Chapter 3: Weather Change
Alexander was bewildered at the question Becca asked. He didn't move an inch, instead, he maintained his rigid invisible posture, thinking Becca was talking to someone else.
Becca glanced at the brunette guy, wearing a long black coat that reached up to his knees. She saw his entire body stiffen, his fair skin going even paler.
"I asked, what are you doing here?" Becca repeated the question, which was clearly directed to Alexander, who gave her a blank stare. "I am talking to you, you know, the green-eyed brunette guy standing in front of me."
Alexander delicately arched an eyebrow and asked, "Can you see me?"
Becca rolled her eyes, hearing him. "Of course, I can see you. Why wouldn’t I?"
He was astonished after hearing her answer, but he tried to act nonchalantly. How could a simple human see him despite Alexander using his powers? He was certain he said the incantation perfectly to be invisible, which had never failed him before, in this realm or his own. No vampires could see him if he turned invisible. Then how was it possible that Becca could see him? Was it because of the potion she had within her?
Obviously, thought Alexander, this average girl can see me through my invisibility power, great!
"Hello? How did you get inside the manor? How did you even use this street? Did my dad give you permission?" she fired question after question at Alexander, snapping him out of his thoughts.
He placed his hands in the pocket of his coat. The strong wind had lessened by then, though it was still chilly.
"Why do I need to answer you?" retorted Alexander.
Becca placed her hands on her hips, not caring a bit for his haughty tone. "Why wouldn't you? You are in my manor, looking as shifty as can be, and you are roaming around as if you own the street which you don't. My father owns it."
He rolled his eyes and spoke up, "If I intended on buying anything, I would buy the entire human world."
She was confused hearing the weird stranger's reply. Why would someone appear in front of her out of nowhere?
As Becca was about to respond further, hearing the faint footsteps coming closer, Alexander whispered in her ear, sending shivers dancing down her spine, "Look at the moon."
Suddenly, she glanced at the moon as if someone hypnotized her. It was against her will, yet she obeyed him. While she looked at the moon, Alexander made his way towards the bushes and hid there. "Well, at least I could hypnotize her," he mumbled under his breath.
Shier stepped out of the house within a few seconds and hollered from the porch, "What are you doing outside at this hour without my permission?"
Becca shuddered at the sudden intrusion. Her head snapped in her father's direction only to find Shier throwing daggers at her with his blue eyes.
"Dad, I—"
"Shut up, Becca." Shier approached her and grabbed her arm tightly. "Were you talking to anyone else before I came out here?"
Alexander was watching everything from the bushes. He was still using his invisibility power, just to be extra safe which worked. When Shier scanned around the front yard and his eyes fell on the bushes, he didn't even realize a vampire was watching him.
Becca wanted to tell Shier about the weird brunette she saw earlier, but she was about to move to the dorm the next day. If she told her father about the weird stranger, he might stop her from going to the dorm which would lock her freedom away forever; it was the last thing Becca wanted.
She was a practiced liar thanks to her father's abusive nature about which she couldn't tell anyone about. She couldn't even make proper friends because of Shier.
Becca's heart was telling her to look at the bushes all of a sudden. She didn't want to at first but ended up listening to her heart as she glanced at the bushes. When she did, she saw Alexander hiding behind it. She could easily notice his huge muscular body.
If I save him today, maybe one day he can be a good friend of mine, pondered Becca. So, she lied straight through her teeth, "No, Dad. I didn't see or talk to anyone."
The weather started changing once again. This time, the familiar lightning occurred without sound. The lightning was only occurring above Hertford Manor, which indicated that Shier was angry at Becca and she would get beaten once again.
"Well, now it's time for your punishment. Why didn't you ask for my permission before stepping out of the house?" Shier uttered and Becca became quiet instantly.
She knew that whatever she did, she would definitely get battered by her father even though she was an adult. She had nothing under her control as long as she lived in the same place as Shier Hertford, she never would.
"Follow me," ordered Shier and walked towards the house, Becca following him meekly.
Alexander was surprised at the sudden change of the weather. He had never seen that type of weather in the vampire world. He didn't fail to notice the only inaudible lightning over Hertford Manor while the other houses on the other streets had a clear sky.
Before going inside, Becca turned to the bushes for the last time. Seeing Alexander, who thought Becca couldn't see him because he used more power to be invisible this time, Becca gave a smile with her dimples popping out. The smile wasn't a happy one, rather it was a sad one, clamoring for help.
As soon as Alexander saw that, he had a sudden urge to help her, which he barely controlled. Why should I help her? She is a fucking human. Damn, this human world is driving me crazy, thought Alexander.
Alexander knew that he had to find a delicious meal to enjoy in the human world, instead of thinking about the situation which had occurred a few minutes ago. I couldn't taste her succulent blood. Some other time then, he thought. He got up from behind the bushes after watching the duo going inside the house.
He was about to go and hunt but stopped when another thought suddenly stuck in his mind. I should help her because she has the potion which my brother needs. If I help her, she will willingly give me the potion herself when I ask her about it, Alexander mused, this sounds like the perfect solution.
