28. Connected

Javier's POV

The moment i  entered my room, i  headed right for the mini-bar. Maria  had shaken him to the core. Even just spending time with her had been something else, something simply fantastic.

  A short while later, as i sat out on my balcony drinking a scotch, i realized that i could still sense Maria's taste, even after the strong drink. It was there, on my lips, mouth and tongue. I  closed his eyes for a minute and thought about how Maria had looked last night.

Same woman. Same sex appeal. I  was convinced that no matter what Maria wore, she would always grab his attention and draw him in.

And that was what worried him. He didn't want any woman to have that ability. I'd become used to protecting my heart...and my mental state. I couldn't risk falling into that black hole again.
