                                                    * Tobias's POV*

After the testing, Cleo, Naomi, and I left into different rooms to get ready for the party. They both didn't say one word to me, they didn't even look at me.

I closed the door of my room behind me and sunk down to the floor. As I hit the floor my falcon shrieked and flew to a ledge and perched himself there.

How could I be so many things?

How was it even possible?

Did my father perhaps have something to do with it?

That last thought wasn't likely. He was just a regular warlock. Although my mam never told me what magic he used. She actually doesn't tell me much about him. Talking about him always made her feel sad. It's the one thing in this world that actually makes her sad.

The falcon shrieked down at me from his perch.

" Come here." I ordered.

He flapped his wings and flew down, stopping right at my feet. He cocked his head side to side. Checking me out from different angles. He let out another shriek. Then I realized he was hungry.

Another thing I forgot to mention about the bond is that the life of the owner of the familiar and the familiar are linked. Meaning if I die he will die as well, but thankfully it is not the other way around, which would cause a lot of problems.

I unwrapped the cloth from my still bloody palm, I reached my hand out and let the blood pour. He opened his beak, letting the last drops fall down his throat. Ounce he had enough he shrieked then flew back up.

" You know I need to give you a name." I stated, only now remembering her needs a name.

Yes, you do master he shrieked.

The communication bond has been created.

" Mm," I tapped a finger to my chin as I thought of the perfect name, then it came to me," how about Halin, after my father. "

Wonderful, I like it. Thank you, master! He shrieked in delight, flapping his wings.

"Anyway, I have to get ready ." I groaned pushing myself up.

I got dressed into the suit my mam got for me. It was just smart black pants with a black button-up shirt, shoes, and a black blazer. If it were up to me I wouldn't be wearing this but regrettably, these parties have to be a formal event.

Ounce I was done getting dressed I had to put on my facial art. It was another tradition that the tested witches would wear paint on their forehead. It would just be a mark showing what magic type they are to use.

So laid before me in bowls was gold paint for an assassin. Green for familiar, red for blood and white for bone.

" Boy I'm gonna have lots of colors." I smirked. Halin responded with a laugh I guess.

I dipped my thumb into the white first and pressed it onto my forehead. Alongside it, I placed green, then red, then gold. I looked back In the mirror and grinned at my forehead.

My moment of pride was interrupted by my hands beginning to tremble.

No, no, no, not now!

I sunk to the floor as my eyesight got blurry, sweet began to grow down my face. All the joints in my body felt like they were locking up, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. My head violently convulsed back against the wall and the vision began.

I was running through a meadow, chasing a girl. I couldn't see her face as her back was turned towards me. We were laughing, we were happy.

I caught up to her and tapped her shoulder. But when I did I tripped, bringing her down with me. We rolled around in the grass. When we stopped, she was on top of me. This just made us laugh harder. I still couldn't see her face, it was a blur.  But I could see her eyes, they

were a bright blue. Then like magnets, our lips were coming closer together. Closer, closer, and

closer.  She stopped just as her lips were going to touch mine.

She

cocked her head and looked deep into my eyes.

" Tobias !" She yelled

it was Naomi's voice. Wait this isn't part of the vision.

"Tobias wake up dammit!" Naomi yelled bringing me back to reality.

I snapped back into reality. Naomi was leaning in front of me. She really looked worried about me. I don't think I've ever seen her actually worried. I didn't like it.

"  What are you looking at ?" I growled, pushing myself up.

" I came in here to see how you were. I opened the door and saw you in a full-on vision. What was it about?"

She got up and basically got right up in my face. I only now noticed that she was wearing a pretty sexy dress.

The dress suited her figure well

The dress suited her figure well. Her normally pink lips are painted bright red. She has lightly applied make-up making her blue eyes shine. Her short blond hair is clipped back into a neat bun.

" Well, what was your vision?" She asked, dramatically raising her arms.

" Nothing important to you. And if you tell anyone that I had a vision then I'll gut you myself. I mean I am going to train as an assassin. " I hissed.

" Fine, I won't tell anyone ." She sighed.

A loud shriek came up from the perch but it wasn't Halin. I looked up, Naomi's eagle had seated itself next to Halin.

" What did you name it ?" I asked.

" Her name is Lily, after my grandmother and my favourite flower. What about him, what's his name ?"

" Halin, after my father. Because apparently that was his name. " I scoffed at my little knowledge of my own father.

" That's sweet." She smiled.

" Don't call it sweet." I growled.

" Jeez, sorry grumpy." She laughed.

The door creaked opened and Cleo walked in. She too wore a black dress but she was just a bit bolder in her choice.

Unlike Naomi, she went bolder with her make-up choice. Blood red lipstick,  red blush, and gold eyeshadow making her normally cold black eyes seem friendly. Her ebony black hair is loose hanging below the shoulder.

" What are you guys up to?" She asked leaning against the door frame.

" Just talking." I shrugged.

A loud bang of a cracker made Halin and Lilly shriek and fly down to us.

" Don't like that noise, don't like that noise!"  Halin repeated.

" Don't you worry bud, it's over." I chuckled stroking his neck.

" Come on love birds, it's time to party. " Cleo smirked.

" So what do you think?" Naomi asked.I gazed out at her masterpiece. After the engagement, Naomi insisted she had to be our wedding planner. Neither Ava nor I could disagree. It was very obvious that Naomi had a better flair for decorating and all that other important things than we did so we let her have free rein over this whole thing and I certainly don't regret it.The church looked unrecognizable. White and gold cloth hung over the ceiling and down the walls. A gold aisle ran along the floor up to the rose-covered altar. The back of every pew was also laced with the cloth and secured with blood-red roses." It is absolutely amazing," I smiled," Must have taken you hours."" Nope, it only took half an hour. Life works faster when you still have magic." She smirked.Ever since that night we defeated the witches Naomi has been droning me that now that I am human she is the greatest between the two of us. And technically she is right. Some

My father and the rest of the men had stepped back, letting me have my space.Naomi kneeled silently next to me muttering something under her breath." What are you doing?" I asked her." Praying." She said." I thought witches didn't pray to God." One of the men said. They all looked at her for her answer, for her explanation." We don't," She chuckled," We pray to many things. We pray to the Dark Lord when we want gifts. We pray to Lillith when we want protection. But in this case, when a witch's soul and in some cases their body leave this physical plane we pray to

And all I could think about was Ava and all I could hear was her cries, and all I could see were her tears. All I could see was Ava and then nothing.I la

She smiled as she gently rubbed my shoulder." Are you sure?" I asked." Yes, I am."I wasn't sure what the feeling was or where it was coming from but I am sure Tobias is going to do something. Rain began to pour down on us as we ran to the temple. Naomi and I led the charge. Lightning flashed the sky and thunder roared. When we reached the outer rim of the meadow where the temple sat we stopped and ducked beneath the tree line." What is the plan?" Naomi asked." I'll go in and when I give the signal you rush in." I explained." And what exactly is the signal?"" You will know when you see it." I said.I looked out at all the men. All of them were nervous and scared, but they were also very determined to stop the coven. And so am I.I took a deep breath then ran across the meadow and into the temple. The walk to the arena was filled with fear. I peered around every corner waiting for someone to jump out and attack me but nobody came. When I reached the arena the whole coven was sitting in their usual spots. Even my aunt who never showed a drop of malice was there, a glare of hatred in her eyes." A
