LOGIN“Look who we have here,” I said.
I was almost amused by the shock in her eyes. She knew she was doomed. She knew the job offer was gone. “Ehm... I'm here to see Mr. Kelvin. He owns this organization.” “Why are you stuttering, eh?” I snapped my fingers. “Selena.” “Yeah, Selena. Why are you stuttering? Weren't you the Almighty girl? What happened to all your ranting now?” She lowered her gaze. “Where is Mr. Kelvin?” “Well, if you must know, Kelvin is my best friend. Whatever is mine is his, and vice versa.” I laughed. “So I'm kind of your boss.” She hesitated. “Okay, then. Can I have my seat?” “Sure. Sit, sit. I don't want your pretty little legs to get hurt.” She sat down quietly. I picked up her documents and began going through them. And honestly, I was impressed. She had graduated with a first-class degree in Business Administration. Her file was filled with excellent qualifications, recommendations, and lots of credentials. On paper, she was exactly the kind of person Kelvin needed. Unfortunately for her, I wasn't interested in what was written on paper. I was interested in making her uncomfortable. Throughout the interview, I tried my possible best to irritate and annoy her. I asked difficult questions. I interrupted her. I deliberately challenged some of her answers. But she pushed it off every time and kept going. She didn't lose her composure. That irritated me even more. Eventually, she closed her file. “I'm done.” “Okay, then. Write down your name.” I leaned back in my chair. “I honestly didn't really go through all of you guys' names. I don't have the strength.” “Lazy,” she muttered as she wrote down her name. My head snapped up. “What did you say?” My voice became firm. “Nothing, sir. I'm sorry.” She quickly finished writing. I glanced down at the paper. Selena Whitamore. My eyes froze on the name. Whitamore. The name rang a bell in my head. No. Not just a bell. A warning. Whitamore. I hated that name. The name that took my parents. The name that made me an orphan. The name that made me suffer for years while I fought to build my empire. My hand slowly formed into a fist. I could hear my grandmother's voice echoing in my head. Be strong. Be powerful. Be heartless. Never forgive. I looked at Selena. “Any relation to David Whitamore?” She looked confused by the sudden change in my expression. “Yes. He's my father. How do you know him?” My blood ran cold. My fingers tightened into a fist. It was him. His daughter. The daughter of the man who had destroyed my family. The anger I'd spent years carrying came rushing back all at once. “Get out.” She blinked. “What?” “Security!” My voice echoed through the office. “Security!” She stood up, completely confused. “Hey, what's happening?” “You came back to destroy me, huh, Whitamore?” Her eyes widened. “What are you talking about?” “Killing my parents wasn't enough?” “Sir, what's happening? I'm confused.” “Where are the God-damned security?” I slammed my hand against the desk. “Security!” This time, I screamed even louder. “No wonder your presence irritates me. Daughter of a murderer.” Her face fell. “Sir, please...” She stepped toward me. “I need the job for my dad's treatment. He has cancer.” I stared at her. I heard the words. But the anger inside me drowned everything else out. “Security!” The doors finally opened. Two security guards rushed inside. “I'm so going to fire all of you God-damned security!” I stood up. “Get her out of my office.” “Sir, please!” She looked at me desperately. “I don't understand what I did.” I grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the door. She struggled to keep up with me. “Please, sir! I need this job!” “Get out!” I pushed her toward the security guards. They immediately took over. She stumbled onto the floor, tears filling her eyes as she looked up at me. “Please... just tell me what I did.” I stared down at her. God knew, if she had been a man, my anger would have taken over completely. But I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me lose control any further. “Take her away.” The guards pulled her to her feet and escorted her out. She kept begging for the job until the doors finally closed behind her. I stood there, breathing heavily. Whitamore. That name had followed me for years. And now his daughter had walked straight into my office. I couldn't handle my anger anymore. I grabbed my things and left. I went home. I needed to be alone. Because for the first time in years, the hatred I'd buried inside me had come roaring back.I went over to pick up the police because I didn't want the siren to be heard as we approached. Emily came with me. She had insisted on coming along, and after everything she had been