HANNAH’S POV:

EARLIER THAT:

“Can I just say that the four of you make a beautiful family?” Maya pointed out as we arrived in a small private cafe. She had gushed at how amazing their pastries were, and the amazing taste of their coffee.

She laughed when I looked at her sideways as she already knew how I felt about this situation. I don’t know if it was due to my period near but I was stressing about everything. So I read through the comments and many tagged us a ‘beautiful family’ the words should’ve warmed me, but instead, all I could picture were the twins’ photos plastered across social media, floating around for anyone especially Elijah to see and I didn’t like it one bit.

Their features were too telling. The shape of their eyes, their smiles, even the way Andrew’s brow furrowed when he was concentrating it was like watching Elijah’s ghost in two little bodies.

“Maya, those pictures being everywhere isn’t a good thing,” I murmured, leaning closer as the waiter set down cappuccino

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   Not Giving Up on Her

ELIJAH’S POV:That earned another small smile. She walked closer, curiosity in her eyes as she peeked into the bag. “Shrimp risotto?”“And lemon cake,” I added, pulling out the containers. Her lips curved upward despite herself. “You remembered.”“Some things are hard to forget.”For a second, she didn’t respond. She just stood there, staring at me with an expression I couldn’t quite read—part surprise, part nostalgia, part disbelief. Then she looked away, busying herself with opening the food. “You could’ve just sent this with a driver, Elijah.”“I wanted to make sure you ate,” I said quietly, pulling up a chair. “And to see you.”She hesitated before nodding toward the table. “Sit. If you’re already here, you might as well join me.”So we sat, the silence between us filled with the hum of the iron cooling and the faint sounds of the city below. For the first few minutes, she focused entirely on her food, pretending not to notice the way I kept watching her. The risotto seemed to eas

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   Breaking the Pattern

ELIJAH'S POV:A WEEK LATER:After the dinner with Lucas and my brother, as well as my parents changing their minds at the last minute, I soon realised a few things and took note of them.First of all, my parents were not actually parents, they were control freaks who had plans for their children and any one who wasn't perfect would be ditched to the side and since we were just two, at least one of us needed to be perfect and obey their wishes and that was me until I hated my life. I'm so glad that I actually love running a company, else I would have been searching for another path. I also realized to not relent in what I wanted and also to be a better man not just for me but also for the people around me. Becoming better gave me a level of confidence and this self assurance no one could take from me. I knew what I wanted now, and I was ready to do anything and go through any means to get it.The past few days, Hannah has been more distant than she already was and I had just caught a

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   An Unexpected Spark

HANNAH’S POV:Lucas shot him a glare but couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching. “Don’t make me laugh, I’m too angry for humor right now“You sure you don’t want me to track him down?” Martin said lightly. “I’m excellent at verbal violence.”“Thanks, but the police will do,” Lucas muttered, rubbing his temples. “I just… I’m tired, Hannah. Maybe love isn’t for people like me.”I frowned, sitting beside him. “That’s not true. You just keep falling for the wrong ones and it’s probably because you’re still discovering what exactly you want. You could have never imagined that Matteo would ever be a stalker and out there slashing your tires.”Lucas placed a piece of steak in his mouth and muttered, “You’re right.”“And we love you, Uncle Lucas.” The twins said in unison and Lucas ruffled up Andrew’s hair making him laugh. The conversation drifted to Martin who revealed he was working in real estate and lived an hour away from here in a neighboring state and loved how things w

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   Some Chairs Stay Empty

HANNAH’S POV:A WEEK LATER:After agreeing to dinner with Elijah’s parents and preparing for it, even hinting the twins on meeting at least one set of grandparents, it only ended up being a huge disappointment as they neither showed up nor called nor did they even offer any apology. Elijah was so livid and I urged him to call in fear that something happened to his mother but when he called he was taken aback by the change of heart. He refused to tell me what she had said but I heard her say, “She just came back after seven years and you take her back with wide arms, what is wrong with you? Janet is the one who stood by you…..Did you even have a DNA test taken? I strongly doubt they are yours, she isn’t what is right for you.”She seemed to have a lot more to say but I could no longer stand there and be disrespected any further so I walked away with anger pumping through my veins. I knew it was only a matter of time because my kindness and consideration caused me disappointment. Her

  • The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back)   The Life Between Us

3RD POV:“Of course you can,” he smiled, handing Amelia a whisk. “We can make a mess together.”His heart was just so full, seeing them even talking to him again after he questioned if he was visible today. The next ten minutes were filled with laughter, clattering bowls, and a whole lot of spilled batter. Even Hannah found herself smiling as Elijah pretended to faint dramatically when Amelia accidentally flung flour at him.“Mom, he’s so funny when he’s not trying too hard.” she whispered with a giggle.Elijah heard and his mouth went wide making Amelia laugh again. Hannah’s chest tightened with something warm and she just chuckled.Eventually, the brownies went into the oven half the batter somehow on the counter and everyone stood around waiting. Elijah leaned against the island, crossing his arms, that familiar glint in his eyes. You can do this…you can do this…He cheered himself on as he thought this would be the perfect time to ask for what he wanted.“So,” he started, speaking

3RD POV:“Yes, promise you are not cry?” Andrew added and Hannah chuckled and sniffled raising up her pinky and the three of them interlocked the fingers and she kissed it.“I promise.” They all smiled and she watched as they walk off and Elijah only let out a breath and waved at them which they ignored.Watching them walk into that pristine building with confident steps made something swell in her chest. Pride, yes but also fear. They are growing up so fast. She muttered and heard as Elijah hummed and she glanced at him.Staring at him with his glistening felt weird to her and it made her shiver because this fragile, peaceful life felt borrowed. Like a dream she’d wake up from.*****************The day passed in a blur of meetings and design revisions. At one point, Kara reminded her that she hadn’t eaten lunch yet, and Hannah only smiled faintly. Her mind wasn’t on fabric lines or client emails; it kept drifting to the morning to the small smile on Andrew’s face, to the light in Am
