The evening was overcast, and the thick clouds in the sky loomed like a weight on my shoulders. I had

just returned home, my heart heavy with the knowledge of what I had done, the consequences of my

actions beginning to sink in. The air was heavy with the promise of rain, and I could feel the tension in

the atmosphere as I approached my doorstep, my footsteps slow and deliberate.

As I turned the key in the lock and pushed open the door to my small, dimly lit apartment, I felt a sense

of foreboding wash over me. My gaze fell upon the figure standing on my doorstep, a tall silhouette

outlined against the fading evening light. It was Kevin, a close friend who had been a pillar of support

during my darkest moments. But today, there was something different in his demeanor, something that

sent a chill down my spine.

"Kevin, what are you doing here?" I asked, my voice trembling as I took a step back, instinctively
