PRINCE DAVID POV
-------------------------------------------------------------------- I stood among the palace official in the royal court with my eyes staring in the direction of the throne. Princess Melissa sat at her seat beside her father looking as beautiful as ever.Ever since the moment I met her, I couldn't get her out of my head, she was so beautiful that I made sure she was promised to me in marriage, me and no one else.
I frown in anger when my eyes took notice of general George beside the king's throne. He stood proudly in his uniform with his chest puffed out and his hands on the handle of his sowrd that was stuck to his belt. He was all business with his stone expression and threatening stance. I hated him for looking so powerful. There was no doubt that princess Melissa had took notice of his manliness and worthiness on several occasions. It always scared me to leave her all alone when returning to Rault. What if General George uses that as an opportunity to steal my beloved princess away from me. The thought scared me to the bones and I made sure that my time in Rault was always very short so I can return to my princess. The Queen's seat on the King's right hand was empty and I figured she must be on another luxurious visit to another part of the world. A full forty minutes later, we were still standing in silence. The king wasn't saying a word and even the officials remain silent, some of them were actually shaking in fear. It made me even more curious as to what must be going on. Back at the arena, General George looked shaken up by whatever the King's messeger must have whispered in his ears and it threw me off a bit because I have never seen the General looking so worried and panicked. What could be going on? Fed up with the silence, I opened my mouth to speak my mind to the king when the doors of the royal court squeaked loudly as they were pulled open. All eyes including mine turn towards the doors. A long black haired man in a black cloak and breeches. He was wearing nothing under his cloak leaving his body bare and the long scar that trail from his left chest to his navel. He walked forward towards the king's throne with his head held high and his grey eyes cold and emotionless. His face was deprived of any emotion and I did not miss the way the officials took down loud gulps and also the nervous expression on the king's face. Even the General seem a bit uncomfortable with the presence of this new comer. Who is he? "Greetings King Collins" The mysterious man bowed before the king although it seem more like a mere nod of acknowledgement to me. "I am King Patrick of Evergreen" My eyes widen in shock and murmurs of fear and surprise filled the court. King Patrick of Evergreen? What in the world brought this monstrous king to the Windfall kingdom. From what I know, king Patrick has never been one to pay visit to other kingdoms except to pronounce war and even then his ambassadors were present on his behalf not himself in person. His lack of sociality among other nation were the reason no one knew what the young king really looked like but rumors had it that he was a terrifying figure to behold and I couldn't agree more. He had won many wars, captured many cities and enslave many citizens. Kingdoms fear his existence, King's stand terrified when unfortunate to fall in his wrath. Everyone who knew the young king knew he would only bring trouble where ever he sets his foot. King Collins smiled at the introduction but the nerves in his expression were still very visible. "It is an honour to have you here King Patrick, but a warning on your arrival would have been a big help to welcome you properly" "There will be no need for that," his calm cold voice thundered in the silence sending chills down my spine and judging from the others reaction around me, I could tell that they also felt the same "for I have not come here to cause any trouble for you your majesty nor have I come to be entertained" his cold eyes looked in Melissa's direction and my heart beat picked up as I suddenly got an idea of what this king was here for, but I remain silent to let him go on "I was looking through my late father's documents when I came across an agreement he made with you in the past" a tall man dressed in a long expensive looking robe handed a scroll to King Patrick "the agreement state that when your first daughter is of age, she will be given to me in marriage" "Impossible!!!" My lips moved before I could stop them forcing the attention on me "you cannot just walk in here and speak nonsense. Princess Melissa was promised to me for years now and I am her bethrot" King Patrick barely glance at me before turning his attention back to the king. "An agreement was made to prevent war at that time king Collins and I must warn you that if my bride isn't given to me, I shall pronounce war on your kingdom and not only the east Kingdom of Windfall but I shall destroy every part of it" Gasp of fear filled the court and my clenched fist shook beside me. "War or not princess Melissa belongs to me" I moved closer to the throne so I could face the king properly "my father will not let it go either if my bethrot is given to another. Our kingdoms might have been friends for decades but that won't stop us from becoming enemies if she is given to another" The king's face was filled with panic and dilemma and I felt a bit sorry for putting him in this situation but I couldn't help it nor could I let it go so easily. I can't just seat back and watch another moron try to take my bethrot from me. One annoying cocky general is enough. My eyes found the beautiful face of my lovely princess and I was shocked to see that she looks amused and I did not like how she was looking at King Patrick like he was a piece of cooked beef. It made my blood boil in anger. General George looked like he wanted to tear both our heads off but he remain still by the king's side. "There should be no cause for arguments Prince David. I shall make sure that this matter is resolved but not right now" he glanced at his general beside him "ask the servants to clear up my study. Prince David, King Patrick, Melissa and you as well general should be present there in the next twenty minutes, there is something important that we must discuss" "Yes your majesty" the General bowed. "As for now, this court is dismissed" The king stood up along with Melissa and we all bowed in respect except king Patrick of course until the king disappeared through the back door. King Patrick was the first to leave and everyone else was too scared to move along and instead allowed him to make an exit first. I glared after him in utter rage and hate. Who the hell does he think he is to demand my bride as his I will rather die fighting than allow the princess to be given to anyone but me.The iron headed arrow made a swooshing sound against the wind until it hit the dark circle in the middle of the round board with a thump.Patrick lets out a misty breath, and then stretched his hand out for a servant to drop another arrow in his palm.