Fiametta’s POV

I sat in the back of Enzo’s black Lexus, drumming my nails against the leather armrest.

“Take me to Al‑Zahra Hospital,” I snapped at the driver.

I caught his annoyed glance in the rearview mirror. “Don’t give me dirty looks or I’ll make sure Enzo fires you.”

“I’m minding my own business, ma’am,” he muttered through clenched teeth.

“It’s Mrs. Ricchezza soon. Don’t forget it.”

I rubbed my fake belly. Enzo was too stupid to notice anything.

He was so terrified of hurting the baby, he barely touched it.

As if he knew a damn thing about pregnancy anyway.

Idiot.

“Make a detour,” I said suddenly. “I’m picking up two of my friends—they’ll come with me for support.” I smirked. “Moral support, you know?”

I gave him the address—some crumbling neighborhood on the outskirts.

When we pulled up, my friend Rana and her mother Dina were already waiting on the curb.

I motioned for them to keep quiet before fake-squealing, “Rana! Dina! I missed you guys so muc

Domenico Ricchezza’s POV The meeting room smelled faintly of polish and citrus. Dark wood panels lined the walls, broken only by old family portraits—Ricchezza men and their wives frozen in time, painted with meticulous care. Sunlight filtered through tall windows, casting soft light over the polished floor. Outside, the grass was perfectly trimmed with apple trees in bloom. Giuliana, my wife, had fresh flowers arranged outdoors, her favorites; orchids and white roses, subtle and expensive. Everything looked in order. On the surface, at least. I sat at the head of the long mahogany table in the Ricchezza estate’s meeting room, fingers steepled in front of me. The air was still, heavy with the weight of decisions that would be made before the hour was over. “Kareem,” I said flatly. “I’m tired of wasting years cleaning up this family’s incompetence. I need to put a stop to it today.” I began thrumming my fingers against the table with short, clipped beats of impatience. “

Raffaele’s POV The shed was barely more than a wooden box pressed against the jungle. A kerosene lamp flickered on the nightstand, casting soft amber light that made the sweat on Valentina’s skin glow. At least it was I who made her sweaty, I thought and smirked. Outside, cicadas played their cricketing music. The heat and darkness were thick. The scent of damp soil and old wood mixed with her vanilla-coconut perfume. Swear to God, she’d wear perfume to her own funeral. So intoxicating it should be illegal. Somewhere in the trees, the jaguar howled—far off, but close enough to remind us this place wasn’t safe. I laid with Valentina in my arms, her jet-black hair tangled and damp, cascading down her back. I ran my fingers through the strands, savoring the weight of her against me. She fit so perfectly there—pressed to my chest like she belonged nowhere else. “I love you, Mrs. Ricchezza,” I murmured, kissing her forehead. She answered with a kiss on my lips—soft, like a

Camilla Bianchi’s POV I stepped out of the white limousine, heels clacking down the stone-laid path. I wore red stilettos, a white flared dress and a matching crocodile-embossed baguette bag. Dipped in diamonds and my favorite watch sparkling under the sun. I was running late and overdressed for obvious reasons. I was dipped in shine and smelled like heaven, just for him. Tariq’s mansion rose ahead like something out of an oil prince’s fever dream. Tall glass windows reflected the perfectly manicured gardens outside. The house was black steel and shadow, a modern beast against Basra’s more crumbling corners near the port. Behind it, the river shimmered. I squealed with delight as I ran toward him. His two guards with AK-47s stepped aside without blinking. “Tariq!” I threw myself into his arms and pouted dramatically. “Did you miss me?” He caught me and scooped me up like I weighed nothing. “You know I always miss you.” I trailed a manicured nail down his

Valentina’s POV “Shit!” I cursed, seething through my teeth. “Why did you have to wander off, Professor?” I asked pleadingly. “What do we do now?” I turned to Raffaele. He was always so composed and maddeningly pragmatic. “Let’s descend to the nearest village,” he said tiredly. “We can seek shelter. Hopefully they won’t pepper a whole village full of people.” “Don’t be too sure about that,” Captain Hembapu Zimmermann muttered. “Tariq has no morals. He always goes all out.” “That’s true,” Commander Kalenga added. “We’ll say we’re lost explorers—hungry, dehydrated, need food and water… maybe borrow a phone.” “You really think they’ll buy that?” I glanced sideways. “What if they think we’re cartel members and just shoot us?” “Well,” Kaifeng Lei said with a grin, flashing his machete, “they can certainly try.” I rolled my eyes. “You know, Lei, even if you’ve got a big knife… it doesn’t make up for what you’re lacking down there.” He narrowed his eyes, clearly annoyed. “Well, if

Valentina’s POV I was burning up, the warmth felt trapped, crawling underneath my skin. My body throbbed with heat and venom, yet somewhere deep beneath the pain, the red flower pulsed beside it—like a twin heartbeat fighting back. I could feel its strange energy curling through my blood, slowing the venom’s rhythm just enough to keep me hovering on the edge. Somewhere, I heard voices—Raffaele’s, Kaifeng’s, someone else’s—but they sounded distant. Faded. Like echoes from another life. Then silence and sand and my bare feet sank into it. I opened my eyes and saw golden dunes stretching in every direction. The morning fogged air shimmered with bioluminescence, swirling in waves in sparkling violet. Above me, stars blinked unfamiliar and I felt cold. I turned and froze. A giant serpent coiled around my arms, craving my body, sucking the heat out of it and its scales glimmering with a bronzed shimmer. Then, through the haze, he emerged. Gesar. He stepped
