LENA

The next morning, I pushed the thoughts of whatever was going on in the Hale's mansion aside. I have a business empire to tend to and not wrap myself up in these family intrigues.

I don't care whatever was going on in Victoria’s head or even what the fuck Nathan was up to. All I wanted was an escape from this hellish mansion.

After washing up and getting dressed up, I took one last look at my mint green tailored suit paired with a crisp blouse and fitted trousers. I have an important meeting with one of my clients today and I don't want anything to affect my mood.

On my way out of the room, my phone started buzzing. Thinking it was likely Samantha, I picked it up. My hands shook at the name on the screen.

“ Let's see, Lena. I-”

It was from David and he wanted to see me. A shiver ran down my spine as I recalled our last encounter. I quickly blocked his number, not wanting to deal with him right now.

Then I quickly zoomed off to the company.

Less than two hours later, I slumpe

  • The Vow I Never Took   Divorce? So You Can Be With Him?

NATHAN POV“ The enemy is closer than you think,” I muttered, my gaze fixed on the cryptic note on my desk.I glanced around my home office, a safe haven from those hellish shareholders that won't let go every opportunity to see me fail. It had been like this since I took over as the CEO. Even if it was against my father's wishes.“ Keep hiding. But not for long…”I waved the message off, deciding not to trust whoever sent it. It was probably just some prank or a misguided attempt to unsettle me.As I stood up to leave, my phone buzzed with a text message. I glanced at it, and my expression darkened. I deleted the message without hesitation, trying to control the emotions that threatened to overwhelm me.“ I need a breather,” I muttered, my mind in turmoil.Just then, those soft yet piercing emerald eyes flashed before me. Her defiance warmed through my chaotic mind. Not just that, but that kiss was slowly corrupting my rigid heart.I suddenly felt like seeing her…again. I needed to

  • The Vow I Never Took   Monster? You Are Worse, Dude...

Nathan's POV "This place smells like piss!" King muttered, flicking ash out the car window. He wasn’t wrong. I shifted in my seat, feeling the coffee burn my tongue just so I could feel something other than irritation. We were parked in front of a beat-up trailer that looked like it could tip over if the wind so much as sneezed in its direction. "Are you sure this is the place?" I asked, throwing a quick glance at the rundown street. King nodded, dragging on his cigarette. "I cross-referenced it five times. The burner was purchased with a prepaid Visa that pinged off this zip code and the name matches."I leaned forward and stared harder at the trailer. It was an extremely rundown trailer. “ How the hell does someone living in a box like that afford a burner phone that expensive?""That," King said, blowing out smoke, "is what we're here to find out."We finished the coffee in silence, then I tossed the cup out of the

  • The Vow I Never Took   These Brothers...

Lena's POV Like a flash, I made my way towards the two brothers. Trust me, I was already on the edge of breaking down. I grabbed Nathan's arm and yanked him back. "What the hell are you doing?" I hissed, stepping between him and Sebastian. Nathan didn't say anything to me, but he was breathing hard like he was trying to stop himself from launching at his brother again. And I had a feeling that he would have done just that had I not walked in on them. I turned to Sebastian, who was still on the ground, rubbing his jaw. "Are you alright?" Sebastian winced and flashed a crooked grin. "Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's not a proper Hale family reunion until someone throws a punch, right? It's all good." Nathan shot him a deadly glare, but I caught it. I saw the way his eyes went all dark, and I noticed the tight grit of his jaw. I didn’t get it. How could he still look at his brother like that when the guy

  • The Vow I Never Took   Was It Him?

Lena's POVI stared up at the ceiling for a long time before I finally admitted it to myself: I couldn't stay cooped up in this house anymore. I needed to breathe. I needed to feel like myself again. Grandmother Hale and her rules could go jump off a bridge for all I cared.I hopped into the shower and made the hot water slap some life into me. By the time I was dressed in a pair of gray lady slacks and a black silk top, I actually felt human again. Fake it till you make it, right?I grabbed my bag and headed out. I didn’t get far before I ran straight into Sebastian lounging by the staircase, with his phone clutched in his hand. His eyes went wide when he saw me."Wowwwww," he said, dragging the word out dramatically. "Look at you. Someone is about to break hearts today."I couldn't help but laugh. "Thanks, Sebastian.""Don’t mention it. Just don’t break too many hearts because I’m still trying to recover from the last time," he added with a wink.I rolled my eyes playfully and walk

  • The Vow I Never Took   Wished She Could See Him

Nathan’s POV"King, get in here," I called out.A few seconds later, the door opened, and Adrian King strolled in with a laptop tucked under his arm and a lazy grin plastered on his face. He dropped into the seat across from me and sighed heavily."Morning, sunshine," he said. "I thought you said you didn't want to see me. You look like you haven't slept.""I actually haven't," I muttered, rubbing a hand down my face. "Let's get to it."King set the laptop down, pulled up the file he’d compiled and spun the device around so I could see."Here’s the full list of addresses tied to the burner purchases," he said. "Took some digging, but we got everything that’s even remotely trackable."I scanned through the document quickly and my mood dropped.Out of maybe thirty names, over half weren’t even in the country. Business trips, vacations, study abroad. One clown was on a boat somewhere off the coast of Italy. The rest looked like fake addresses. Burned-out buildings, abandoned houses and e
