Chapter 17

Liam’s pov:

I was in my room, feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I had butterflies in my stomach, and I kept thinking about what I would say to Ava at the neon party. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves. I told myself that it would be okay, no matter what happened. But I couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation.

I walked down the stairs and saw Sophia sitting on the couch, looking at her phone. "Hey, Liam," she said as she looked up and smiled. "You ready for the neon party?" I nodded, trying to hide my nerves. "Yeah, I'm as ready as I'll ever be," I said.

My parents came into the living room to say goodbye. "Have fun, and be safe," my mom said as she gave me a hug. "Thanks, Mom," I said, trying to sound casual. My dad shook my hand and gave me a pat on the shoulder. "Be responsible, and don't stay out too late," he said. "We'll be home by 10:00," I promised. With that, we headed out the door and got into my car.
