The way the employee looked at Sarah was seemingly probing, ‘You’re not his stepmother, are you?’

“I just haven’t gotten around to living with him for a while,” Sarah said, feeling victimized. Xander was not her child so it was perfectly normal for her not to know much about him.

“That’s even worse. A parent shouldn’t just neglect their children for the sake of their own joy. Those kinds of parents are terrible.”

Sarah was going to keep defending herself and meanwhile, James had enjoyably picked a piece of kid’s clothes. “I’ll have one of these.”

“Sure. I’ll get it for you.” The employee was very attentive to James and proceeded to pick the size for it.

Hence, one of them chose the garments, the other got the size. It only took them around 10 minutes to finish clothes shopping for Xander…

Checking out with two carts filled with stuff, James passed Xander over to Sarah’s arms and said, “Wait for me outside.”
