VIVIENNE POV

The twins shook beside me. Their hands gripped my arms hard enough to bruise, but I did not move. In front of us stood the boss of this club, a big wolf with scars across his face and eyes that showed no mercy.

He sat behind a heavy desk in a back office that smelled of old blood and cheap smoke. Four guards stood around him, guns out now, fingers on triggers.

On the floor between us lay the body of the idiot I killed at the table. His throat was open from my dagger. Blood still leaked out slow and dark. Killing him was easy.

He reached for Maya first, thought he could grab her hair and drag her away as payment for the money he lost but I moved faster. One step, blade out and slash. He dropped without a sound.
