Malia
It's been two days since the patrol team found Victoria unconscious at the borders. She's been drifting in and out of consciousness since then.Victoria's eyes fluttered open, her gaze filled with confusion as she took in her surroundings. Two days of drifting in and out of consciousness had left her disoriented, but one sight brought a flicker of surprise to her face - Zade, standing by her side.I tried not to show my discomfort towards the relief that appeared on her face after seeing Zade. For goddess's sake, Malia! She's injured. I silently chided myself for letting my jealousy and insecurities cloud my mindI'm caught off guard when Victoria reaches out and pulls Zade into a loving embrace. My heart sank at the sight, realizing that their connection ran deeper than I had initially thought. But I pushed my feelings aside, reminding myself to be there for Zade.As they held each other, Zade gently pulled away and began questioning Victoria, concern etched across his face. "Victoria, do you by any chance remember what happened to you?"Victoria's voice trembled as she struggled to find the right words. "Zade, I don't remember much. It's all a blur. I remember getting attacked, and beaten up... and then everything went dark. The next thing I remember is waking up here. I'm just grateful to be alive." Victoria mutters weakly. My gaze remains on her.I take a step closer to introduce myself and I notice Zade's grip on Victoria's hand tightened, his protective instincts kicking in. "We'll figure it out, Victoria. You're safe now. Just focus on healing."Victoria nodded, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Zade. And who is she?" she asks, glancing in my direction.Zade turned towards me, a small smile playing on his lips. "This is Malia, she's my mate. She's been taking care of you while you were unconscious." Victoria's expression reveals nothing of how she may be feeling so I relax visibly.I stepped closer again, offering a warm smile. "Hi, Victoria. I'm Malia. It's nice to meet you, although I wish it were under better circumstances. You're welcome to stay here for as long as you need. The pack doctor will take care of you. I'm here if you need me too."Victoria's eyes filled with appreciation as she looked between Zade and me. "Thank you, Malia. I'm grateful for your kindness.""You're welcome. Zade and I will leave you to rest now," I tell her."If you don't mind, Malia. I think I'll stay here with, Victoria for some time." Zade says instead of standing up to follow me."Oh, no you don't have to. I'm fine.""It's okay. I'll stay with you, at least until you go back to sleep."I look between both of them, trying desperately to catch Zade's eye and see if he'll change his mind once he looks at me. When he doesn't I change my mind about leaving. "Oh, no worries then. I'm sure we can both stay.""No, Malia it's fine. I'm sure you have Luna's duties to perform. It's fine if only Zade stays, I don't want to hold you back." She smiles sweetly and then at ZadeI chuckle awkwardly, "I assure you, you're not holding me back. I'd like to-""You don't have to, Malia. I'll join you soon." Zade cuts me off, instantly dismissing my decision to stay.I nod sadly before walking out and slamming the door harder than I intended.I'm not this type of person. I'm not the girl that gets jealous about a woman."But this isn't any woman. It's his ex and probably his first love." My subconscious chirps making the entire situation worse.I step outside of the house and inhale deeply before exhaling as I let the fresh air calm me.I decide to take a quick walk around the pack grounds. Hopefully, when I come back my head will be clearer and I'll be much calmer. As I draw closer to the training grounds, I can hear the sound of training weapons clashing accompanied by the grunts from the warriors that are training. I see Elder Zelda from a distance and before I can finish contemplating the path to take in avoiding her, she begins to walk toward me.I ignore my thoughts, turn around begin walking in the other direction. "Luna!" she calls after me and I stop before facing her.The way she smiles so sweetly it would be hard to believe she's one of the people conspiring to have Zade take another mate."Zelda!" I greet her with fake enthusiasm, also making sure to drop her title. She doesn't deserve it anymore. "How are you?""I'm fine, How are you? With everything going on? I heard Victoria is back," she smiles and looks away briefly.I'm taken aback by the first name basis "Victoria. You know her?""Oh, yes!" She chuckles "All the Elders know her. We all watched those two grow together and fall in love, they're each other's first loves, I tell you." Zelda