Bad Wolf

KACELA

I turned to see my father standing behind me. My nostrils flared; now that I was searching for it I could smell his wolf. I looked up into his eyes and saw that they were black.

“Hi, Bear,” I said.

“Kacela,” he acknowledged. “What are you doing here?”

I shrugged. “I want to talk to my dad,” I said. He smiled.

“I’m here. Let’s talk.”

I shook my head no. “I want to talk to my dad. Give him control back.”

My dad’s eyes flickered dangerously and his voice hardened. “Your father is a weak man who doesn’t deserve me. You’re better off talking to me.”

“Okay, then,” I said, sizing him up. I wondered how this was going to go. I couldn’t imagine Bear going down easily.

“You killed one of the pack members,” I said. “You shouldn’t have done that.”

“He was weak,” Bear said. “He deserved to die.”

“You don’t get to make those judgements. It took me long enough, but I realize now that the way I was raised was wrong.” I looked at him sadly. “I am thinking of all of
