Meanwhile…..

High above the city in an office that almost touches the cloud, Chaos stood before a wall of glass, his reflection cast against the evening sky.

Xavier entered silently, a tablet in hand.

“The Saints heiress is preparing for the auction,” Xavier reported.

“Word is, she’s been at odds with her grandfather again. As for Damian Gray… he’s been spotted publicly by our men with his secretary twice this week.”

Chaos’s lips curved faintly, though the smile never reached his eyes.

“And she still clings to him. Good.”

He clasped his hands behind his back, his posture regal, predatory.

“The deeper she binds herself to a man who will never love her, the sweeter it will be when she realizes where her true throne lies.”

Xavier hesitated, then added,

“She threatened to get rid of anyone who takes Damian from her.”

Chaos chuckled low, dangerous.

“Spoiled little Saint… she speaks with fire, but she doesn’t yet know how to wield it.”

His gaze sharpened, icy and intent.

“That’s why she needs me.”

He turned from the window, his coat sweeping behind him like the shadow of a of a storm.

“Make sure my invitation to the ball is delivered. It’s time she learns her real place.”

3 days later—

The grand hall of the International Trade Center shimmered with wealth crystal chandeliers glittered above polished marble floors, and the air buzzed with the chatter of the world’s elite.

Power, money, and ambition all gathered under one roof.

The Saints family entered with all eyes on them.

Kashi Saints walked with her head high, draped in elegance, exuding the air of someone born to rule.

Frank marched at her side, his presence commanding, while other Saints executives trailed behind.

The cameras flashed, whispers chasing after her as always.

“Miss Saints looks radiant tonight.”

“She’s a Saint… of course she does.”

“I heard Damian Gray might show what will she do?”

Kashi smiled faintly, letting the envy and gossip wash over her like perfume.

This was her world.

At the front of the hall, the stage was prepared for the bidding.

The property, that building was the crown jewel.

Whoever won it would shift the balance of power in the city.

Kashi was reviewing documents with Frank when the atmosphere suddenly shifted.

The chatter dulled, as though the air itself tightened.

Heads turned toward the entrance.

The heavy doors at the end of the hall swung open, and silence fell like a curtain.

People turned, gasps echoing through the chamber.

A man strode in, tall, broad-shouldered, dressed in an immaculate black suit.

His very presence seemed to command the room.

But what stunned them most wasn’t his aura it was the mask.

A smooth, obsidian-black mask covered the upper half of his face, gleaming under the chandeliers.

No eyes, no expression, only an enigma.

At his side, a tall man Xavier, walked with sharp precision, every movement watchful, dangerous.

“The Chairman of X Corporation…” a voice whispered.

“He actually came in person…”

“No one’s ever seen his face. Is that…?”

Frank’s frown deepened.

His hand gripped the armrest of the chair as he muttered,

“That sly fox… hiding behind masks and shadows.”

The masked man moved with unhurried grace to the front of the room, his aura swallowing every ounce of air.

He sat.

Xavier stood just behind him, eyes scanning the crowd.

Even without seeing his face, the power radiating from him was undeniable.

And then, for a fleeting moment, his masked gaze turned toward her.

Kashi.

The weight of it pinned her in place not threatening, not pitying but deliberate.

Intent.

The auctioneer cleared his throat nervously, his voice cracking before he recovered.

“L-ladies and gentlemen, we begin the bidding…”

After a few hours of auctioning off items, the weaker voices fell silent one by one, retreating as the numbers soared higher than their limits.

Soon, only three names remained in the hall:

Saints.

Gray Enterprises.

The mysterious X Corporation.

The atmosphere thickened, every head in the room turning to watch the giants clash.

The auctioneer, though trying to maintain composure, couldn’t hide the nervous quiver in his tone.

“Current bid at two hundred and eighty million. Do I hear three hundred?”

Kashi raised a hand with authority.

“Three hundred million. Saints.”

A ripple of whispers.

A bold strike but expected from the Saints heir.

Across the room, Damian Gray leaned forward slightly, his expression calm, almost detached.

Yet when he spoke, his voice carried a sharp edge.

“Three hundred and fifty million. Gray Enterprises.”

The tension spiked instantly.

Rivals.

Not allies.

Not family.

Two names everyone thought destined to merge were instead crossing blades in public view.

Then, without a pause, a third voice rolled through the hall smooth, deep, and muffled by the mask that cloaked his face.

“Five hundred million. X Corporation.”

Gasps erupted.

“Half a billion, just like that?”

“They didn’t even blink”

“Is he trying to crush both Saints and Grays at once?”

The masked man sat back with perfect composure, gloved fingers steepled, as if the number had cost him nothing.

Behind him, Xavier stood tall, gaze sweeping the room like a blade, daring anyone to challenge.

Frank’s lips pressed into a thin line.

He muttered under his breath, loud enough only for those nearest him to hear.

“The fox is bleeding us on purpose. He doesn’t want the property he wants to break our pride.”

