chapter one hundred and sixty eight

POV OLIVIA

"Don't be mad at me," I said.

"I'm not mad," I assured.

"Then why are you avoiding me?"

"It's not anger... it's fear."

"You're not afraid of Mike and Dylan, are you?" I ignore him and turn to open the door. "Oh... and not of Cameron either!"

"You're an idiot."

"And you like it."

"I don't know what you've been using today, but I bet it was pretty strong, wasn't it?"

He grabs me again, a slight shiver runs down my spine. It's very strange to be so close to David; we've always been very close, but lately, the spoiled teenage crisis has hit him.

"He doesn't care about spending money, about not getting good grades, about absolutely anything. He just wants to have fun."

"And obviously, we drifted apart. I even thought about some kind of relationship with Charles, but, well, it wasn't a thought that paid off."

"Oh, cousin," he says near my ear, great, more shivers. "Can't we make this conversation a lot hotter, don't you think?"
