*Lotus POV*

As soon as I got into the car, I noticed Seth covering his nose. I tried to ignore it and sat as far away from him as possible, hoping to avoid any contact.

From the corner of my eye, I could see him still covering his nose. There were two possible reasons for this: either I smelled bad or my blood was causing an issue for him. Vampires have a hard time controlling themselves around me due to the scent of my blood.

Seth didn't say anything throughout the ride to his home, and he didn't even spare me a glance. I wished I wasn't there in the car with him.

Finally, the car came to a stop, and I stepped out to see a magnificent and ancient house with royal guards everywhere. Seth walked in, and I trailed behind him with fear of him turning around and pouncing on me.

As we entered the house, I was so amazed by the beauty of the place that I accidentally bumped into Seth. It felt like my face had hit a rock.

"Ouch," I hissed as I stepped back.

Seth turned to look at me, his expressionless face making it hard for me to understand what he was thinking.

"I'm sorry," I apologized.

"Wait here, someone will come to show you to your room," he said, turning away from me.

As he spoke, I couldn't help but notice that his voice was deep, yet calm and sexy. I tried to shake off any crazy thoughts that came to my mind, but it was hard.

"You won't die," Seth scowled before leaving.

What the hell? Did he read my thoughts?

As I mentally groaned, Seth suddenly turned back to me.

"Is everything okay?" he asked, trying to create a conversation.

I was surprised by his sudden interest in talking to me, but I managed to answer, "Yes, everything's fine. Thank you for asking."

Seth nodded and then left to attend to his business. I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, but at least now I knew that he was willing to have a conversation with me.

A servant walked up to me and led me to my room. When we got in, I was shocked because this wasn't close to what I was expecting.

I was expecting a dark room with nothing in it but the cold floor or worse still, a dungeon, but this room was a pleasant one, not too extravagant, it was a little bit small but could still house two people on a single bed there.

"There must be some sort of mistake, are we in the right room?" I couldn't resist asking.

"Yes we are and there is no mistake, this is the room his Majesty assigned to you himself." She replied.

I took another look at the room and the only thought in my head was death in disguise and so I began to panic.

"Keep calm and if you need anything, you can just ring the bell there and I'll come to you." She pointed at a golden bell that sat on the bedside table.

I slowly nodded and then she left.

I bit my bottom lip as I once again looked at the room, I heaved a deep calming breath before going to sit on the bed.

I tried to keep myself from imagining the worst that could happen, but it wasn't that easy as I can't help it and the only way to stop those thoughts was to force myself to sleep, and that's the exact thing I did, I was already exhausted as it seems and sleep wasn't hard to come by.

My only way to escape the reality of this world, even if it was just for a little while, was the moment my head hit the pillow and I got comfortable on the bed. I fell asleep, embracing the darkness that eludes me with open arms.

Later that night...

As the evening wore on, I found myself growing restless in my room. I had been cooped up all day, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of being a prisoner. Just as I was about to give up hope of ever leaving my room, there was a soft knock on my door.

"Come in," I called out, hoping it wasn't one of Seth's guards.

To my surprise, it was Seth himself who walked in. He looked more relaxed now, dressed in a casual shirt and jeans instead of his usual formal attire. I couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked.

"May I join you?" he asked, gesturing towards the bed.

I nodded, still feeling a bit nervous. He sat down next to me and looked at me with a warm smile.

"I hope you're comfortable here," he said. "I know it's a big change from your old life."

I was taken aback by his friendly tone, but I decided to go along with it. "It's different, but I'm getting used to it," I replied.

Seth nodded in understanding. "I can imagine. You lived a hard life before, didn't you?"

I hesitated before answering, not sure if I wanted to revisit those memories. But something in Seth's demeanor made me feel like I could trust him. "Yes, I was a slave for many years," I said quietly.

Seth's expression darkened, and I braced myself for him to say something harsh. But instead, he surprised me by placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that," he said sincerely. "No one should ever have to endure what you did."

I was touched by his words and his gentle touch. For the first time since I arrived at his house, I felt like Seth was more than just a powerful vampire. He was a kind and empathetic person.

As soon as Seth left my room, I couldn't help but feel confused. Why was he suddenly being kind to me? My mind raced with various possibilities, but I couldn't come up with a definite answer.

Suddenly, there was a knock on my door, and I was brought back to reality. It was a maid who had come to inform me that the master was requesting my presence at the dinner table.

"Mistress, the master requests your presence at the dinner table," the maid said.

I was shocked and scared by the invitation. "Wh-what does he want with me?" I asked, my voice quivering with fear and confusion. My mind raced as I tried to come up with any logical explanation for why the vampire king would want to invite me to his dinner table. Was it just a formality, or was there something more sinister at play? I couldn't shake the feeling that I was in danger, and the thought made my heart race with panic.