explains and my gut churns even more. "Such a shame what happened to her, you know. Those two were like two peas in a pod. It's a miracle she's back now and at such a time too." She stares at me as she says the last part."Hm," I mutter weakly. I can feel my doubts and insecurities weighing on me as her words ring in my head"I was just telling my mate how none of us can mess with fate. No matter what happens, Fate always takes its toll."I try to muster a smile but all I can do is stare blankly and blink back tears. I can't show Zelda that her words are getting to me. She wants a reaction, and she's not afraid to show me how happy she is that Victoria is back. I'm betting all the other Elders are happy about it too.I'm sure they're already plotting ways to have her become-No, Malia. You shouldn't think like that.Trust, Zade."E-excuse me, Zelda. But I have to go." I mutter before turning the other way without sparing Zelda another glance or waiting to hear if she has anything else to say."Are you okay, Luna?" I hear Zelda calling from behind me but I don't stop speed walking to the house. "You look a bit pale." I can hear the joy of knowing she got to me in her voice laced with venom. But I don't stop until I get to the house I share with Zade.Out of breath, I keep running up the stairs. I push open the guest room door without knocking, what I see has me frozen and almost believing that what Zelda said about Fate is true.Malia My heart raced as I hurried back to the pack house, my mind filled with insecurities planted by Elder Zelda's words. I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease, fearing that Zade might still be in the room with his ex, Victoria. The thought of them together made my insecurities heighten, and I couldn't help but imagine the worst.Does he still love her?Does he think she'll make the perfect Luna for him?As I reached the house, I ran upstairs to the guest room, my breath catching in my throat. To my surprise, the scene that greeted me was not what I had expected. There, in the room, I saw Zade sitting, while Victoria was lying on the bed and now in some new and neat pair of clothes, and she seemed to be in better spirits than when she was found. They were too caught up in their moment of laughter to notice my presence. The way they laughed and talked felt like she hadn't gone missing at all. As if she has been here all this while.Confusion and concern washed over me as I a
Malia As the days turned into weeks, three weeks to be precise. I made a conscious decision to accept Victoria's presence in our home and be understanding, even though it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I wanted to support Zade and make this situation work, no matter what.I never knew how wrong and impossible that would be. One day, while they were in the middle of a training session, something unexpected happened. I was standing behind Victoria when she slipped lost her balance and fell to the ground. She lets out a piercing scream. My heart raced as I rushed to her side, concerned for her well-being. "Oh, goddess! Victoria are you alright?" I placed my fingers on her leg checking for injuries.Zade comes rushing, looking extra scared and worried "V, are you okay? What happened?""She fell. It's okay I just checked everywhere, she seems fine." I reassure him before turning to her, "Victoria are you okay? Can you-"Let go of me! This is all your fault. You pushed me!" Vi
MALIALily stiffened and sharply looked up at me, her eyes so distant and full of shock. It was as if she was looking at a ghost."Y… you can't be serious, right?" She asked breathlessly, staring at me with sullen eyes.I sniffled. "How could I be joking about such a thing? Lily," I squeezed her shoulders. "You've been my best friend for like forever. I hope you can do this one thing for me. Just this one thing. Please."Lily staggered backwards and lowered her gaze to the floor, her shoulders drooped. She looked to be in thoughts but at the same time, looked like she was battling with her emotions. The sight of her this way broke my heart. It left tears streaming down my cheeks. Been a while I cried this hard."Please." I whispered."Malia," she slowly looked up at me, meeting my gaze. "I know you are going through a difficult time, but do you really think running away is the best solution? You are the Luna of the pack, or the soon-to-be Luna, how can you abandon everything and run aw