At the Grays’ table, Damian’s secretary shifted uneasily.

“Sir, should we ”

Damian silenced her with a glance.

His dark eyes fixed on the masked figure across the hall, unreadable, but the tension in his jaw betrayed his thoughts.

For once, even the unshakable Damian Gray seemed weighed down.

The auctioneer swallowed hard, gripping his gavel tighter.

“Five hundred million once…”

The hall held its breath.

“Six hundred million,” Kashi says out loud.

A stir rippled instantly through the grand hall.

Heads turned, whispers sharpened into gasps Kashi Saints herself had entered the fray with a voice as steady as steel.

The auctioneer blinked in surprise, then nodded quickly.

“Six hundred million, Saints Company!”

Frank’s gaze flicked to her, sharp, but he said nothing.

He only adjusted his posture.

Across the room, Damian Gray’s eyes slid to Kashi, lingering for just a beat too long.

Cold.

Calculating.

Yet carrying something else something unreadable.

He raised his hand smoothly.

“Seven hundred million. Gray Enterprises.”

The tension crackled louder.

Gasps.

Murmurs.

To the press seated in the back, this wasn’t just business anymore.

It was blood.

Pride.

Rivalry.

Saints versus Grays before the entire world.

Then, without hesitation, that smooth, muffled voice cut through the air again.

“One billion. X Corporation.”

The hall fell silent.

All eyes swung toward the man in the obsidian mask.

He reclined in his chair as though the figure meant nothing, gloved fingers tapping once on the armrest.

Behind him, Xavier didn’t so much as twitch, his mere presence warning others to keep their distance.

The auctioneer’s hand trembled on the gavel.

“One billion, X Corporation…”

The weight of the number suffocated the room.

Even the Grays’ table went still, Damian’s jaw tightening, though his expression otherwise remained composed.

At the Saints’ side, Frank's hand pressed flat to the table. His voice was low, meant for kashi alone.

“young miss… think carefully. X is playing with us. He doesn’t care what it costs he only wants to see us bleed.”

The spotlight, the silence, the storm of

Kashi stared at the auctioneer, her mind reeling in shock.

One billion dollars?

What?

How could anyone have so much money to waste?

That is impossible.

She looked over to where Company X's representative was sitting, and the only thing that met her gaze was a masked face. She could swear she saw a smirk under that mask.

She couldn’t beat that price.

The Saints company doesn't have that much money to buy the property.

She looked to frank, and his eyes said it all, telling her to back down and give it up.

Kashi clenched her fist in anger, but she had no choice.

One billion dollars was just too much.

“Saints company... withholds from this auction,” she said with a heavy heart and stood up to leave.

The gavel struck down.

“One billion to X Corporation sold!”

The hall erupted with noise.

Some gasped in disbelief.

Others murmured about Saints backing down.

A few chuckled behind raised glasses at the humiliation of a once-assured empire.

Cameras flashed like lightning, catching every angle of the defeat.

Kashi rushed out of the auction house, making a beeline for the bathroom.

Frank's jaw tightened, his expression stone as he rose from his seat with dignity intact, even as executives around him looked pale.

“Damn fox,” he muttered under his breath.

Damian, still seated, watched the entire spectacle with an unreadable expression.

His secretary leaned in, whispering

“Mr. Gray, should I draft a statement? This will cause ripples in the press”

“No,” Damian cut her off coldly.

His gaze flicked briefly toward the Saints’ table toward where she had been.

His jaw clenched once before he turned his attention back to the masked figure.

Who is he?

At the center of it all, Chaos, hidden beneath his obsidian mask, didn’t so much as shift in his chair.

The storm of whispers, the shock, the anger all of it washed over him like waves against stone.

Only Xavier leaned close and murmured,

“You’ve destroyed them, sir.”

Chaos’s gloved fingers tapped once against the armrest.

“Not yet.”

His eyes followed Kashi's retreating form, catching the sharp sway of her dress as she pushed past gawking eyes toward the exit.

His voice lowered, almost amused.

“The game has only begun.”

In the marble-tiled bathroom, silence.

Only the sound of running water from a cracked faucet.

Kashi leaned against the sink, staring at her reflection in the mirror, her chest rising and falling with rage and humiliation.

The room still echoed faintly with the auctioneer’s words.

Company X has won.

But beneath the pounding of her heart… another echo lingered.

That masked face.

That smirk she swore she'd seen.

The bathroom door slammed against the wall as Damian stormed in.

His expression was carved from ice, but his eyes burned with barely contained rage.

“Kashi,” he growled, his voice sharp enough to cut through the hum of the overhead lights.

He took a step closer, his presence towering.

“What the hell were you doing out there? Competing against me in front of the entire board, in front of the world?”

“You knew you couldn’t win. You knew it, and yet you stood there throwing Saints’ money around like a spoiled brat.”

“We are engaged, Kashi. Soon to be married. Our families are on the brink of merger.”

“And you… you humiliated me.”

“Do you have any idea what that looked like?”

“My own fiancée treating me like a rival in public?”

