Emily's Pov

"How the hell haven't you reached out to me!" He screamed through the phone, forcing a smile out of my lips.

"Let's just say my abductor isn't such a bad person after all," I said, turning around to look at Dominic, who was gazing in my direction.

"Cut that nonsense Emily, don't tell me you are beginning to develop a huge crush on Dominic?" He asked.

"I never said I had a crush on him, I just don't want things to escalate more than they already are. The death of Maximus, the notorious Mafia leader, was done by him, and if you can remember, Maximus was also on our radar as well." I explained.

"Then allow my men to handle Dominic, let us put an end to these bastards that call themselves Mafia lords."

I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath and turning around once more to look at Dominic.

There was no doubt that I would wish for him to be arrested, but the foresight of Anita crying over her jailed father did several things to my mind. I don't want the young girl to be witho

Emily's povWhen we arrived at the penthouse, it felt strange being amid the Mafia gang and being comfortable. They were jovial and fun and surprisingly highly civil, even though I knew they had several blood stains on their hands."So Emily, we have been wondering how you carry on your act. I mean how are you so subtle to the Mafia lords that they don't even sniff any suspicion?" One of the men asked."That is the most useless question I have heard in several years," Dominic responded, evoking laughter from everyone."Disguise..." I mentioned, causing everyone to stop."You don't have to reveal your secret to us. It should remain with you..." I stopped Dominic as he was speaking."Do you think after helping you kill Maximus, saving my sister and also speaking to the agent that they will let you go, do you think that they will still be on my side?" I asked."But you are still an agent though. You have their badge and you are also a highly respected member amongst them." Barry responds

Emily's Pov My heart was pounding really fast as Dominic and I moved through the hallway. How did they get hold of Maria? These and many more questions bothered me, as we made a turn into his office, where Dominic would eventually sit down. Barry burst into the room barely seconds later with two men who were handcuffed. They were made to kneel down before Dominic, while I watched on. "I asked both of you to take good care of my daughter and Maria and what did you do? You left both of them to play video games." His voice was cold and calculative. "We are sorry boss, it's just that staying indoors all day long and having to watch over them bored us all out. Maria and Anita were becoming close friends and we did not think the intelligence would come for them." I heard the chair moved backwards and Dominic walked forward to meet them with his hands right in the pocket. My curiosity rose over the roof, wondering how it was even possible that the security intelligence had gotten ther

Adam's POV"She is in the cell holdings, sir." One of the officers announced. I rose to my feet and adjusted my blazer suit before heading out of the office. I could hear screams coming from one of the holding cells, but I could care less for criminals who have refused to bend to my authority. The door was opened and my eyes landed on the dark brown hair seated on the chair in handcuffs with tears running down her eyes. "I am guessing this is the first time we are meeting Miss Maria or should I say Mrs Maria." I cracked a smile on my face, seeing how worried she looked."What do you want from me? I haven't done anything wrong." She said,"Of Course, you haven't done anything wrong, my dear friend. The only problem is that we need you to bait a very important person and once they come to us, we will let you leave." "Dominic Moreno? I am sure that is who you want, but let me tell you something. He is going to come and I know you will regret ever asking for his presence." Her choice o

Emily's pov While soul music was playing in the background, my eyes were engrossed in the pages of a murder mystery book that I had taken from one of Dominic's collections in the library. The door suddenly opens and Dominic steps inside. His long dark trench coat and a hat to accompany it shows that he has been out doing some business. "I see you have your hands full," I said, lowering my gaze to the gun he dropped on the table. "There is someone I would most definitely like you to meet." He said, changing the music to a heavy metal genre. "And you want me to come and see this person?" I asked. "Not to come and see this person alone, I want you to have a word with him." The smile on his face made me believe there was something mischievous he was hiding away from me. He stretched out his hand and I rose from the bed, dropping the book and walking up to meet with him. As we walked through the hallway, my mind was filled with thoughts about the identity of this perso

Emily's Pov"Your time is up, Dominic; even if you kill me, it won't change the fact that you either surrender to them or you won't be getting out of here," Adam said, laughing like a maniac."I should have killed you when I had the chance!" Dominic responded, his hand gripping the gun even further. He turned his attention to me. "I cannot stay here, we will have to leave this place at once." "And where can you run to? Let me quickly put you on notice; these men already scanned the entire perimeter of your hideout; there are no tricks up your sleeves that they won't be able to see." He turned to me. "Are you going to tell him the truth or should I?" "What truth?" Dominic asked, turning in my direction. "What is he talking about?" My eyes dropped down, thinking of a way out of this situation but there was none. "The day the security intelligence invaded the mansion and took Maria away, I...." My heart was heavy, and tears dropped down my cheeks."Well, she was the one that contacte

