Chapter 93 – The Queen’s Gambit

Eva’s POV

The moment the palace doors open, time freezes.

She steps forward slowly, each footfall deliberate, regal, and utterly damning.

Selene.

Dressed in white. Her blonde hair woven into the same braid she wore in the old portraits that hung, dust-covered and forgotten, in the council chambers. Her green eyes glow beneath the afternoon sun like polished emeralds. She walks as if pulled by fate itself—unshaken, unafraid.

Even the guards flanking her falter, like they’re escorting a ghost they never expected to meet.

Gasps ripple through the courtyard.

I don’t look at the twins. I don’t glance at Theo, or Sonia, or Parker—frozen near the fountain like statues waiting for the verdict of gods. My eyes stay fixed on one man.

Jack.

He has stopped breathing.

His spine is rigid, mouth slightly open. The color drains from his face, and in that moment, I see it—not just disbelief, but fear. Real fear.

Good.

I let the silence grow heavy. Let it settle over the crowd like fog thic

Eva’s point of view We finish breakfast in a silence that weighs more than steel. I set down my fork, push back my chair, and stand. “Let’s go, guys.” Sonia and Elias rise instantly, loyal shadows flanking me as we head toward the exit. But as we pass the table where the rest of our so-called “gang” sits, Fake Eva—her royal knockoffness—dares to smile at Sonia. Wrong move. I see Sonia’s wolf snap up like a storm on fast-forward. Her entire energy shifts, and she hisses under her breath like a viper uncoiling. I catch her arm just in time. “Not now,” I murmur. “This isn’t the moment or the battlefield.” But it’s close. Oh, it’s coming. Michael stands suddenly, eyes pleading. “Sonia, please—” “Sit your ass down.” Her words are ice. No rage. No softness. Just cold betrayal packed into four syllables. She storms out before he can say another word. And damn it, watching them fall apart over this makes my stomach turn. This imposter is splitting us like firewood, and we’

Eva’s point of view As I step out of the elevator, my face is dry, but the ache behind my eyes betrays what happened upstairs. I blink it away and stride into the dining room like I belong here—because I do, dammit. Still, my gaze sweeps the room automatically, searching. One table: Elias and Sonia, heads close, whispering like it’s a secret war room. Another: Theo, Parker, Michael, Marcus… and Trixie. That’s already bad news. Trixie and Parker are sitting miles apart like their chairs are allergic to each other, and Michael is glaring daggers at Sonia like she stole his favorite sword and stabbed his pride with it. Perfect. Just perfect. The little impostor already won her first battle—she split us up. I walk toward the sibling table without sparing Theo a glance and drop into the seat beside Sonia like I haven’t just shattered into pieces an hour ago. “All good?” I ask, brushing her hand lightly with my fingers. Her eyes scan me like a scanner set to ‘emotional damage.’ “I c

  • The executioner and the Alpha King   Chapter 225 – War Paint

Eva’s point of view I open my eyes slowly, blinking against the cruel sunlight bleeding through the curtains. My body aches. Deep. Heavy. Like I’ve been dragged through a battlefield barefoot. Oh wait—emotionally, I have. Last night comes flooding back with the force of a tidal wave. The pain. The betrayal. The ghost of someone else’s hands on the man who’s supposed to be mine. The memory leaves a metallic taste in my mouth. I drag myself out of bed and into the shower, fists clenched, jaw locked. The water is hot. Scalding. But it’s not enough. I scrub my skin like it’s covered in filth. Like I can erase the shame, the helplessness, the feeling of knowing she almost succeeded. That her lies are working. That he’s slipping further and further away from me. So much for his sweet words. So much for I’ll always choose you. He isn’t fighting for me anymore. He’s falling for her. Slowly. Blindly. And I hate him for it. I hate me for caring. I step out of the shower, dripping an

Trixie’s point of view I slam the bathroom door harder than I need to and lean against it, trying not to scream. My hands are shaking. My heart is pounding. And all I can think is: He chose her. He chose her over me. I kick off my shoes and peel off my clothes with jerky, angry movements. The water hisses as I twist the shower knob to the hottest setting, steam billowing around me. I step in before it’s even ready, letting the sting of the heat slap my skin. Good. Let it burn. Let it scrub away this jealousy. This pain. This shame. I hate how I feel. I hate that I’m this girl—jealous, insecure, second-guessing every word, every look. I’ve never been like this before. Not until Parker. Not until he showed up with that crooked smile and promises I wanted to believe. I run my hands over my arms, scrubbing harder, like I can wash him off me. Like I can peel away every thought of Eva. Every whisper. Every look they’ve shared. Why does he protect her like that? Why won’t he tell m

Parker’s point of view I pace the room like a caged animal, the soles of my boots dragging across the floor with every step. Where the hell is she? Trixie always knows how to get under my skin—maybe that’s what I love about her. The jealousy, the fire, the impossible stubbornness. But today… today she’s pushing every damn button I have. And now she’s doubting me? The door creaks open behind me. I spin around, only to find her standing there, arms crossed, eyes narrowed. “Why are you so agitated?” she asks coolly as she lowers herself onto the bed like a queen settling onto a throne. I arch an eyebrow. “Where the hell have you been?” She straightens instantly, all sass and sharp angles. “None of your business, mister.” Wow. The nerve. In two steps, I’m standing in front of her. “What are you up to, Trixie?” She doesn’t answer. Just gets up and casually moves toward the bathroom like I didn’t say anything. I reach out and gently catch her wrist, turning her to face me. “Wow.

  • The executioner and the Alpha King   Chapter 222 – The Cost of Loyalty

Sonia’s point of view I clench my jaw as the door slams shut behind me with a thunderous bang. Good. Let it echo in his ears. How dare he question me? I pace the room, fists balled, my steps sharp against the wooden floor. My blood’s still boiling from our fight. Michael always thinks he knows better, like his intuition trumps reality, like his heart can’t be tricked. He thinks he’s so smart. But he has no idea what I’ve been through. What I’ve seen. What I’ve had ripped out of me, layer by layer, just to earn the right to say, “I know.” He has no clue. And yet he stands there accusing me—me—of being blind. I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to push the image of his stunned face from my mind. But it lingers. He says I don’t trust him. No. That’s not it. I don’t trust his judgment. I know which Eva is real. I know it with a clarity that goes deeper than sight or logic. I felt it. I was purified. I walked through fire and shadows and came back raw and screaming—but clean. I can
