“I don’t think I want to stay away any longer,” I told Mr. Devon after the tension between us seemed to have died down.

And that was exactly how I felt.

“Now is even the worst time to return to the company,” Mr. Devon stated. “The reason this company is not being torn down right now is because of your absence. They will rip you apart if they know that you are back like nothing happened while there is a murder allegation against you,” Mr. Devon added.

I opened my mouth to speak, but it dawned on me that the news of the murder allegation wasn’t out yet.

People only knew that Oscar had been murdered, but Ivy’s accusation wasn’t out in the open yet, or Vector’s admittance to a part of the crime.

“But how can they rip me apart over something they haven’t heard?” I asked Mr. Devon.

He seemed slightly uncomfortable, as though he had said something he wasn’t supposed to say, but he was quick to maintain his composure.

He cleared his throat. “I meant to say that they would rip you apart
