Elder Mason’s Point of View

As the throne room empties in tense, reverent silence, I remain seated. My old bones ache against the stone bench, but I don’t move. Not yet. The flickering holograms of my fellow Elders hover in a loose half-circle before me, their faces etched in shadows and uncertainty. None of us expected this.

This twist. This reckoning.

I adjust the cuffs of my robe, buying a moment to gather my thoughts. “We have more than one situation on our hands,” I say, my voice rough but steady. “The verdict for the twins, Elder Jack’s betrayal, and… Eva.”

Lyra leans forward in her flickering seat, her face drawn. “For weeks now, I’ve felt something strange in her. In Eva. As if she’s feeling things. But that’s not possible, right? Executioners don’t have feelings. We do. For them. But they’re not built for it.”

A third elder, Goran, steeples his fingers. “Tell us, Mason. How do we deal with an executioner who feels?”

I chuckle, the sound echoing too loudly in the

Rufus’s point of view Pain is… beautiful. Not in the way mortals romanticize it—not the kind that inspires sonnets or earns sympathy. No, this pain is sacred. It strips me bare. Boils away the weakness. What’s left is pure. I no longer scream. I did, in the beginning. When Isabella used fire to remind me of the love we once shared. When Nathaniel dug into my veins with his light, thinking he could burn the truth out of me. But pain and I… we’re old friends now. I listen instead. To their voices. Their fear. Their panic. The way they whisper in the shadows of this room, thinking I’m too far gone to hear them. “They found out she’s not Eva.” My broken lips curl. So they know. Good. “She tricked them all.” Of course she did. “She still has Theo. And Aries wants to mark her.” I laugh. It’s a raw, wet sound that scrapes my throat. That’s my girl. Even exposed, even unveiled, she has him wrapped around her cursed little finger. Oh, she learned well. She studied their desires,

Isabella’s point of view The room is silent except for the drip… drip… drip of blood hitting the floor. Rufus is hanging by his wrists, barely conscious, his body a patchwork of bruises, burns, and open wounds. The scent of scorched flesh clings to the walls like rot. I circle him slowly, a jagged blade in hand—one of my favorites. Thin enough to slice cleanly, sharp enough to peel skin like paper. “I once begged you for mercy,” I say softly, running the blade along his collarbone, not yet cutting. “And you laughed. Remember that?” His only response is a rasping breath, barely audible over the sound of his own suffering. I lean in, voice ice-cold. “Where is she, Rufus? Where is my daughter?” He lifts his head with effort, blood crusted at the corners of his mouth. “Still sentimental… I thought the years would harden you properly.” “They did. You just weren’t around to see it.” I stab the blade into his thigh and twist. His scream fills the chamber, echoing off the stone like

Theo’s Point of View They’re watching me. I can feel it. Sonia’s eyes track my every move like I’m a threat. Parker keeps talking to Elias in whispers. And every time I enter a room, the conversation dies like someone pulled the plug. They think I don’t notice. “You’re too quiet.” Aries’s voice slices through the fog in my brain. “I’m thinking.” “That’s the problem.” He scoffs. “You’re thinking like a fool. Wake up, Theo. They’re turning against us.” I run a hand through my hair and stare at the wall. I’ve barely slept. The only peace I’ve had is when I’m with her. Eva. The only one who hasn’t tried to gaslight me lately. The only one who believes in me. Who trusts me. “Are you seriously calling Eva your safe space?” Aries growls. “She’s not just my safe space . She’s my everything ” My jaw clenches. “You accepted her too. You’re the one who wanted to mark her.” Silence. A beat of hesitation. “…I know what I felt,” Aries mutters. “Her scent, her voice, her touch. It

Britney’s Point of View Victory tastes like honey and blood on my tongue. Sweet. Sticky. Glorious. I walk beside Theo like I own him—because I do. His hand rests on my back like I’m his everything, and he doesn’t even flinch when the castle’s gossip parade begins. Oh, I hear it. The gasps. The whispers. The delicious sound of betrayal on their tongues. “That’s not Eva.” “ Who is she?” “ Why is he not with Eva?” “She doesn’t look like her either .” “She’s the brunette with blue eyes that they said is the end of us.” Exactly. Eva never smiled like me, and i am definitely their end. I lean into Theo just a little more, brushing against him as I pretend not to hear them. But of course I hear them. I crave it. Every word they whisper feeds me like a second breakfast. Theo, bless him, kisses my temple. “Ignore them,” he says, all protective and broody. “They don’t understand.” No, they don’t. But I’ll make them. “I’m used to it,” I murmur, putting on my most innocent voice as

Eva’s point of view Elias’s room is a mess of books, maps, and desperate ideas. Sonia paces like a tiger in a cage, Parker sharpens a dagger he doesn’t need, and Elias mutters to himself in three different languages, trying to make sense of the Goddess’s words. “Everything ends where it all started,” he says again, tapping the same line in an ancient text. “But what does that mean? The Academy? The prophecy? Her birth?” I don’t answer. I can’t. Because something inside me shifts. My spine straightens like I’ve been struck. My throat closes. There’s a flash—heat, pressure, skin on skin. Then—pain. Not pain like a blade or a bruise. This is internal. Elemental. A violation of the soul. “Eva?” Parker looks up. I drop to my knees before I realize it. My body folds like a puppet with its strings cut. My stomach twists violently, and my fingers dig into the floorboards like I’m trying to claw my way out of my own skin. “Eva!” Sonia’s beside me in seconds. “What’s happening?!”

Theo’s point of view I don’t understand what the hell is wrong with everyone. Sonia keeps looking at me like I’ve betrayed her. Parker barely speaks. Even Elias avoids my gaze like I’m contagious. They keep insisting—whispering, arguing, pleading—that the woman beside me is not Eva. But when I look at her, I see everything I’ve ever loved. The sharpness in her eyes. The power beneath her calm. That beautiful, deadly calm that’s always drawn me in like a flame. I see her scars. I see her pain. I see my mate. “She’s not Eva, Theo,” Sonia said this morning, her voice trembling like glass about to shatter. “You’re under a spell.” I laughed. “Don’t be ridiculous.” “She tricked you. She’s not her.” “She is.” I growled. But even as I said it, something inside me shifted. Just for a second. A flicker. A pause. And then… she touched my hand. The moment her fingers wrapped around mine, the doubts vanished like smoke. Her scent wrapped around me—warm, dark honey and stormy nights.
