Fresh coffee wafted into her bedroom, awakening her through her nostrils. Rolling over, Claire glanced at her alarm clock: 8am. It was later than she usually slept in, but after last night, she thought she deserved some rest.

She padded barefoot into the kitchen to see a shirtless Lex cooking some eggs with Brady watching from the living room. Lex motioned behind him to the coffeepot, not diverting his eyes from the skillet. “Coffee is fresh. Now get a cup and sit in the living room. I’m cooking this morning and I don’t want to hear anything about it.”

“Yes sir. No objections from me.” Claire made her cup and sat cross-legged next to Brady on the couch. “I could get used to someone else cooking around here.”

The half naked man in the kitchen captivated Brady.

Claire waved a hand in front of his face. “Earth to Brady. Come in Brady.”

“Oh, sorry. I just can’t believe…”

Knowing all too well what Brady was thinking, Claire nodded her head. “Did we have fun last night?” She loved teasing

Is there a problem with the updates? I hope all is ok. It’s just a little frustrating waiting without knowing what is going on! This has happened to the last 2 books I was reading, updates just stopped!

  • The Vampire's Opal   Home

Everything was the same: same black leather couch, same wooden coffee table, same… everything. Taking a few hesitant steps further into the room, her hands grazed over the bar top, feeling each nick and crack on the surface. Her fingers found the watermark left on it when she was eight from her sweet tea. Jack complained about each time he washed the top, and she giggled remembering her father’s hysterics. She continued to pace around, making her way to the kitchen and dining room. So many memories swamped her brain. So many meals, conversations, and laughs happened in this room. She put a hand on her chest, trying to stabilize herself a bit. After a few deep breaths, she let go, and a few tears fell.It felt good to be home. She wandered aimlessly around the house, touching everything she could. Family photos still lined the hallway to Jack’s office and bedroom. Poking her head into the office, Claire inhaled deeply and found it still smelled like his cigars. She smiled and stepped aw

  • The Vampire's Opal   deCeiT

Mal straightened where he stood. “What’s going on?”Deacon glanced at the bed where Claire clutched the bedspread to her chest, but Malachy stepped into his view, bringing his focus back to the task at hand. “Someone attacked us. Fuckers desecrated an abandoned building on the outskirts of the territory. I have my best warriors and trackers searching the area, but you need to get her out of here. Don’t tell me where, just go!”“What happened?” Claire wrapped herself in the blanket and stood to walk to Mal’s side. His arms instinctively pulled her closer. “Deacon. Tell me what happened.”Mal was proud of the commanding voice his little love projected to the alpha.Deacon didn’t hesitate as he kept his eye contact with her, which Mal respected given her current state. “Someone set fire to a building…but they left a message with the fire. ‘deCeiT’ was in flames.” Deacon lifted his phone screen to Claire’s face. Sure enough, a building was on fire with the word ‘deceit’ in flames on the ro

  • The Vampire's Opal   Impatient, Aren't We?

Mal placed his right hand on the small of her back and grabbed her right hand with his left. Goosebumps erupted over her exposed skin, making her shiver. He pulled her so close to him, she was afraid to breathe. “What are you doing?” she whispered as she tried to put some distance between them. But steel arms held her in place. Panic gripped her. He shouldn’t be dancing with her, touching her, holding her this close. But he was.She quickly looked around them to see if anyone was watching; all eyes were looking at them.“Love. Look at me.” Mal gently grabbed her chin with his thumb and forefinger, lifting her head to meet his gaze. “Let them look. I think it’s about time we stepped out of the shadows. Don’t you?”She couldn’t contain her smile. All thoughts of wondering if anyone watched them evaporated as she stared into his deep brown eyes. Eyes that looked only at her. “Your Highness, are you saying what I think you are?” Her heart hammered in her chest. He couldn’t possibly think

  • The Vampire's Opal   May I Be Frank?

“Claire Taylor. My, my, it’s great to see you. How have you been?” The portly man stepped in front of Claire before she could get to Malachy. Seeing Mal in his fitted tux, the wedding atmosphere, and the fact she hadn’t been in his arms in weeks, made Claire want nothing more than to run to him; to kiss him until neither one could stand it anymore. She knew it wasn’t an option until they dealt with Sloane. But talking with guests and making sure everything was running smoothly was part of her Maid of Honor duties. Or at least that was the excuse she’d use if anyone said anything. Not wanting to be rude, she smiled cordially. “Leader Allen, it’s good to see you as well. I hope you’re enjoying yourself.” She attempted to step away, but he once again stood in her path.“It would appear that being away from Jack and the rest of Crescent Moon has really helped you prosper. Being human suits you.” He took a drink of his wine, then smiled widely at her, completely unaware of the incredulous

  • The Vampire's Opal   I Now Pronounce You

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as both bride and groom recited their own vows. Thankfully, Jordyn somehow hid tissues in her dress, which she quickly handed one to Claire. Both women dabbed at their eyes, trying not to mess up their makeup. The ceremony was coming to a close after the exchange of the rings. Jack winked at Marian, making her giggle, because they knew which part was next. Claire wasn’t focusing on what Xavier was saying; she didn’t think anyone was anymore. Her favorite part of any wedding had always been the first kiss, even though most of the weddings she’s seen were in movies. It still counted, right? As if out of a movie, the sun began to set behind the altar. The glass windows magnified the deep orange hue as it reflected around the couple. On cue, Xavier spoke once more. “I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”Not hesitating, Jack rushed to Marian, lifted her by the waist, spun her around and kissed her. The happy couple continued t

  • The Vampire's Opal   Showtime

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!“Shut that damn thing off!!” A pillow smacked Claire right in her face, bounced off, and knocked the lamp off the nightstand, completely missing the alarm clock. The crash made the girls shoot up from their places all over the room. Marian was loosely hanging on the small sofa, her legs over the back and her head somehow propped up as well. Steph scrambled up from somewhere at the foot of her bed, which Claire had no memory of climbing into. Steph slammed a hand on the alarm, crushing it to pieces. Claire shot up from under the blankets.“Jeez, Steph!! What did it ever do to you?” she joked. Her fingers shot up to her temples, trying to massage the thumping of her heartbeat pounding in her head. “Ugh... What was in those drinks last night?” At least it’s just a headache and not nausea, she told herself. She didn’t think she consumed that many last night, but the pounding in her head said otherwise.Steph crawled into the bed and o
