I grabbed my phone from my bedside and dialed Sophia’s number. She picked on the second ring but sounded drowsy. She must have fallen asleep once she got home and I started to feel my anger dissipate at that thought.

Sophia was slowly becoming a weak point for me and I was just realising it.

Was this how she got into Aiden’s head too and won his heart?

“Hey Damien. Is anything wrong? You called” she said sleepily and I shook my head even though she couldn’t see me.

“Just thought of checking up on you, but I didn’t realize you’d be asleep by now. You must be so tired, huh?” I asked her and for a moment, she was quiet.

“Yeah, yeah. I never knew that hosting an event would be this tiring but thankfully, it paid off. We got a lot of donations and it’s going to go a long way for us” she said.

Her sleepy voice was slightly filled with excitement while she spoke about the foundation and I smiled to myself… she really loved that foundation and the people she helped.
