“Mio Dolcezza,” I say warmly into the phone, memories of my phone call with the lawyer forgotten under the sweet voice of Valentina.

“How are you doing?” She inquiries .

“I’m fine, even though you abandoned your patient and left me to deal with my injury alone.” I say with mock exasperation. She laughs at my joke just as I intended, a laughter is lovely tune to my ear.

“Don’t be a whiny baby Marco, you’re a big guy and you can take care of yourself. Plus, you have Becca a taking care of you, don’t you?”

“I do but it’s you I want, seeing you makes it all better.”

“Shouldn’t you be reuniting with your parents? It’s been a while since you guys have been together.”

“Valentina, don’t pretend to actually care for my reunion with my parents. Are you trying to get out of coming around?”
