Chapter 3

Aвтор: Zoe bear
He was willing to throw away our marriage, pretend to be the devoted mate, all for a letter of forgiveness for her.

And he even had a pup with her.

During dinner, my mother suddenly paused, her gaze lingering on the dishes before her. A heavy silence settled over the table as she wiped at her eyes, sniffling.

Joseph immediately set down his fork, concern etched on his face. “Mom, what’s wrong?”

My father sighed deeply, rubbing her back with a practiced gentleness. “This is Yolanda’s favorite dishes. It’s making her miss her.”

My mother’s lips trembled as she whispered, “That child… She made mistakes, but we raised her for over ten years. She didn’t deserve to die.”

A bitter taste filled my mouth.

Didn’t deserve to die?

And what about me? Did I deserve to be sacrificed for her? To pay the price for her caprice?

“Darling, it’s been five years,” Joseph said softly. “Yolanda was only nineteen back then. She was impulsive. She made mistakes.” His tone turned nostalgic. “She was always… intense. She thought you were trying to take everything from her.”

He exhaled slowly, as if bracing himself. “Five days from now is her death anniversary. I know you probably don’t want to go, so I’ll take Mom and Dad to visit her grave, okay?” His gaze flickered, clearly expecting me to snap.

I met his eyes calmly. “You should go.” My voice was steady, unreadable. “She lived in this house longer than I did. It’s only natural that you still have feelings for her.”

Joseph let out a quiet breath, relief barely concealed. “I knew you were kind-hearted. You’ve never been one to hold grudges against your late sister.”

My mother sniffled again, nodding. “My dear daughter, a child of our own blood will always be the most understanding…”

**Understanding?**

A sharp pain twisted in my stomach. So, they knew. They had always known I was their real daughter.

The pressure in my chest became unbearable. Pushing back my chair, I muttered, “I’m not feeling well,” and retreated to my room.

A while later, Joseph came in carrying my stomach medicine. “You shouldn’t skip meals,” he murmured, his voice gentle. Seeing that I had no intention of speaking, he didn’t push. Instead, he silently fetched warm water and, with practiced care, wiped my face himself.

If I didn’t already know the truth, I might have mistaken his concern for love.

After my biological parents found me, I had taken him out of the orphanage and brought him into the Blue Moon Pack house. He had always been my shadow, my playmate.

And later, when he found out Yolanda was his fated mate… she confessed her love to him.

He rejected her. Coldly.

Now, I finally understood why.

He never loved me. He only loved what I could give him—the title of Alpha heir to the Blue Moon Pack.

His love and his marriage had always been two separate things.

Late that night, when Joseph’s breathing slowed into the steady rhythm of sleep, I reached for his phone on the bedside table. The password was my birthday.

His pinned contact was me, followed by my parents. I scrolled through his messages, but everything looked normal—until I switched accounts.

That was when I found it. An alternate account.

Only one name appeared in his chat list: **Yolanda.**

[Joseph, it’s been five years. How much longer do I have to keep hiding?]

[She has no proof that I colluded with the rogue wolves and kidnapped her, and now she’s disabled. She’s not a threat at all.]

[Our pup keeps crying for his daddy. Can you really bear this?]

Joseph’s response was sickeningly tender.

[My parents and I are already discussing a plan. Just be patient.]

I stared at the screen, my blood running ice-cold.

They had already brought Yolanda back. Changed her name. Given her a new life.

Just a few days ago.

They even registered a training ground in her name.

In five days, the grand opening would take place.

My hands trembled as I opened Joseph’s social media feed.

I scrolled, my breath catching in my throat.

For five years, Yolanda had been living in luxury abroad, funded by my family.

She wore a high-end, custom-made dress designed by the royal stylist of the Blue Moon Pack. The villa she lived in? One of the Blue Moon Pack’s overseas properties.

And Joseph? He had been by her side all along, using “business trips” as an excuse to fly over.

Even my own parents were in the photos, smiling like they belonged there.

At that moment, I understood.

They were the real family.

Not me.