Damian’s jaw clenched hard, his voice dropping low, dripping venom.

“You think this makes me respect you more? It doesn’t.”

“It makes you look desperate.”

“And it makes me look like a fool for tolerating it.”

“Damian I….”

she rushed to grab his hand

“you know I would never do something like that I could never humiliate you.”

“All I wanted to do was show you I could be a much better business partner.”

“You know I am….”

“please let me explain, whichever one of us had won the auction it'll still be yours at then end of the day, we'll be married soon”

kashi clinged onto him

Damian stiffened at her touch, but he didn’t pull away immediately.

His jaw worked, eyes hard as stone, and for a moment it almost looked like he might listen.

But then his lips curled into something colder than anger a bitter smile.

“Kashi,” he said, his voice low, almost cruel in its calm,

“you don’t get it, do you?”

“You think clinging to me makes you my equal?”

“You think waving bids around in front of the world makes you look like a partner?”

He finally yanked his hand free from hers, the motion sharp, final.

His voice rose, cutting through the tiled room like a blade.

“It doesn’t.”

“It makes you look like a spoiled child playing at business.”

“And it makes me look weak for letting you do it.”

He loomed closer, his fury burning now, his words striking where it hurt most.

“You’ll never win my respect like this, Kashi.”

“And you’ll certainly never win my love.”

“Understand that before you embarrass me again.”

The silence that followed was suffocating, her reflection in the mirror showing the flush of humiliation even as his words echoed.

The bathroom door creaked open.

The sound was soft, but it broke the thick silence like a crack of thunder.

Damian turned sharply, his fury still hot, only to find a tall figure stepping through the doorway with unhurried calm.

His presence filled the room instantly, colder and heavier than Damian’s anger.

Behind him, the door shut with a final click.

For a heartbeat, the air shifted Damian’s rage against Kashi’s humiliation, and now this stranger’s suffocating aura.

X's voice slid into the room, low, rich, and sharp as glass.

“Quite the sight… the mighty Damian Gray, heir of empires, shouting at a woman in a bathroom like a scorned lover.”

Damian’s eyes narrowed instantly.

“Who the hell are you? This is a private matter leave.”

X tilted his head, the faintest curve at the edge of his lips beneath the mask.

He didn’t move.

Didn’t flinch.

“Leave?”

His voice was calm, yet laced with disdain.

“No. If anyone should leave, it’s you. Because from where I stand, you’ve already lost.”

Damian took a step forward, bristling.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. This has nothing to do with you.”

But Chaos ignored him, his gloved hand lifting ever so slightly as his masked gaze settled deliberately on kashi.

“She deserves more than venom and pity. She deserves a throne, not chains.”

His words cut like silk, meant for her but sharp enough to wound Damian.

The masked man took a step closer, his presence swallowing the space between you all.

“Tell me, Gray… do you even see her? Or are you too blinded by your own ego?”

The tension in the room was suffocating, Damian’s wrath now clashing with Chaos’s calm disdain.

Two predators, but only one seemed in control.

Kashi took one look at the man who just entered and her face flushed, he's only going to make things worst.

“Mr x, you already won this auction, so congratulations. But this has nothing to do with you,” she say with her heads low.

Damian’s glare lingered a second longer, his eyes locked on the masked man as if trying to burn through that obsidian surface.

A muscle ticked in his jaw, his fists clenched at his side but in the end, he exhaled sharply through his nose, his pride refusing to give Chaos the satisfaction of a scene.

“Stay away from her,” Damian hissed under his breath, his voice meant only for Chaos.

Then he turned, throwing kashi one last look cold, sharp, and heavy with disappointment before storming out, the door slamming behind him.

The bathroom was silent again, save for the faint drip of a faucet.

Chaos remained where he stood, relaxed, as though Damian’s outburst hadn’t touched him.

His head tilted slightly in Kashi’s direction, the mask gleaming under the light.

When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet, almost smooth with amusement.

“You defend him,” he said, “even when he humiliates you.”

He took a slow step closer, his presence heavy but not suffocating, deliberate.

“I’ve seen pride. I’ve seen foolishness. But you… you blur the line between them both.”

He stopped just short of her, his masked gaze lowering slightly, taking her in as though she were more than just a spoiled heiress.

“Tell me, Kashi Saints how long will you bleed for a man who only sees you as a burden?”

Kashi's gaze met the masked man's, but for the first time, words failed her.

She couldn't find a lash-back, a witty remark, or a scathing comment.

The silence was deafening.

“If you don't mind, please excuse me,” she said, her voice neutral, and turned to walk out.

The cool evening air hit her as she stepped out of the auction house.

She slipped into the car, where frank sat, his expression unreadable at first glance.

But as she met his eyes, she sensed approval and pride radiating from him.

“Frank, about the auction...." she began, but he cut her off with a gentle raise of his hand.

His eyes sparkled with a knowing glint.

“You did well, young miss. Sometimes, knowing when to walk away is the greatest victory of all.”