Emily POV"You have done a great job, Emily; you should be proud of yourself for bringing that criminal to book." Mr. Foster, head of the CIA mentioned. My thoughts were on the betrayals and what Dominic could think of me. "Emily Knowles?" I looked up and realized he was attempting to send me a wrapped present. I absentmindedly took the gift away from him and he tapped my shoulders before leaving the office. Adam had woken up from his unconscious state and was wrapped in bandages. I heard his shoes click on the floor as he stepped forward to me. "And since when did you start developing feelings for a criminal?" He asked."He was nobler than you will ever be, Adam," I responded, giving him a stern look. "Oh please, cut the bullshit Emily! We both know that Dominic deserves what is coming to him. He is a Mafia lord, and the East Coast is no place for people like him.""What of people like you? Do you think I have forgotten what you did? how did you hire Maximus to kill him?" I aske

I waved the bundle before the officer, who grabbed it."I need the money anyways.." he said with a smile before turning towards the main cell.I made my way out of the cell holding facilities with anxiety, not knowing how Dominic was most likely to react.By the time I got to the investigative room, I began to pace around, thinking of how to approach him and what exactly to say. Some minutes later, there was a knock on the door and the officer pushed Dominic inside. Dominic's POV After Emily left my room, I caught myself smiling. Smiling! “Che diavolo!” I muttered under my breath in Italian. “Get it together, man!”I ran a hand through my hair, pacing back and forth. She was driving me insane, and I didn’t know how to stop it. Everything she said was true. Every word. I couldn’t even pretend to deny it anymore. I tried to tell myself I was in control. But I wasn’t.The reality remains that I should have just left her that day in prison, my present moment would not exist, and maybe I would have secured more shipments to the East Coast. EMILY'S POV I was walking out of our room at the same time that Dominic was leaving Anita's room. His shoulders were sagged and he looked drained. His eyes were red from lack of sleep and they were filled with sadness. He looked like he was carrying the entire weight of the world on his shoulders. Our eyes met, and for some time, we paused. We didn't say anything. But the silence between us held so much meaning. It was filled with pain, agony, sadness, anger, guilt, fatigue and understanding. After a while, I reached for his hand and he took it immediately. He pulled me to him and wrapped his arms around my shoulders in a hug. My arms went around his waist and I buried my face in his chest with his face buried in my hair. There was no need to day anything. I felt the tension leaving both our bodies for a moment before we pulled away. “How is she?” I asked, referring to Anita. I had not seen her in a couple of days, and that was because I was too filled with my own grief; I fe

DOMINIC'S POV Early the next morning, I walked into Anita's room. She'd been hidden away there for days. She refuses to eat or talk to anybody. She spent most of her time crying. Emily was hurt, but Anita was almost broken. She didn't make friends easily and I suspected that it was because of this same reason—she could not bear the thought of losing them. Now she'd finally opened up herself to make friends and she'd gotten hurt in such a way that I wish I could shield her from. “Mi principessa,” I told her softly as I came to sit down on the bed where she lay curled up with tears streaming down her face. She didn't respond, she didn't even turn to acknowledge my presence. “Oh, honey. Please talk to me.” I pleaded. I brushed her hair softly. She still did not respond to me. “At least allow me to hold you,” I told her. She was quiet and I thought it'd be better to just sit with her quietly since she didn't want to talk. I just hated seeing her so filled up with grief. Just li

DOMINIC'S POV Emily's sob finally reduced into the soft breaths against my chest. I didn't move or speak, I just held on to her very tightly. I buried my face in her hair and breathed in the soft smell of strawberry that lingered in her hair. The silence between us was not uncomfortable, but it was heavy and necessary. It felt like there was so much to say, but we both were not quite sure how to say it yet. After a while, Emily shifted and she looked up at me. It hurt so much to see the pain in her face and the brokenness in her eyes. I wished that I could take the pain away from her and take it solely upon myself. “I miss her so much.” She admitted, almost like she'd been scared to do so all this while. “I know, Amore mio,” I said and bent to press a kiss to her forehead. I cupped her cheeks and pressed my forehead to hers. “I should have been there for her. I should have protected her better.” She said. I pulled away from her and searched her eyes. “Don't blame yourself

