couldn't conclude by just one meeting.“The team just sent another footage of Donga walking round our house, disguised.” Sarah says out loud as she walks ti me with a laptop in her hand.Even when she was serious and being so helpful, I could not he

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 80: Donga’s Scheme

It was morning, and once again sleep had eluded me for the most of the night as I had not heard any tangible news from my men. All I had been hearing were unimportant information about my businesses and how the investments in Daniel’s care were. It was all to plain that I suspected that there actually was very viral information that he was coming to give to me by himself. It was a method we both had been using since we started working together. We could never risk leaking vital information as it could cost us more than our lives. One could not be too careful. I stood at the edge of the mountain and waited. It had been about 4 days since I got the last message and if I had calculated right, Daniel should be reaching here within the hour. He was the only one besides Grayson that knew where we were. After some hours, at exactly 8:00 p.m. Daniel with a gray hoodie, scuffed boots, eyes that scanned everything before stepping through a doorway. Paranoid. Good. I’d tra

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 78: Training

The crack of dawn in this place was a different kind of magical. It was calm and chaotic at the same time. The cock always crowed as soon as it felt or saw the first sign if daylight, and never missed it. At this point, I didn't even need an alarm to wake yo be ause fir the three days we had spent here, I had been woken up by the cock’s crow. As soon as I moved my body, I heard a crack that reminded me of a decision that I almost slapped myself for even though I knew it was for the best.Standing up. I walked to the bathroom, as my body ached from yesterday’s session, but I didn’t mind. Pain meant progress. Every muscle that throbbed beneath my skin was a badge of something I never thought I’d crave again: strength.Real strength. My own.I had asked Lorenzo to help me train a few days ago. The words had barely left my mouth when I saw his face twist with hesitation, not because he doubted me, but because he was terrified of breaking what was still healing. And I got it. I was hea

  • The Traitor's Daughter    Chapter 77: Grayson

My breath came in short pants with my chest heaving and constructing from how much I had ran in such a short time. This man was unbelievable, I thought we were playing but he was more than determined to catch me.I knew very well that he hated the mention of Warren, especially when I was praising him and did that in purpose.I also knew that the hatred didn't run deep, he was just jealous everytime I spoke high of the man.“I surrender!” I yell with my hands up as he approached me, thinking that would get him off my back as I was so done with running.Unfortunately, he had no mercy on me and ticked me till I was almost on the floor, struggling to catch my breath as the more I tried, the more the air evaded me.Laughing himself too, he starts to calm down and laid his weight on me fully. He was so heavy that I could not help but grunt in slight discomfort but as uncomfortable as it was, I did not want him to get up because it was still somewhat comforting.“I love you.” He said as his