All of a sudden, Alexander jumped on the door of the manor, and at that instant, he was pushed backward. His back had hit the huge gate surrounding Hertford Manor.
"What the actual fuck?" Alexander let out.
He tried to do the same thing again a few times, and the result was the same. When he walked slowly towards the house, he stretched out a hand to see the house was fully protected by a spell. It was a strong spell that prevented every creature but human beings from entering the house.
"That Shier Hertford is not what he pretends to be," Alexander told himself, just to be clear.
I cannot help Becca with whatever she needs right now, but she has to help me come what may, thinking that he shook his head. Deciding it was better for him to hunt and drink human blood, Alexander ran out of the manor.
Shortly, it started to snow, which made him awestruck. At first, it was a stressful environment, which turned into a flash of lightning just above Becca's house and now, it was snowing.
His eyes fell on the balcony of the manor, where Becca was standing and the snow was specifically landing on her. It seemed as if she found peace within the embrace of the gentle snowfall.
What's wrong with the weather here? wondered Alexander. The weather in the human world is as weird as human beings, with that thought, he made a note of the location of Becca's house before Alexander disappeared into thin air to go find his next meal.
Chapter 37: Unexpected EndingAlexander managed to barge into the room by force and grabbed the whip, which was about to hit Becca. He pushed Shier away harshly and dropped the whip on the floor. Then he picked up a petrified Becca in his arms and jumped out of the balcony. He was weak because of the strong spell he broke by giving away most of his energy. But he had to stay strong for Becca, as long as he could. He decided to take her to the vampire world to keep her safe with him for the time being.Meanwhile, Shier took the special revolver which possessed the bullets that could kill a vampire. He wanted to kill the vampires responsible for his wife’s death, so he made it especially by himself. “I am going to kill him. I cannot let him be the vampire king nor anyone else. No vampire will be helped because they killed my wi
Chapter 36: TrapsAs promised, Becca returned to Hertford Manor, sitting on the railing of the balcony along with Alexander. Her dad didn’t say anything to her after she arrived home and instructed her to go to her room. She couldn’t help but wonder that there was something fishy going on, but she forgot all about it once she saw Alexander waiting for her on the balcony. She immediately ran into his arms and had not let go yet.Right now, her head was on his shoulder, their hands intertwined while talking to each other about whatever came to their mind or just enjoying the comfortable silence.“What if I fall from here?” Becca asked Alexander hypothetically. He chuckled, answering, “Of course, I will catch you. At least, I will be fast enough to, but if I don&rsq
Chapter 35: In LoveBecca cuddled with Seniha after writing five chapters for her new vampire love story. After that, she couldn’t bring herself to write about vampires anymore because it made her writhe in pain. She lied to her father saying the college was on break once again due to some issues which Sebastian wrote in the fake email.Since she came back to the human world, all she had managed to think about was Alexander Insworthe. Even though he broke her heart by pushing her away, he was all she wished for, more than anything else in her life. She kept replaying the moments she spent with him in her head. Sometimes, she would just burst out crying in the middle of the night. She could barely sleep nowadays, yet she would not get dark bags under her eyes. She had also lost her appetite to eat anything, that’s why Shier wo
Chapter 34: Decisions“I tried to kiss Becca, but it didn’t work,” Phil announced, standing in front of Becca, Alexander, and Vanessa. They were in the living room, away from the ballroom and other vampires.Phil noticed that Alexander and Becca were holding hands but didn’t say anything.“So, what do you want to do now?” Vanessa asked Phil in annoyance. “Will you make out with her or fuck her to get the potion?” She was pissed off at Phil’s insatiable thirst for power.Becca tightened her grip on Alexander’s hand in fear while he gave a light squeeze in return, assuring her that he wouldn’t let that happen.“I mi—” Phi

It was decorated beautifully on the occasion of Phil getting the throne of the king tonight.Meanwhile, Becca was dressed in a beautiful long-sleeved purple gown with the help of Vanessa and Pristine. Even though she didn’t fancy the idea of kissing Phil, she had to do what she had to. She couldn’t back out from her words now. Yet, the thought of anyone but Alexander’s lips on hers made her skin crawl in disgust.Becca was pacing in her designated room back and forth when there was a soft knock on the door. “Come in,” she hollered, and Alexander entered her room.Alexander didn’t l
Chapter 32: Kiss For Potion?Becca wore a red blouse with black skinny jeans: she has been wearing long sleeves ever since she got her sunburns—she wanted to hide those marks. She was afraid of letting Alexander know about it, or even Vanessa. Why do I feel this way with Alexander? she wondered. Lucas was also her good friend, but she never got such feelings for him as the ones she felt for Alexander. The emotions she had for Alexander were more of a romantic nature, instead of friendship. She deemed this as friendship plenty of times, but his teasing, her blushing—these weren’t friendly at all, rather it was a sign of affection. She never understood what it felt like to fall for someone, but she believed that she would be madly in love one day. She walked out of the
