—•AVERY•—

The wind was cold against my skin as I parked the car far from Damon’s mansion. I switched off the headlights, leaving only the sound of my heartbeat in the dark silence. From this distance, the mansion looked even more intimidating—lit up, guarded, alive. Every shadow seemed like an eye watching me.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly, remembering the first time I was here. I’d almost been caught that night. If not for the moonlight and luck, I would have been standing in a cell right now—or worse, at Damon’s mercy.

But tonight, it was different. I wasn’t here to play smart. I was here to save my son.

I adjusted my mask, making sure it covered every part of my face. Just as I reached for the door, my phone beeped. Jess.

My thumb hovered over the unread message for a second, but then I dropped it back into my pocket. Not now. Liam came first. Always.

I got out of the car quietly and started moving. The night air bit at my neck, but I ignored it. My boots made no sound as I

—AVERY POV— Jess nudged my arm gently. “You good?”I nodded. “Yeah. Just thinking.”“Don’t think too much,” she whispered. “We got you.”Soon, the imposing gates of the Ironcrest Pack territory came into view. Patrols, dressed in dark uniforms, stepped forward, their faces stern in front of the headlights. Jayden rolled down his window, his demeanor shifting instantly to one of cool authority.“Identification,” one of the guards barked.Jayden handed over a sleek, black card. The guard inspected it, nodded once, and stepped aside.“Welcome to Ironcrest!” As the gates opened, Jess and Jayden both leaned forward at the same time.“Holy shit,” Jayden whispered.Jess covered her mouth. “Oh my God… this place is… huge.”Ironcrest stretched out like a city. Houses, training grounds, towers, lights everywhere. People moved around, their presence strong and organized. Power was in the air—thick, heavy, undeniable.“Damon is insane,” Jayden murmured. “How can one Alpha control all of this?”

  • The Wrong Alpha’s Heir    Chapter 164

—AVERY— It been two years. Two long weeks of peace. The moment Jayden jumped out of the car, arms spread wide like he owned the whole place, his voice boomed across the yard.“It feels good to be back to the pack!” Jayden yelled as he jumped out of the car like an overexcited puppy.I laughed under my breath. Only Jayden could be this dramatic. Behind him, the car door slammed hard.Jess climbed out, her hair flipping with elegance. “Can you stop shouting?” she snapped at him, then scoffed like she regretted being seen with him.I couldn’t help it—I chuckled. My heart warmed instantly. My two best friends in the entire world were finally here.I stood in front of the White Claw pack house, the morning sun warm on my skin, and my heart softened instantly when I saw them. Before they even reached me, I already opened my arms.Jayden rushed forward first, dropping his bag and wrapping his arms around me.“Welcome,” I whispered against his shoulder. He hugged back just as tight. “Miss

  • The Wrong Alpha’s Heir    Chapter 163

—AVERY’S POV—The night felt heavier than my own heartbeat as I drove back to the hideout alone. My hands were tight on the steering wheel, my knuckles stiff and white. I kept thinking about Liam… how scared he must be… how small he still was.I prayed I wasn’t too late. When I finally reached the deserted spot, the same place they always picked me up, the masked men were already waiting—leaning against their van like they were bored of life. The second they saw me, they straightened, and their familiar ugly laughter floated through the air.“Well, well,” one of them mocked. “Look who’s back.”The other whistled. “Pretty mama’s here again. Still not tired of crying over that pup?”I said nothing. My chest burned with anger but I pushed it down. Anything reckless would put Liam’s life at risk again.“Hands up,” the taller one ordered.I raised my hands, the same way I had earlier before. One came behind me and tied the blindfold tight over my eyes.“Tsk. Shame to cover that face,” he m

—AVERY— I didn’t know how long I had been sitting in the hospital parking lot.Five minutes…Ten…An hour…Time didn’t make sense anymore. My chest hurt like someone had pushed a fist inside me and squeezed. My hands were shaking on my lap, and my eyes were swollen from crying, but the tears just kept coming. I kept wiping them, but they still fell, warm and heavy. Every time I closed my eyes, all I saw the pictures from the headlines. Damon’s car crashed and bloodied… and Liam’s terrified face when he realized something terrible had happened. My whole world was falling apart… and it was my fault. When I finally lifted my head… Lucas was still there. He stood a few steps away, leaning against a pillar, arms folded, face tense. It looked like he wanted to approach me but didn’t know how. When our eyes met, he straightened, his usual calm expression softening for a moment.I sniffed and slowly pushed myself up from the ground.“Lucas…” I whispered, my voice rough from crying. “Please.

—AVERY—The next morning, sunlight slipped past the curtains and stretched slowly across the room. The warmth touched my face, nudging me awake. I blinked, groggy, confused for a second. This wasn’t my room. The unfamiliar walls… the faint hotel smell… the clothes thrown everywhere last night…And then everything came rushing back.My heart squeezed painfully. The banquet.
The parking lot.
The masked man.I jerked upright, my heart thudding so hard it shook my ribs. My phone lay beside me on the bed, the screen lighting up again and again. When I picked it up—My breath caught.50 missed calls. All from Taylor. Jayden. Jess. Uncle Knox.My stomach twisted hard. Something wasn’t right. Something horrible must’ve happened. I sat up, fingers trembling as I called Jess. She picked up immediately on the first ring. Her voice wasn’t normal. It was shaking. Panicked.“Avery? Oh my God, where have you been? Have you seen the news?”The bottom of my stomach dropped. My heart dropped straigh

—AVERY—The car engine roared the moment I hit the road, but I barely heard it. My hands were tight on the steering wheel, my fingers stiff, cold, shaking. I couldn’t stop trembling. My whole body felt like it was buzzing with panic, like something inside me was screaming and wouldn’t stop.I kept heard Liam’s cry in my head.“Alice… Alice!”My chest twisted painfully. I stepped harder on the accelerator. The speedometer jumped. Trees blurred past on both sides of the deserted road as I rushed toward the city.“How am I supposed to do this?” I whispered to myself, my voice trembling. How was I supposed to kill Damon Sinclair?Yes, Damon had hurt me. He had broken me too many times, made me cry, made me question myself. Sometimes I wanted to hurt him back so badly because of everything he put me through. But kill him?Kill the father of my son?I shook my head as tears blurred my eyes. “No. I don’t have that kind of heart,” I said quietly, my voice cracking. “I can’t. I can’t kill him.
