Mason's grip on her wrist loosened slightly, but he still held onto her, his voice taking on a softer tone, laced with a touch of vulnerability. "Rather than sending those foolish divorce papers, Isabel, perhaps you could give me another chance."

Isabel found it difficult to take him seriously. Divorce had seemed like his ultimate desire throughout their marriage, and now he appeared devastated at the thought of it. She swiftly pulled her wrists from his grasp and attempted to walk away, but Mason halted her once more.
