Chapter 9

It was from Liam.

As their eyes met, a warm smile appeared on Liam’s face as he nodded in acknowledgment towards Claire.

At that moment, Claire felt as if she was not as nervous anymore. Pressing her lips together, she smiled at Liam as well.

Claire felt that Liam was an extremely gentle person.

These actions did not escape Mason’s eyes.

A cold flash appeared in his eyes as they narrowed. “Caregiver.”

“Huh?”

The audience could not understand. What did Mason mean by ‘caregiver’?

Even Claire could not get it.

“President Yeich, who did you say she was again?”

Mason’s eyes were as black as the night sky. He raised his eyebrows as he responded to the person who had asked the question, “A caregiver. Grandfather hired her to take care of me.”

Claire’s face paled at the malicious words. She lowered her eyes to look at him.

She was supposed to be his assistant. Why had she become his caregiver?

“Coffee.” As she was deep in thought, Mason spoke coldly.

Claire stood unmoving. Simon, who had understood the hidden meaning behind Mason’s words, winked at Claire. Only then did she react.

Alright, making coffee, that was part of an assistant’s job as well.

Claire left the conference room to make coffee.

When she came back with the coffee, the meeting had already started. Claire placed the coffee in front of Mason.

After taking a sip, Mason’s eyebrows wrinkled. “Are you trying to kill me with this sweetness?”

Simon’s expression darkened. “Young Master Yeich does not take sugar in his coffee.”

“Change it!”

Claire had no choice, but to make a fresh cup of coffee for Mason.

“It’s too bland.”

Change it again!

Hah, there’s too little water in this.

The conference room had become an arena for everyone to watch Mason bullying others. The stares coming from all directions made Claire want to crawl into a hole.

She wanted to lose her temper and pour the coffee all over Mason’s head while telling him she was done.

However, when she thought of her parents at home, Claire repressed her temper and went out to make a fresh cup of coffee.

Bang!

He slammed the cup heavily on the table, startling everyone nearby.

“How do you expect to be my caregiver if that’s all you got?”

Claire stood rooted to the spot, her face flush white.

Sitting not too far away, Liam frowned slightly as he could not help but say, “Mason, that’s enough.”

Oh? Speaking up for her?

It seemed that this woman was good at what she did.

The smile on Mason’s lips grew even colder. “Brother, are you feeling sorry for my caregiver? Should I give her to you?”

Liam, “...”

Fingertips trembling, Claire bit on her lower lip.

This was too much!

She finally understood why he had agreed to let her stay. It was just so she could be humiliated!

In Mason’s eyes, she was nothing more than a woman who would do anything to marry into a family of riches and gold. That was why he hated her so much.

“Mason, why are you doing this? After all, she’s your…”

Before the word ‘wife’ could leave his tongue, he was interrupted coolly by Simon. “It’s just a cup of coffee, don’t you think you’re butting in too much into other people’s business, vice president Yeich?”

Liam seemed to want to say more in defense of Claire, but before he could say anything, she said before him, “I’ll make a fresh cup for Young Master Yeich right now.”

After saying that, she grabbed the cup and left.

One cup, two cups, three cups…

Claire ran back and forth for as long as the meeting went on. Mason was never satisfied, but she did not even complain once.

When the meeting ended, she was still making coffee.

Simon was beginning to pity her. When he saw that everyone had left, he bent down and whispered to Mason, “Young Master Yeich, why don’t we stop now? As long as she has learned her lesson.”

Mason laughed coldly. “If you don’t treat a woman as vain as her this way, who knows when she’ll understand to back off?”

He was intrigued to see how long she could endure it.
