I just knew something was out to get me. I mean, how could someone have such rotten luck?, and that unlucky someone is me? I was gobsmacked when I saw Rowan in the elevator.

The words that his friend Keith was saying sounded like gibberish to me; I didn’t hear any of them as my mind went blank. His dark stare, which sized me up from head to toe was pretty intimidating.

I felt like I couldn’t breathe, but I felt an inner heat inside me from his heated gaze, and a part of me became hot with a brewing want. Call me stupid, but as much as he irked me, I couldn’t stop the unwavering pull of desire towards him.

I cut off eye contact with him, looking for any other way out. I saw a narrow escape when the elevator doors were about to close, and I took it, and I thank God that he didn’t pull or call me back for an explanation. I would explain it to him at home.
