The Rescue

"Your highness! I was just going to invite you!", King John stumbled.

"Really? You were going to invite me at the end of the ball?", he said.

"No! No your highness! It's not like that", he lied.

"Very well, is it true that you threw this ball to talk to the other kingdoms and join, against me?", he asked coldly and took a sip of his tea.

"No! They wanted me to! But I refused saying that we, two kingdoms are living with peace", he lied again.

But this time, he took a piercing look at him.

"Your highness, are trying to turn me into stone?", he took his steps back.

"No, but you know, when you look into people's eyes, you find out if they're lying or not", he put the tea cup down.

John couldn't breathe anymore.

"But there's a way I can forgive you for this, I want a bride", he said.

"A bride?....Oh, yes! why not? I'll get you a beautiful bride!", John let out a sigh.

"Not just any bride, I want your daughter as a bride", he told him.

"My daughter!? But why?", he shouted.

He raised his eyebrow.

"Is there a problem?", he asked.

"No, but...why the sudden demand for a bride?", John asked.

"That is not necessary to answer, but I assure that I'll treat her right, you can trust me", he assured.

As if John would ever trust him but turning him down, would mean war.

"What are you thinking?",

"Nothing, I'll prepare everything. You don't need to bother for anything, I'll send my daughter to you", he averted his gaze.

"Are you sure you don't want to get married in your kingdom?"

"Yes, I'm sure. If I tell her, she'll refuse so; I'll send her to you. After her marriage, she can come here to visit us", John smirked.

"Then if it's going to be that simple, then you can send to me, tomorrow", he ordered and stood up.

"Isn't that a get too soon?", he hesitated.

"Not at all, the more early, the more the better", he answered and left.

After he left, John told his family about the meeting.

"How could you agree to marry our daughter to that Lore king?!", Diana yelled.

"Don't worry dear, I'm not going to do that. We'll be dead by tomorrow", he cackled.

"How?"

"I sent an army of my archers to kill him! Hs came alone, he won't ever come back", he said.

"Oh! Thank goodness!", Diana thanked.

But little did she know, the Lore king was no ordinary, he had a great power within him and a dark secret. He wasn't entirely a lore, he still had humanity in him. But this humanity was fading away, day by day and to conserve it, he wanted another human beside him.

An arrow was shot on his carriage. He came out see, and saw some archers. The carriage driver stood in front of him. Another arrow was shot at him, but it passed through the carriage driver's chest, but still no damage to him.

"These humans are always like this, I'll need more servants", he sighed.

He put his hand up and put a small cut on it. His blood came and more servants to protect him, he had the power of blood manipulation. More arrows were shot, but the servants covered him. He took a look at the archers and they were slowly turned to stone. But an archer had hidden himself from behind, he shot the arrow at him and it him in the chest. He pulled the arrow outside and also turned him to stone by looking at him. But he felt aching in his heart and realized that it was a poisonous one. He tried walking away but failed and fainted.

Esmeray was watching this from her window, she didn't know what to do but she couldn't let him die.

She went out of the house, carefully not let her parents. She was lucky that everyone was in his home so, she grabbed him and took him inside.

It was already midnight so, everyone was asleep. She took him to her room and nursed him. She took his shirt off and saw his muscles, he was such a man of early twenties but the takes about him were from a long time. She cleaned the wound and did some first aid, she then sew his wound. He slowly opened his eyes and saw her.

"What're you doing? Where am I?", he slowly woke up.

"Don't get up, you're hurt", she advised and put him again in bed.

"Why did you save me?", he was looking in her eyes now.

"You have pretty eyes", she smiled.

"I asked you something!", he demanded.

"Don't raise your voice, or else my parents will find out. And the reason why I saved you is, I didn't want you to die, you're a living being. A human or not, doesn't matter, all that matters is that you're a living being. If you die, your kingdom will crumble under the humans, and the same could happen if our king died. And to save peace and the people of both worlds, humans and lores; Kestramore and Maleficium, I saved you", she answered and smiled.

"You're very strange", he said.

"I know, everybody says that. And that's why people don't like me, I'm too straight forward and always what's in my mouth. But I think, there's nothing wrong in being yourself right?", she smirked.

"You're too naive...but kind. Being kind is good but, not when your kindness is used against you. It happened to me so, be careful", he said and stood up.

"Where're you going? You can't go in that condition!", she tried to stop him.

"If somebody finds me here, you're done for", he then put his hand close to her on the wall, and wall slam her.

"Umm... what are you doing?", she asked confusedly.

"Thanking you, what's your name?", he asked.

"Esmeray", she said.

"Hmmm", he closed his eyes and then kissed her.

Esmeray was shocked, she then started feeling dizzy and got unconscious.

The Lore king caught her, before she could fall. He tucked her in bed, put on his shirt and escaped from the window.

Esmeray, remembered nothing after the kiss.
