Chapter 3

Author: Eggtart
After arriving at the hospital, the smell of food on my body and the dried blood below drew disgusted stares and pointing fingers from everyone.

One mocked, "That's the shameless woman who went viral. She's into some twisted stuff, getting herself all bloody like that. If I got exposed like that, I'd have killed myself already, but she still has the nerve to show her face in public."

Someone else wrinkled their nose and said, "You could smell that nasty scent on her from far away. Why is someone like that still alive? She should just hurry up and die."

It felt like I had been stripped naked and exposed to the entire world.

I hung my head low as wave after wave of humiliation tore my heart open. Biting my lip hard, I clutched my abdomen and struggled forward with difficulty.

Finally reaching the OB-GYN department, I waited in line outside for my number. Everyone around me could not get far enough away from me.

When it was my turn, a patient from outside barged in and yanked me up from the chair.

She shouted, "Doctor, you can't treat her. We won't allow it! She's filthy, and we refuse to share the same doctor with someone like her."

Another person immediately echoed, "Exactly. She didn't care about her own body, so if she gets sick and dies, she deserves it. Don't treat her, or we'll all report you."

The doctor had no choice but to shake his head and tell me to leave.

I was driven out by the mob, and they kicked and punched me like I was a punching bag.

Eventually, the crowd gradually dispersed. I lay helplessly on the ground, watching their mouths open and close, nearly driving me insane.

In my heart, I screamed silently, begging someone to save me. I truly could not hold on anymore.

Just then, Timothy suddenly appeared at the OB-GYN entrance with Gracie in his arms. The moment he looked at me, there was a hint of sympathy in his eyes.

He was about to reach out to help me up, but Gracie started crying in fear, pretending to cower behind Timothy.

"Alyssa, don't get the wrong idea. Timothy is only here because he's worried about me and came with me for my prenatal checkup. Our relationship is completely innocent."

I remained expressionless, already numb. I just nodded slightly without saying anything more.

However, Timothy could not stand my attitude and crouched down, grabbing my hand fiercely,

He scolded, "What's that supposed to mean? Didn't I tell you not to make Gracie cry? She's sensitive, so speak to her gently. Get up and apologize to Gracie!"

Did he really expect to control every word I said now? How ridiculous.

I turned my head away, refusing to speak, tears of grievance welling up in my eyes.

Timothy stared at me intently, the fierceness in his eyes gradually fading. Finally, he sighed helplessly. "As long as you apologize, I'll clear up the rumors right now."

What good would clearing them up now do?

I had already been humiliated in public, and my photos had long since been spread everywhere. Still, I knew that if I apologized, Timothy would do even worse things to me just to teach me a lesson, making my life a living hell.

I slowly got up, but cramping in my abdomen made it impossible to stand straight.

I bent over and said through gritted teeth, "I'm sorry..."

I did not owe Gracie anything, much less Timothy. This apology was just to save my own life. Just as I was about to lift my head, everything suddenly went black, and I collapsed.

When I woke up again, I was lying in Timothy's villa.

Standing beside me was Timothy's private doctor, Connor Garcia.

Connor's expression was difficult to decipher as he said, "There's no way you can keep the baby in your condition. You'll be lucky if you can even save your own life. From now on, you… should take better care of your body."

He clearly believed I was that kind of woman, too. This impression was already rooted in their minds; explanation was futile.

Timothy suddenly entered the room, and Connor gave him a slight nod before speaking.

"Mrs. Blackwood had a miscar–"

Before he could finish, Timothy cut him off. "Alyssa, you've rested long enough. You should have recovered your strength by now, right? Gracie is moving in, and tonight, we're throwing her a welcome party. As the lady of the house, you need to be there to welcome her."

