Knight’s POV

I was mad—so mad that for the entirety of that ride to Aria’s place, I didn’t look at her or even say a single word.

I wasn’t mad at her. I don’t even think I could ever be. Instead, I was mad at myself—that I let it get to this. I could have dragged us out of there the moment I saw how the waiter was looking at her, but because I let things slide, he had the audacity to utter such trash about her.

Buying that place and ending his career was me showing some sort of mercy—only

Knights POV My eyes remained on Aria’s sleeping form for most of the night. For someone who talked big about not being nervous, she fell asleep pretty fast the moment she was in my arms. I was greatly tempted to chuckle when her breathing steadied, but I couldn’t risk waking her up, so I held it in. If I was being truthful, I was still surprised she came back to me on her own, but I decided not to question it. Like she said, we had no idea what going forward would mean for us, so we might as well remain in the present. Her face looked so peaceful while she slept, unlike the expression she wore daily, and it was really nice to see her like that. I went to sleep not long after, and the next moment my eyes snapped open, sunlight already seeping through the curtains. My gaze immediately went to her, and my eyes widened when I saw the spot empty. I was on my feet in seconds as I walked over to the bathroom. I knocked softly, but after getting no answer, I pushed the door open. A sigh

"Umm, say something... you’re freaking me out," I asked, watching Knight. After my little "bad bitch" statement, he just stared at me, an unreadable look on his face. "He’s probably stunned," came a voice. I turned to see a grinning Angelo. "I thought I dismissed everyone," Knight said, finally turning to us. Angelo shrugged. "So, you can talk now?" he asked, chuckling. Knight glared at him. "You dismissed the staff, not me. I’m not one of them," Angelo said, wiggling his brows and i let out a soft chuckle. Knight turned back to me, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Judging from the way you're acting, I guess you sent her the address to get here," he said to Angelo. Angelo shook his head immediately. "I don’t even have her contact, man. There's no way I did that." I cleared my throat. "I came here on my own," I cut in. Knight’s expression softened into a smile. "You did?" I nodded. "I remembered the way from the last time I came here." He chuckled, walking over to me. "You shou

The moment I slammed my door shut behind me, I finally let out the sigh I had been holding in throughout that car ride. I thought, assumed—that Knight would say something, anything, to make the situation better, but the silence we sat through was more deadly than any movie villain there was. Even if I avoided his eyes the whole time, my mind was still working overtime, trying to process exactly what I was feeling after all… that. “I’m home,” I called as I strolled into the sitting room where Excelle had her eyes glued to the TV screen. “I heard the door slam shut like five minutes ago, Aria, so I knew you were home,” she said, finally dragging her eyes from the TV to me. “My question is why it took you that long to walk in here,” she added, wiggling her brows. I sighed as I dropped onto the couch opposite her. “It was a long day,” I muttered, looking away. “Okay, girl, what did your Knight do now?” she said, grabbing the remote and switching off the TV before turning to me.

I could have dragged us out of there the moment I saw how the waiter was looking at her, but because I let things slide, he had the audacity to utter such trash about her. Buying that place and ending his career was me showing some sort of mercy—only because Aria was with me. I didn’t want to scare her away by doing too much too soon, but judging from the last look she gave me when she yelled at me to stop earlier, I think I still managed to scare her anyway. She hadn’t even glanced my way once, keeping her gaze on the window the entire time. I was curious about what could be going through her mind, but not curious enough to start a conversation while I was still this mad. Who knew what I would say? “We’re here,” Rowan called after a whi

I didn’t know how I made it to my feet that fast, but the moment I saw Knight grab that waiter by the collar, I was already moving to stop him. I had noticed the looks the waiter was giving me, but I ignored them all because we would only be here for a few hours anyway. I never imagined he would openly touch me like that—twice. I was going to confront him about it even if Knight didn’t. I wasn’t some weak damsel in distress. At the very least, I could speak up when someone made me uncomfortable. I stood behind them, watching just exactly what Knight was going to do before interfering. The whole guests had their eyes on us now, but I didn’t really care. I just watched, at least for now. “You seem to have no idea where your boundaries lie,” Knight said to the waiter, his eyes dark. “How dare you touch her—twice.” His grip on the man’s collar visibly tightened. “I didn’t touch her!” the man yelled loudly, glaring as he looked around as if asking for help. Was he trying to get the

Knight POVI walked down to my car, the flower bouquet still in hand. I should have called Rowan back up, but for some reason I was okay carrying it back down myself. Maybe it was because of how Aria looked when admiring the flowers, but overall, I was glad she liked it.When I sent her the text about seeing today, I didn’t have anything special in mind. But thanks to Angelo and his unwanted advice, we got flowers and a dinner planned. At least he was useful for something more than his legal work now.I knew Aria would have a lot of questions about me, and even if I couldn’t guarantee I would answer them all, I was willing to give it a try. A bit of cover-up and only basic information should be fine for now.I was almost at the car when I saw Rowan step out, jogging toward me. He collected the flowers from me immediately.“You should have called me, boss,” he muttered.I shook my head. “I would have if I needed you, but I guess I didn’t,” I said with a shrug as I walked to the car. “T
