Chapter 19
When I awoke the next morning, Grayson had already left for the day. I rolled over to snuggle with his pillow and inhaled his intoxicating scent as it danced around me. My mind was still reeling from the events of the past couple of days... Had my father and Grayson really spoken face to face? Last night felt like a dream, to see my family and Grayson together and maintain a somewhat civil manner was bewildering. Not only that, but they agreed to work together to protect me!
As I adjusted my eyes to the light that was slowly creeping its way into my room, I searched through my mind for Grayson. I was just about to wish him a good morning when Brynn raced into the room jumped onto the bed.
"HEY SISTER, SISTER!", she yelled as she bounced up and down before reaching for me to join her. I shrugged and said, "What the hell" as I joined her, she was in such a jovial mood, who was I to spoil it?
"Well let me see!", Brynn squealed with delight.

Three weeks had passed since my family and Grayson had agreed to work together. Once a week my dad and Grayson would meet at the territory line and report back any suspicious activity or sightings. Since the Dark Moon pack and the Crescent pack were both on the lookout, there had been no sightings of Kirk or any other rogues/unfamiliar wolves for that matter, not even a whiff of a scent.The attacks on the packs, including Slades, had ceased. Rather than assault or murder our people, the attackers have been vandalising and leaving messages spray-painted into buildings. The messages were more or less the same each time, "We're coming for you mutts", "Tick-Tock, you're about to get shot", and so on. "TIME TO GO BISH!".I turned to find Brynn standing on top of the breakfast table. She was wearing a neon green bikini and the largest pair of sunglasses I had ever seen.I burst out in laughter as she stuck a pose, her hands were on her hips and she was pulling a duckface while gyrating her lower body to a tune only she could hear. It was times like these that Brynn reminded me of Marnie. I had a feeling they would get along all too well, and I made a mental note to ask Beta Luke, Marnie's mate, to bring her along to the next border meeting."Alright, just give me 10 more minutes to finish packing our picnic and checking that I have some sunscreen", I giggled breathlessly.Brynn had grown tired of being confined to the town or the cabin she and Grayson's mother lived in further north. Grayson had kept us all under lock and key while the attacks were happening, even more so after my confrontation with Kirk and his men.

As I walked down the stairs and towards my mother's familiar kitchen, I paused in the hallway. My fingers traced along the portraits that decorated the walls, pictures of my family surrounded me and brought a smile to my face.Pictures of my brothers, both young and as they are now, smiled back at me with their mischievous grins before I stopped in front of my parent's portrait. They glowed with love for one another as they smiled and melted into one another's embrace.