MALIAI ran back to my room in tears, my heart still in disbelief of what just happened.I could remember like it was yesterday when Victoria was brought back to the pack. When I looked at her and learned she had a wolf, I'd felt threatened, but I had termed it as me being insecure. I could remember asking Zade if there was anything I should be worried about and while he responded that there wasn't, he lost his temper at me and made it seem like I was accusing him wrongly. Like I was doubting his trust and love for me. But now, this was it...This was where all that trust and love ended. He betrayed me without looking back. He didn't care about all we'd been through together. He didn't care about what we shared. I sniffled, wrapping the duvet over me as tears streamed down my cheeks. For some weird reason, even while I cried, my gaze was locked onto the door. No, it was not for some weird reason, but because I was waiting to see if the doorknob would be twisted and if Zade would rush
Malia's POVEscaping had to be the hardest thing that I've done in the last few years and I couldn't help but run as far as my legs could carry me. I didn't have my wolf to help me with stamina. All I could think of was how to get out of this godforsaken place. It was unhealthy for me. I dodged behind many trees to escape the border patrol guards and finally, I snuck out to the forest. Running through the forest was the worst thing that I could pass through. My legs were shaking due to the intensity of the run.I refused to wait. This was a dangerous turf and only the fittest could survive. Being without a wolf made me an easy prey and target and heaven forbid that I stayed here without protection.Having no direction, I decided to move as my instincts led me. I came to the crossroads. Going left would take me to the next pack. I had forgotten the name of the pack. That was roughly a two-hour journey on foot. I could pretend to be lost. I just hoped that no one would recognize me b
Malia's POVMy eyebrows shut up, at the sound of the deep masculine voice behind me. Everything went silent the minute his voice echoed in the air. So silent that you could hear a pin drop to the floor.“She's got company!” I heard the rogues whisper to themselves.“What's holding you men back from taking her?” One of the rogues yelled, joining the others. The one who spoke looked older and had a scar over his left eye, which he definitely must have gotten from an opponent that I bet was dead now. “Grab the girl now!” He ordered, but the others stayed put with their eyes glued on the gentleman behind me.“Careful how you finish that sentence boy,” The Man behind me grimaced. “Is that aura I perceive?” The older rogue asked. “Get them!” He added with a smile creased on his face. Two rogue men came barreling in. They were running right for us. I ducked, burying my face in the dirt confused about what to do next. “Alpha Ryder!!” Someone behind the bushes stirred, “So that was his name”
Malia’s POVAs we ran down the hill, I could see the bravery wrapped around his cold face, by now we had gone far into the woods. I could still hear the voice of his comrades rallying further to the riverside.“what if the rogues are not just the ones I saw ?” I said to myself quietly. My mind was running across a thousand realities, well at least I was not alone anymore so whatever happens he would probably help out, just like he is doing now.“ Who could this be? Was this the way the moon wanted to console me in my peril?” I kept thinking. He was dressed in a black jacket with the name Ryder written on the back. Perhaps that might be his name. His blond hair was scattered already and messy. Before long we got to the edge of the river, although it was a small river the current and waves were ferocious.“Can you swim?” he asked. That was the second time I heard his voice. Cold, sweet but deep to an extent.“Yes, looking at the way things are going I think I can try,” I told him hearte
Malia’s POVMany told Ania that the words of the seer were lies, but blinded by love and fear for her mate. She gave in to the words of the seer. Unfortunately, death met her and her lover on their way from the pack. They were attacked by a pack of wandering wolves who called themselves the Unborn.Ania's story is still very much talked about to date In the pack, although it was said in hush tones because the tale was considered a bad omen. My mom told me her soul still longs for children’s blood now. Any time I remember her words I laugh because I believe the tales were told to scare children. The reality before now tells me more than I thought existed. My story was already similar to hers but without an end yet. I kept trying to wave off the thought from my head but the more I tried the more it fisted on my wit.“Was this the end game ?” I thought quietly. No, I am Melia. I am not Ania and I won’t die in this wood like any wolf would. All this was what I kept repeating in my head th