I could not figure Timothy out anymore. Then again, that no longer mattered to me, and I had no interest in understanding him either. After glaring furiously at Gracie being thrown out, Timothy suppressed his temper, turned, and looked at me with eyes full of tenderness."Alyssa, I told you before, my love is yours only. How about we go on a vacation? What about traveling around the world?"Perhaps because I had quietly stayed here for the past few months, Timothy assumed I had already forgiven him.I stared at him coldly and took a few steps back. "Timothy, it's time for us to get divorced."I glanced at my watch. "We still have time today. Let's go get the divorce papers finalized."Timothy's eyes widened in shock first, then his face filled with terror. "Alyssa, I've already cleared away all the obstacles between us. I won't force you to let Gracie live with us anymore. It's only going to be the two of us in this house."You've been so much more stable these past few days. Wh

Hearing Timothy's words, I could not help but laugh out loud.Cleared my name? Did he expect me to thank him for that? The impression people had of me was already branded in their minds, and there was no way to erase it. Besides, the moment my photos spread and my dress fell off in public, my body had already been exposed to everyone.Just thinking about it made my chest tighten until I could barely breathe. Despite that, I still forced myself to overcome it. After surviving this near-death experience, I realized some things were not as important as they seemed.Since I had survived, there was still a long road ahead of me. Sooner or later, I would have to face it.I unclenched my fists that had turned white from gripping so hard."Whatever this is, it's not working out. My feelings for you died a long time ago. I don't have any love left for you–only hate."Timothy, for the rest of my life, I don't want anything to do with you."Timothy broke down, covering his face with his h

Several doctors came into my ward, all marveling at what they called a medical miracle.Aside from blinking my eyes, I made no other move.Timothy noticed something was wrong and quickly asked the doctor what was going on.The doctor looked at me and explained, "The patient just woke up and isn't ready to face reality yet. She's trying to numb herself. She'll need proper psychological counseling."After checking me thoroughly and confirming there were no other issues, they left.Timothy slowly approached me. He bent down gently in front of me, cautiously. The moment he took my hand, he broke down crying."Alyssa, you finally woke up. Do you know how much I missed you this past year? There were so many times I felt like I couldn't keep going anymore."As he spoke, he buried his head and sobbed quietly. All I felt was disgust, though. I did not understand why he was acting so desperate, and I did not want him touching me.I yanked my hand away forcefully, then turned over with a

Timothy gritted his teeth and roared, "Those were all lies! All of them were lies! She's not that kind of person. Alyssa is a good person!"As he spoke these words, his voice began to tremble. He was almost too afraid to face reality, but he frantically pushed through the crowd anyway. When he saw me lying in a pool of blood, it was as if all the strength drained out of his body. His legs gave out as he collapsed to his knees. He crawled over to my side, wanting to hold me, but he did not even dare touch me.He screamed at the top of his lungs, "Call an ambulance! Someone, call an ambulance! Alyssa is a good person. There's still a chance!"Everyone looked at him like he was a madman. Finding the scene boring, they waved dismissively and dispersed.Timothy frantically pulled out his phone and called for an ambulance....The surgery lasted all night long. Timothy stayed outside the operating room without closing his eyes once. He had already prepared himself for the worst. If Al

Pierre frantically sprinted downstairs.Timothy's hand froze in place, his mind racing. 'Jumped off a building? How's that possible? Alyssa values her life! None of whatever's been happening crushed her. Even with her reputation now, I've never actually despised her. Besides, I've long ago decided that I'd take care of her for the rest of her life.'However, Pierre did not sound like he was lying.Timothy's heart pounded as he dropped everything and rushed to the party venue at top speed. As I fell from the building, my mind played through everything from when Timothy and I first met to our wedding like a montage. It was almost laughable, really. My parents had been close friends with his grandmother, Agatha Pearce. Before I could refuse, Timothy threw a dress at me and left. That evening, I changed into the outfit he gave me and went to the party. I had planned to find a corner where no one would notice me.However, when Gracie saw me and shouted, "Alyssa's here? Come over here! I'm counting on you to take good care of me in this house from now on."In an instant, dozens of eyes were fixed on me. Their stares made me tremble.I lowered my head in fear, and Gracie ran over to take my hand with fake affection. "Alyssa, could you go up on stage and say a few words to welcome me? If you don't, I won't feel comfortable moving in."I stiffly shook my head. How was this any different from a public execution?Gracie started crying again, and Timothy looked at her with such distress. He glared at me viciously and asked, "Don't you want me to clear your name?"At this point, clearing my name did not matter anymore. However, I was afraid of what other tactics Timothy might use. With that, I dragged
