ROWAN’S POV

I knew they were watching. From the corner of my eye, I saw them — the glances, the murmurs, the half-hearted smiles hiding sharpened tongues.

Our marriage had been the Archer family’s clean-up solution. And now that we were out in public, the whispers followed us like smoke.

“She doesn’t belong in his world.”
“Contract marriage, obviously.”

“He looks annoyed. She looks confused.”
“I give them six months.”

My jaw tightened.

I didn’t care what people thought of me, I’d survived boardroom wars and family betrayals.

But someone talking about me when it came to marriage in a public space, is something I wouldn’t accept.

Her posture was stiff beside me. Chin up, shoulders tense, like she could feel every eye piercing through her skin. I glanced at her, at the way her fingers curled around the clutch bag like it was the only solid thing she could hold onto.

Then I heard it.

"Fake couple. Probably haven't even kissed off-camera."

That was the final push.

I held her tighter.

  • Ties That Bind   THE WEIGHT OF HIS DIVIDED HEART

LUCIA’S POVI stood by the window, arms folded, eyes fixed on the empty driveway. The tea I’d made had long gone cold, untouched on the dining table. The silence in the house was thick, crawling over the walls like a warning. He wasn’t back yet, I checked the time again.10:47 PM.Thames said he was just “stepping out.” No big deal. Just a quick check-in about Piper, or so he claimed. But I knew better. He went to see her.Lia.Her name alone left a bitter taste in my mouth.I heard the front door creak open, and my heartbeat hitched.I didn’t move from my spot. His footsteps were soft deliberate. Like he already knew I was furious.“Lucia,” he said gently.I didn’t turn around. “You said thirty minutes.”“I know. I’m sorry,” he murmured. Still, I kept my back to him.“She needed to talk. About Piper.”I slowly turned to face him, arms still tightly crossed. “She needed to talk? And it had to be you?”He ran a hand through his greying hair. “Lucia, please—”“Please, what? Please let y

  • Ties That Bind   AURORA’S RAGE

AURORA’S POVThe door slammed shut behind me with a force that rattled the picture frames on the wall. I didn’t care.I was still shaking, the sticky feel of red wine clinging to my skin like humiliation I couldn’t wash off not yet. My heels clicked angrily on the marble tiles as I stormed into my apartment, my breath heaving."That bitch," I muttered, yanking off the Hermès bag and tossing it across the couch. “She fucking poured wine on me. Wine! In front of everyone!”Amanda came out from the kitchen, a half-eaten macaron in her hand. “Whoa, whoa. What the hell happened? You’re fuming.”I turned around, chest rising and falling. “Piper’s friend. That little rat. The one with the overly straight bangs and fake Bottega heels. She threw wine on me at the gala.”Amanda blinked. “Wait, Diana?”I nodded, pacing like a caged animal. “Yes! And the worst part? I couldn’t even slap her. Security was already stepping in before I could react.”Amanda sat on the edge of the armrest, licking p

  • Ties That Bind   THOUGHTS

PIPER’S POVI didn’t look back.As soon as Diana left and Rowan disappeared down the hallway, I hurried upstairs and shut the door behind me.I leaned against it for a second, heart pounding, hands slightly trembling. The soft click of the door sounded louder in the silence of the room. My eyes fluttered shut, but it was pointless, all I could see was his face. His lips. That kiss.God.The kiss.I exhaled shakily and crossed the room, dropping my bag on the bed as I sank into the mattress. My fingers brushed my lips before I could stop myself. It was supposed to be for the crowd. A performance. A silent way to say “We’re fine. We’re married. Move on.”But it didn't feel fake. Not even for a second. At first, I was stunned and caught completely off guard. His hand, so gentle under my chin. The way his eyes searched mine like he was daring me to pull away… and when I didn’t…I kissed him back.Without thinking. Without blinking. Without protecting myself. And it wasn’t just his lips

  • Ties That Bind   THE EX-FACTOR

“Excuse me?” I finally managed to say, unsure whether I wanted to slap her or laugh. She smiled wider, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, revealing a pair of Cartier earrings that sparkled obnoxiously under the chandelier light.“Oh, don’t act surprised, sweetheart,” Aurora said, eyes flicking to my dress, then back to my face. “I have a way of knowing things. Rowan and I… go way back.”Her tone was casual, but every word felt like a dagger.Diana stepped forward, protective mode activated. “And why exactly are you introducing yourself now? What’s the point?”Aurora turned her attention to her like she’d just noticed her shoes were a bit too scuffed for this floor.“I just wanted to meet the girl who gets to play Mrs. Archer for now.” Her voice dropped. “It must be fun pretending.”“I’m not pretending,” I said, jaw tightening. She smiled at that—actually smiled. “Sure you’re not.”Then she leaned in just a bit, so close I could smell her perfume again.“But don’t get too

  • Ties That Bind   THE OTHER WOMAN

THE OTHER WOMANHe froze the second he stepped in, the words on his lips clearly forgotten. His eyes swept over me—slowly, from head to toe—then back up again, lingering far too long on the way my dress hugged my waist and the way the soft gold of my skin glowed under the lights. His jaw clenched, then loosened.I didn’t say anything. I could feel the heat of his gaze, like it was slowly peeling away every layer of tension between us.Diana was the first to break the silence. “We’ll wait in the—”Rowan lifted a hand slightly, stopping her. But his eyes remained on me, like he was trying to remember what language was.“Are you… ready?” he finally asked, voice low and—was that a hint of huskiness?I nodded, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. “I’m ready.”Rowan gave a small nod, as if trying to compose himself. “Good. The car’s waiting.”Diana cleared her throat loudly. “So, I guess I’ll take my leave and—”“Actually,” Rowan interrupted, turning to her. “There’s a third ticket. You
