Chp 1 Pt. 5 The Perfect Life

Nico

Tristan. I haven’t heard that name in seventeen years. He wrote a letter to me after we defeated the dark coven and then we never heard from him again. Our vampire coven allies leader, Adelaide, has been searching for years for a clue but has found nothing. It’s as if he appeared out of thin air and all we know is he is out to destroy this pack and take my daughter as his prize.

That name set Ace off and I had to let him out before he accidentally hurt someone. I quickly assigned two guards to Katerina and took off. I know she is on pack lands and is now safe, but I still would rather take the precaution.

‘Nico, what is wrong,’ asks Ahsoka through he link, feeling my immediate frustration.

Shit. I never told Ahsoka about the letter. She was pregnant with Katerina at the time and I didn’t want to stress her out with this information. Once Kat was born I didn’t find it necessary to say anything and I didn’t for years since we hadn’t heard a word from him since. Until now anyway.

‘I am on my way to you. There is something I need to tell you.’

Ace is not happy, but he knows Ayla, Ahsoka’s wolf, is going furious we didn’t say anything sooner. This Tristan spoke to my daughter and who knows what else. I’ll need to ask Kat exactly what happened.

‘Kat what happened when you met Tristan,’ I ask through the mind link.

‘Well, we more like bumped into each other.’

‘Did he touch you?’

‘Yeah, he grabbed my arm so I wouldn’t fall. Why? What’s going on?’

‘Don’t worry about it.’

I’ll need to get Gibson here as soon as possible to ensure Tristan didn’t put a spell on Kat. As soon as I get home I head straight to my office after getting dressed and call Gibson.

“Alpha Nicolai, it’s good to hear from you. It’s been awhile.”

“Yes Gibson it has. How are things over in the Red Sun Eclipse Coven? Yosif doing alright?”

“The vampires are doing well and Yosif is a born leader. I am blessed to be mated to him. But you didn’t call just to socialize. What’s going on?”

“I need your help.”

“Anything.”

“Tristan has made contact with my daughter. I need you to ensure he didn’t put a spell on her?”

“It’s been years since he sent that letter. I couldn’t even trace it. Why now make contact?”

“I don’t know.”

“I’ll have Yosif pack our things. We will be there first thing tomorrow.”

“Thank you Gibson.”

“Anytime Nicolai.”

I hang up the phone and find Ahsoka standing in my doorway with her arms crossed and a look on her face that let’s me know I am in for it.

“Who is Tristan and how much danger is our daughter in?”

“I didn’t say she was in danger….”

“You didn’t have to,” she interrupts.

I let out a sigh and go to speak but she interrupts me again.

“What have you been keeping from me? Is there a spell on our daughter?”

“I don’t know, that is why I called Gibson. He will be here first thing tomorrow. Here.”

I hand her the letter from all those years ago and wait for her to read it. Anger radiates off of her and the wind begins to pick up. She hasn’t lost control of her powers in years.

“Ahsoka please take a deep breath before you blow the house away.”

Ahsoka calms down, but just enough to get things back under control.

“You had this for years and never said a word to me! Never told me our daughter has been in danger this whole time! He has probably been watching her and now he has made contact with her! What have you done about this?”

Ahsoka has never raised her voice like this towards me before and I know I’ve royally fucked up. I should’ve just told her.

“I’ve had Adelaide trying to track him down since the day I received the letter. I didn’t want you to stress about it when I had no information. We never found anything on him. We don’t know his connection to Ryan or Leon, but we are assuming he is a warlock.”

“So some powerful warlock that has erased himself from history is after our daughter?!”

“More like he wants to destroy this pack and take our daughter as his prize.”

“That’s not any better!”

“Mom what’s wrong,” asks Kai as he walks in.

“Not now Kai,” I say.

“Well I heard warlock so maybe I can help. I’ve been working hard at learning all I can about witchcraft while keeping that side of me a secret. Not even Kat knows.”

“A warlock has been possible stalking your sister for years and plotting to take down the pack.”

Ahsoka hands Kai the letter and I watch as he reads it and then mutters some incantation. A green light appears and circles around him several times. Ahsoka and I watch the sparkling light slowly evaporate into nothing and Kai has a worried look on his face.

“Whoever this is, he is blood related to me.”

“Meaning he is related to Ryan in some way,” says Ahsoka trying to fight  against her tears.

“He may be blood related but you are still my son, not that bastards.”

“I know dad, don’t worry about that. I doubt this Tristan knows of my existence. I think I was kept a secret since you found me the way you did, I don’t think he wanted anyone to know. This is my family. Those who hurt this family are nothing to me.”

Kai may not be biologically mine, but that does not matter to me. He is my son and I will be naming him my heir when he turns twenty-one. The council believes that Kat will be the next Alpha, but I have a feeling the moon goddess has bigger plans for her outside this pack so I don’t want to tie her down to it.

“I don’t care if he does find out that you are Ryan Banks’ child. He is a threat to this family so what are we going to do about him,” asks Ahsoka.

“Whatever it takes to protect this family.”