Swallowing back the stinging tears, I took screenshots of the evidence and switched back to his main account.

The sharp crack echoed through the room, leaving Joseph momentarily stunned.Their father's face darkened with fury. "Look at what you've become! We spoiled you rotten!"But Yolanda's eyes gleamed with something dark, something unsettling. The rage in them was almost bloodthirsty."What now? Are you thinking of raising a hand against me too?"Yolanda’s lips curled into a slow, sinister smile."Dad, how could I ever bring myself to hit you?""After all, my son is the sole alpha heir to the Blue Moon pack. Naturally, I have to take good care of you."Hearing Yolanda’s true thoughts laid bare, their father’s face burned with fury."You’re dreaming! Even if Fiona is abroad, she is still my daughter. Our ties haven’t been severed!"His voice thundered through the room as he yanked out his phone. "I’m calling a lawyer right now to draft my will! When I die, you won’t get a single c

“I’m just a victim of circumstances…”“Enough. Joseph, don’t try to make yourself sound so pitiful. You had your selfish motives. If I had been the Alpha heir, staying by my side wouldn’t have been a bad option for you. But if I was ruined and Yolanda’s son took my place, you’d still benefit. At your core, you’re just as selfish as she is. You two are cut from the same cloth.”Joseph’s face paled at my words.“But everything I’ve done for you, all the care and love, was real. Can’t you forgive me for the sake of our ten years together?”“Impossible.” My voice was firm, unwavering. “Joseph, these are the consequences of your own choices. You deal with them yourself.”I pressed the call button by my bed and calmly told the nurse I would not be seeing him again.Joseph was thrown out.A week later, news spread like wildfire—Yolanda was finally facing trial. The pack gossip channels were ablaze, and you could practically hear the collective howls of schadenfreude echoing through the territ

“If we wanted to betray you, we would’ve handed you over right after You and the rogues kidnapped Fiona five years ago! Why would we go through the trouble of faking your drowning, smuggling you abroad, and giving you a comfortable life?”“Now you dare throw accusations at us? You ungrateful wretch!”Yolanda clenched her fists, forcing down the fire rising in her throat. She steadied her voice, though the tremor in her tone betrayed her struggle.“That’s not what I meant, Mom, Dad. I’ve always known how much you’ve done for me. But if I step into that courtroom, my entire identity will be exposed. My reputation as an Alpha Heiress will be ruined. How am I supposed to lead the Blue Moon Pack after that?”Her plea was met with a cold scoff.“And now you're under the delusion that you're going to inherit Blue Moon Pack?” her father snapped. “Tomorrow, you son're going to quit school before the wrath of the masses reaches it. Then, you’re going to get the hell out of the pack and stay ther

His phone buzzed relentlessly as calls flooded in from the Blue Moon packhouse. Desperation clung to his every breath, but before he could process his next move, Yolanda burst into the room.“Dad! Yolanda’s face twisted at my words, her pride taking a direct hit. Without warning, she raised her foot and kicked my wheelchair.“What’s a cripple like you so smug about? Dad and Mom erased all the evidence for me. No matter how arrogant you act, you can’t touch me!”Seething, she shoved me forward again, her grip tightening like a vice. The family portrait burned into my vision, searing through my eyes, making them sting. Their family—because it had never been mine—had never included me.I drifted home in a daze, collapsing onto the bed and staring blankly at the ceiling. Time lost meaning. Then came the sound of a car door slamming outside, jolting me back to reality. The faint scent of leather and cologne reached my sensitive nose before the front door opened. They had returned. The bedroom door creaked, and Joseph strode in. He moved to my bedside, bent down, and enveloped me in his arms like I was some fragile human porcelain doll. “Wife,” he murmured, his breath warm against my ear. “I’m sorry. Work has kept me busy these past few days. I haven’t had time to be with you.”I swallowed a sarcastic snort. “The day after tomorrow is your birthday,” he continued, “I spoke with my parents, and we’ve decided to throw you a grand celebration.”Grand. Oh, how generous. I bit my tongue, refusing to respond. His lips brus
