Michael's POV

I couldn't even face Freya. Why had she added to my restlessness? Of all days, why would she confess her feelings to me? She never meant the words. She only said it so she could stay a while with me.

I finally got out of my room after a few hours of drowning in heartbreak. I waited patiently, hoping Jason's call would come in and tell me everything that had happened earlier was just a prank. But then, it seemed I hadn't laid eyes on Freya since she confessed her feelings. I wondered where she had gone to. I hoped she didn't take my words seriously and had left my mansion.

The truth was, I didn't know how I'd feel when Freya leaves. "Mrs. Cooke," I called, watching her chop vegetables as I stood, staring everywhere like I was searching for something.