  • The Undercover Bride (Mafia Escapade)    Chapter 202

DOMINIC'S POV The weather was cold, I could feel it through my thick coat. I stood outside one of my new warehouses where we had set up a headquarters. Victor, Barry, Ezra and I were going through every single intel that we could find on where Damien could be. Guards surrounded the building and Victor's estate. We could not take a chance. It was frustrating not knowing where he was. It felt like he'd disappeared like a ghost, which was impossible. Nobody could delete themselves from the earth unless they were dead which I knew he wasn't. He was licking his wounds somewhere, giving himself time to heal before he emerged again. He and his accomplice Steven Crowley. He thought he could hide, but I was out for him and once I laid my eyes on him, I was going to end him. For the pain he caused my family, he would suffer, and in a way, killing Damien and Crowley was a way to redeem myself. I could see it in her eyes—though she didn't say it— that Emily blamed me for what happened and I

EMILY'S POV My world felt like it had turned upside down, like it was spinning very fast and there was nothing I could do to stop it. There was screaming going on in her mind, but on the outside, I was very quiet. I was clouded by so many feelings and I didn't know how to sort it out. Daniella is dead. Daniella is dead. Daniella is dead. The words kept playing over and over again in my head. It still didn't feel real to me. My mind went back to the first day I found Daniella. How she'd looked so hopeless when I saved her from the bar. I'd imagined that she had a whole new life especially since she got along so well with Anita. I sat at the edge of Dominic's chair, staring at nothing. The ache in my chest swallowed every other thing I could possibly be thinking about. Dominic came and sat down next to me. He touched my hand softly and I turned to look at him. His eyes were filled with sorrow, regret and guilt. “I'm sorry. I should have protected her.” He said, his voice

DOMINIC'S POV“Daddy!” I heard Anita scream, running towards me. I crouched down to receive her with open arms. She jumped into me and I wrapped my arms around her tightly. I pressed a kiss to her forehead, and she pulled away. “Daddy, save Daniella… she got shot.” She was sobbing. That's when I pulled my head up and saw Sofia and Barry walking towards us with Daniella in his arms. He rushed and laid her gently at the back of the van. She was coughing up blood and I saw that she'd been shot in her stomach. I looked at Barry and saw that we were both thinking the same thing. “Save her, papa. She's going to die, she's going to die.” Anita pleaded through her sobs. It broke my heart to see her like that. She moved close to Daniella and held her hand. I could see Daniella's pupils move to look at Anita. She looked like she was trying to say something, but the words were being blocked by the blood coming out of her mouth. Sofia got into the van and so did I. I signaled for Barry to dri

SOFIA'S POV The ropes around my wrists and ankles burned painfully as the guards dragged us out of the dark room. My entire body was weak from days without proper food and not enough water. I felt lightheaded, especially since I was blindfolded and couldn't see. I could hear Anita and Daniella whimpering beside me and I wished that there was more I could do to protect them. They were moving us, but I didn't know where. A dreadful feeling dropped in my stomach. Why were they moving us? Were we going to be killed? The questions filled my mind, increasing my fear. Then we got to a stop, and I heard as they threw Anita and Daniella into the van, and then I went in last. The door jammed close and I thought I would faint. “I'm so scared,” Anita said, her voice filled with tremors. “Don't worry, everything is going to be okay,” I told her, but I didn't believe it. There was no way of knowing that everything was going to be okay. For all I knew, this could be the end of our lives. The va

EMILY’S POVVictoria held me in her arms as I broke down in tears. Just hearing his voice had shattered me. I knew he was sorry, I knew he was scared, but I didn't know how to forgive him. I'd always trusted Dominic not to hurt me and he did just that. He broke my heart into a million pieces, and I did not know how to trust him again or move past the pain. Especially now with the girls being held captive by people that could kill them. I felt like the new life I'd built for myself was slowly crashing down and I didn't know how to stop it. “I'm proud of you for standing your ground. You needed to let him know how much his actions had hurt you and you were right to ask for space.” Victoria assured me that she knew I felt guilty. I felt like maybe I'd been too hard on him. “I know, but why doesn't it feel that way. It feels…painful.” I told her, pulling away from her. “Because you love him, and you trusted him and he hurt you.” “I know,” I said quietly. She was right. I love him but

DOMINIC'S POVI looked at my phone like it was about to explode after Victor left. "Call her". His words kept ringing over and over again in my head. The way he looked at me, I knew he meant it. It had been almost a week since I last heard her voice. I made the painful decision of putting a wedge between us even though I knew it was totally wrong to do so—even though I knew that it would hurt her. I wanted to protect her from myself. I meant what I said to Victor. I didn't know how to be there for her in her grief while dealing with mine and also trying to get the girls back. Now I knew I had to call her, but I was scared that I'd hurt her so much that she wouldn't be mine. I was scared that I'd messed everything up with the distance to the point that she would never forgive me. I was scared of what she'd say, how she'd react. But the truth was that I missed her—I missed her terribly. Her voice, her laughter, her comforting touch. The way she made me feel like I wasn't the monster
