HANNAH’S POV:

“Wow,” he muttered, opening the car door for me. “I should’ve gotten a warning before seeing you like this.”

I chuckled as I slid into the passenger seat. “Don’t start, Roman. You begged me to come, remember?”

“True,” he said with a smirk, getting in beside me. “But I didn’t know you were going to make every other woman there irrelevant.”

I ignored him, focusing instead on adjusting the slit of my gown so it wouldn’t crease.

As he started the car, my phone buzzed reminding from Maya reminding me to text Elijah simply out of courtesy and I let out a sigh. I already texted the kids letting them know I was joining a friend for an event, so why did I still have to talk to him?

I groaned quietly.

Roman raised an eyebrow. “Is everything okay?”

“Maya,” I sighed. “She’s insisting I text Elijah to let him know I’m going out. Says it’s ‘the courteous thing to do.’”

Roman laughed under his breath. “You’re kidding. That man’s lucky you even share a roof with him, let alone tell him