through, I didn't have the heart to tell her no. I felt terrible about missing half of my best friend's wedding. My heart ached knowing how much this day meant to Kelvin. He had been talking about it for months, and I knew he would be furious with me. But this was bigger than the wedding. I had to get to the bottom of everything. My parents' murder had to be avenged. Emily sat quietly beside me as we drove toward the mansion. She hadn't said much since we left. I glanced at her. “Are you okay?” She stared out the window for a moment before turning to me. “No,” she admitted. “But I think I've spent too long pretending I am.” I sighed. “I know this isn't easy for you.” “It isn't about being easy, Alex.” Her voice trembled. “It's Stella. I trusted her too. I never imagined she could do all of t

I went straight to my room and called Kelvin. “Hey, Kelvin. I think you'll need to drop off Damien. The cops are unto you. Don't keep him. Jessica will fish you out.” “Just go over to the front of her house, drop him off, ring the doorbell, and drive away fast. Don't let her see you or the car, and I'm sure she won't get anything out of Damien. He's just three.” “Okay. If that's what you think is best, I'll do that immediately.” The call ended. Now I'm back to phase one. I don't know what to do anymore. Maybe I should just forget about the whole thing. What do I care, actually? The Whitamore death is none of my business. Why do I bother? THREE MONTHS LATER “You may now kiss the bride.” Kelvin lifted Mimi's veil, pulled her by the waist, and kissed her passionately. The crowd roared with laughter and cheers. Finally, they were married. If anyone deserved an award, it was me. I stood beside Kelvin at his lowest. When they had heated arguments, whenever they fought, I wa
I headed over to Kelvin's house and updated him on everything. “I think we have to head over to her house. Let's check if she's there. I don't want her wandering around in this condition. She might hurt herself,” Kelvin said. “Let me pick up my keys, then we head out.” Kelvin picked up his keys, and we headed out. When we got to Selena's house, we noticed the surroundings were dirty, as though they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. “Well, I expected that. Her father couldn't possibly be doing house chores in his condition.” We entered the house. It was completely quiet. “I guess Selena didn't come here,” Kelvin said. “Do you know any of her friends?” “No, I don't. We never really had a full conversation.” “Fuck, what do we do?” Kelvin asked. “Why don't we check around and see what we can find?” As we checked around, I found Selena's mom's autopsy report. “Hey, Kelvin. Check this.” Kelvin took the report and looked at it. “The autopsy report. What killed her will be in there.
Selena noticed how everything had changed my mood. “What's wrong?” “Nothing.” I brushed it off. “C'mon, get lost, you peasant,” she hissed and went downstairs to eat. But the thought still lingered in my mind. The next day, I went over to Kelvin's house to tell him everything. “Wow, wow. Wait.” Kelvin looked at me. “Did she say she let it go and was happy for them?” I nodded. “You know Stella doesn't let things go,” Kelvin said, shaking his head. “She ran over a child's feet just because he scratched her car. If she could do that to a seven-year-old, I'm sure she wouldn't just let what Cassandra did slide.” “My point exactly.” “And Selena doesn't know much.” “No. Don't ask her. You know the reason you married her still has to remain a secret.” “Of course not. I didn't tell her anything.” “So what do we do?” I asked Kelvin. He thought for a moment. “I think the only thing that can be done is to ask Whitamore himself. He's the man they both loved. He should know
“Please, Alex. Help me. He's the only one I have. We've been through so much together.” She continued crying. I watched her. For the first time, something inside me weakened. I hated seeing her like this. I hated that a part of me actually wanted to help. My stepmother noticed. She saw the hesitation in my eyes. “Luke!” Her voice rang through the dining room. “Yes, ma'am?” Luke came running in. “Carry this thing upstairs and lock her in her room.” “Yes, ma'am.” Luke stepped forward. Selena immediately resisted. “No! Please!” He was too strong for her. “Alex, please!” She struggled as Luke led her away. “Alex, please !” Her voice echoed through the house. “Alex!” I stood there, frozen. I couldn't lie to myself. My heart softened. But I couldn't lose focus. I couldn't let myself forget why I had married her in the first place. Revenge. That was all that mattered. I finished my food quickly and headed straight to the office for
