“Miss Hale, have you heard the shocking news this morning?” Janet had barged into my office, her eyes wide and filled with excitement as she breathed heavily.

I eyed her closely while wondering what it could be that'd gotten her to look so excited and I gestured at her to come into the office.

“What news? Does it have to do with our business or does it have to do with the snobs we work with?” I asked her and she grinned as she took a seat before me.

“It's about Mr Cross, ma'am and it's huge!” She exclaimed and my heart skipped a beat when I heard Aiden's name.

It had been a week since that morning in my room. The morning I'd unexpectedly cut things off with him and even though he told me he wouldn't leave me alone, I hadn't heard a word from him.
