Twenty Six

May’s POV

“Asher?” I called out as I started towards the kitchen, but I heard no sound coming from there. It didn’t stop me from entering though. I was parched so I quickly grabbed a bottle of water, drank from it as I walked out and towards the stairs.

Why was the house so quiet like this? It was already late in the evening, so Asher should be home, but he was probably held up somewhere in the house working, as he brought work home sometimes.

“Or maybe he’s just somewhere plotting how next to get rid of you.” I said to myself. I had been waiting for him to ask me to sign the papers again, but since the scene at the club in that room, I haven’t seen much of him.

As I approached the door of his bedroom, the one he doesn’t let us share because “woman always need their privacy” even though I knew it was because he didn’t want me in his space, my hand reached up, prepared to knock.

I needed to do what my mother said to do and see where that would get me.