“My lord” greeted Donald as he bowed to the king stiffly and handed a short note to John who stood behind the king at the foyer “Report from the northern borders”“What does it say?” Patrick asked as he lets go of another arrow which lands in the middle again. There was a short pause in as John reads through“There has been an attack on some villages close to the Northern borders my lord”An arrow lands again on the board with a thumpPatrick turned to meet John’s eyes and then Donald’s“Someone dares attack my kingdom?”“That is what is strange indeed my lord” Donald answered with his head held up high “it has been a very recent dealing and we cannot continue paying less attention thinking it is banditry. It is more than that”Patrick n
Larissa looked at the slender smiling face of the brown eyed tall girl who stood at the other end of the table and then back at the letter in her handShe drops it on the table with a sigh“I guess father still does not trust me to protect myself” she cocks her head looking the other over “what’s your name then?”“My name is Nambi”“You’re a soldier”“You can tell?” the girl whose smile didn’t leave her face asked astonished“The letter said so, plus your aura is quite stronger than that of an average girl”“Actually my lady” Nambi began as she boldly looked back into the queen’s eyes “I watched your fight with the king that day and up until now, I’m still amazed at how well you fought, it was awesome”A light pink hue dusted over Larissa’s face at that.Hardly does anyone other than her father compliment her for anything, hence it had taken a lot of effort not to show that it was a pleasant surprise to say that to her, to hear someone praise her.She cleared her throat and faced the
“You asked if I attended the royal school earlier” he reminded as they reached the waterfall garden where water fell from a high mountain down to a stream where it flowed down to where the eyes couldn’t see past. Larissa tears her amazed eyes away from the beautiful scenery to look at the king “I did not attend it, because just like you, I was raised outside the palace”Larissa was shocked at that, and had a lot of questions to ask, but she keeps silent so the king would continue, enchanted by how his hair flowed with the wind.“My mother was a queen who was deposed of because she wasn’t able to conceive, a month after being thrown out, she was discovered to be pregnant. Everyone had their opinion of it, they said it wasn’t the king’s, oh she must have slept around because she was desperate. They wanted her dead, or exiled, sent away to a place where she would suffer and eventually die”Patrick began to walk again and Larissa followed“The king played mer
Larissa looked up at the lights that were hung up on the ceiling illuminating the whole bedroom. She tightened her hold on the duvet that she held tightly against her chest in an attempt to cover the nakedness that had been visible just moments ago, her arms and shoulders still exposed. Her face was tear streaked, her eyes hooded with a blissed-out look on her face as she breathed with her mouth slightly agape to regularize her breath.“You’re such a beast” she said in a hoarse voice, making the body next to her groan as he turned from lying on his front to laying on his back instead, copying her and he threw an arm over his face, the lights were too blinding“For a virgin, you sure did take it well”She turned to look at him, a playful smile on her face it looked childish“So I did good?” she asked making Patrick peer at her from under his arm and then he scoffed, a ghost of a smile on his lips and then he raised his hand to her head and petted the disheveled hair“Yeah you did”Lari
Larissa wore a shining white gown adorned with beautiful pearls and ornaments that shone in the ray of sunlight that filtered in through the windows of the large hall the wedding was taking place in.Her brown hair was pulled back in a long braid with beautiful artificial flower crown placed over it to frame her small almond face. And her green eyes adding to her beautyShe looked like an angel who had descended to walk the road of men.Except in her case, rumors of her being a witch had already spread in the Evergreen palace and everyone who was in attendance of the wedding stood at a far distance away from her path, almost pressing themselves to the wall in fright.Larissa didn’t care, she probably didn’t even notice as she could only see Patrick who stood in all his majestically glorious outfit at the front of the hall, an officiating priest in front of him with his book of laws in hand. The princess had an awestruck look on her face, one she had on ever since the king kissed her t
Patrick’s chest rose and fell steadily as he looked down on Larissa who was on her knees, her head down, her hair all over her face with the tip of his sword over her neck. She looked disheaveled, but Patrick did not look any better. There were light bruises over his face and body“So what’s it going to be princess, do we keep on fighting or do you yield?”“Hah!” Larissa laughed and then looked up at him “this is the gentlest your voice has been since we met, why, do I seem more feminine now that I’ve been defeated?”“Shut up!”“Why, I think I like you even more now” she asserted as she shakily stood up “I yield”At that, Patrick turned around and began to walk away. Larissa breath out a disappointed sigh“Is that it, you’re just going to walk away?”“What are you doing right now? make haste, we leave at dawn tomorrow” He walked away, leaving a very pleased and smiling Larissa who looked up at the sky and lets out a small laugh“See that head priestess, I get to live in the world like a
