Cloe stood all the time at Layla's gate waiting for Tulio's return.

“My dear, imagine how my life has been since that boy was twelve years old!” Layla approached her at the gate, she put her hand on the young woman's shoulder, sympathetic, she understood Cloe's concern, for the girl loved her grandson as much as she did. “My grandson is like my son, and children, it's like having your heart beating outside your chest constantly, even more so with the life he has.”

Cloe nodded in agreement, she imagined how easy it must not be for his grandmotherly lady.

When she saw his motorcycle going up to her house and he not having warned her that he was coming, she kissed Layla on the cheek and walked up the street to her house. She was almost home when a black van sped past her, the dark windows not allowing her to see who was inside.
