Chp 1 Pt. 4 The Perfect Life

Katerina

At this point I am sure Xander and Kyle are dying. Skye has insisted we hit every other store and the boys have become our bag holders. Now don’t get me wrong, I love to shop but shopping with Skye is on a whole other level. As much as I didn’t really want to shop today I am glad I did. I got a few new blouses that were on sale and restocked my make up. Skye and I are exiting yet another store with the boys right behind us when I accidentally bump into someone.

“Oh my goodness, I am so sorry,” I say to the stranger as he grabs my arm to help steady me from almost falling.

I stare at him far longer than I should’ve. I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere, but I can’t quite but put my finger on it.

‘Keep walking,’ begs Irena.

“No harm no foul. Hey you are Ashoka’s daughter aren’t you,” asks the strange man.

“Umm..yes. You know my mom?”

“Oh yes we go way back. Tell her Tristan says hi.”

“Okay Tristan, I will.”

I begin walking away and look back behind me to find Tristan still staring at me, as if he is looking for something specific. He kind of gives me the creeps and I hope to never bump into him again.

“Who is that? He’s not a wolf,” asks Skye.

“I’m not sure, but he knows my mom and apparently me. Though he seems familiar I don’t think I’ve ever met him.”

“Can we please go home now,” begs Xander.

“First we should stop by our cafe.”

“Fine Skye but then we are going home,” declares Xander.

I let out a light chuckle and follow everyone back to the car, piling the bags in the trunk.

‘Irena what was that about?’

‘There was something off about his scent, but it was faint so I couldn’t quite tell.’

Kyle and Xander are talking about girls and Skye brings up the topic of boys, bringing me out of my thoughts of what Irena said.

“Hey Kat please tell me your hot brother has not found his mate yet?”

“Skye he is your cousin.”

“I know I know, but I wish we weren’t.”

“Well, even if he did find his mate he wouldn’t tell me if she was underage and if she wasn’t underage we’d definitely know by now.”

“It’s a shame that he’ll be twenty-one soon and still hasn’t found his mate,” chimes in Xander.

“Yeah well he’s got time. Dad doesn’t plan on stepping down anytime soon.”

“So Kat what powers do you think you’ll inherit from your angel side,” asks Kyle

“I don’t know. Mom says I may even get powers she doesn’t have, but we won’t know until I turn eighteen.”

“That sucks, your birthday is still like eight months away.”

“It’s fine, I am in no rush to gain some powers I won’t have clue how to control. Besides mom says it’s important that I don’t go around announcing what I am.”

“Ahh yes, Alpha’s command for no one in the pack to say a word. We couldn’t give you away even if we wanted to,” states Kyle.

“Did the other packs do the same thing,” asks Xander.

“Yeah, our allies have been given the same order by their Alpha.”

“What would happen if the wrong people find out anyway,” asks Georgia. She found out about us and has been sworn to secrecy. My father had my brother put a spell on her so that should couldn’t blab to anyone about what we are. I don’t think she would but you can never be too careful.

“Honestly, I don’t know. Mom doesn’t talk about what happened to her, but I do know she was kidnapped before I was born for her powers.”

“Well you are a rarity. There are only three known angels in existence currently,” says Kyle.

Suddenly Xander whips the car into the left lane and begins to speed up.

“What’s wrong Xander,” I ask, a bit annoyed with his steering currently.

“We’re being followed.”

I look behind us and see a black SUV with tinted windows trying to keep up with us.

“That black car has been behind us for a while now and keeping a car or two between us,” says Xander as he continues to weave in and out of traffic.

“Should we mind link the Alpha,” asks Kyle.

“Already done,” says Skye. “He says to keep heading for the border, don’t stop.”

Xander steps on the gas peddle and sure enough the black SUV picks up speed as well. I continue staring at the SUV, wishing it would just crash or something.

‘Concentrate,’ says Irena.

‘On what?’

‘On what exactly you want to have happen.’

I stare at the SUV, wanting it to be put in park and stop like an anchor stopping a ship. The next thing I know the car skids across the ground and flips. My jaw drops in shock as the car continues to flip until it lands on it’s side. I don’t see anyone exit the vehicle, but something tells me there is no one there anymore.

‘Irena, did I do that?’

‘You did. Your powers will slowly manifest as your birthday get’s closer. One of them is telekinesis, but you won’t fully be able to use it until you turn eighteen. It takes a lot out of me to help push the power through. I’ll need to nap now.’

‘Oh okay Irena.’

My wolf is the best. I’ve known her since I was twelve which is quite young for one to have contact with their wolf. Irena says I cannot shift yet, but she was given permission to reveal herself to me to help guide me. It’s been nice to be able to have a friend to talk to.

“Holy shit! How the hell did that happen,” says Xander as he continues to speed down the highway.

“Irena said I did it,” I whisper still in disbelief that I actually crashed the car.

“What? I thought you wouldn’t have access to your powers until you turn eighteen,” asks Skye excitedly.

“Irena said she can push my powers through when necessary but it drains her.”

“Wow, your wolf is the coolest! I wish I had mine already,” says Xander.

Once we all turn eighteen we get introduced to our wolves and shift for the first time. I am at an advantage since I’ve known my wolf since twelve though I haven’t told many people. It’s a well kept secret at the moment. I haven’t even told my parents or Kai about Irena, just everyone here in the car.

“So what power allowed you to crash a car,” asks Kyle full of curiosity and wonder.

“Telekinesis,” I reply.

“Badass! Can’t wait to see what you can do when you have full control.”

Xander drives right through the gate into pack territory as they had it open and ready for us. He stops the car and we all hop out with dad waiting for us.

“Where is the car now?”

“It’s about fives mile down the highway. It crashed.”

“Go now,” dad orders some warriors and they immediately take off.

“Are you hurt,” asks dad and I can’t help but roll my eyes.

“I’m fine dad, really.”

“You are my only daughter Katerina. I will always worry.”

“Can we please go to the cafe and relax.”

“Then straight home.”

“Yes sir. Oh I almost forgot, Tristan says hi. He said he knew mom.”

“Who?”

“Tristan.”

Dad has an angry look on his face, one that even scares me.

“Stay with Katerina until I say,” he orders two warriors and then shifts, taking off to who knows where.

“Who is Tristan,” I ask, but the guards just shrug.

I sigh and urge everyone back in the car. One thing is for sure, Tristan is not a friend.
