LOGINALEXA
“Let go of her, right now!”
That was Noelle’s voice, and it was what brought me back to reality. Everyone present at the club was now looking at us, and Mark’s hand still held onto my wrist possessively…and painfully.
“Let her go, Mark,” Noelle ordered again when it seemed as though Mark was deaf to her orders.
“Stay out of this,” Mark eventually said, glaring at Noelle. His voice was throaty and husky, and I wondered if it was as a result of what happened between the two of us; if he felt it too, or if it was as a result of his anger.
“Why should I?” Noelle asked, facing Mark fearlessly and boldly.
She had never liked him, and knowing Noelle the way I did, I knew that she would definitely use this opportunity to get at Mark for what he made me go through. She hardly ever saw him, because she could not stand his presence.
“Last time I checked, she was your ex-wife, Mark,” Noelle added.
Mark smirked. “You are mistaken, Noelle,” he simply said, leaving Noelle’s eyes to budge out in shock and confusion, and she turned to me quickly.
“Alexa?” Noelle called out, demanding some sort of answers from me immediately, and I knew that I just had to step in.
I could not continue to just keep quiet and not say a word. Clearly, Mark intended to rile Noelle up, and also, he intended to ruin the fun that we were here to have, and I was not going to allow that to happen.
I snatched my arm away from Mark’s grip and looked at him with bitterness and anger, which wasn’t even hard to do because all he did to me were still fresh and hurtful.
“I divorced you, Mark,” I told Mark, loud enough for Noelle and everyone to hear.
I began to hear some murmurs from the people watching us, but I would not back down. This was a new me, and I intended to let Mark and everyone know this. Looking at Mark now, I could see how cruel, possessive, and selfish he was. This was his ploy to take control, but for the very first time, I would let him know that he had failed woefully.
“I haven’t signed the divorce papers,” Mark said.
He still had that disgusting smirk on his face, and his tone was nothing short of condescending and aggravating, which was just the typical Mark Ronaldo.
“And you will,” I said without flinching or stuttering.
I guessed my tone and the confidence in the sound of my voice took Mark by surprise, because I did catch a flicker of astonishment before it was gone.
“So this is what you intend to do with your life? Get away from me and whore around the city like a loose dog?” Mark asked insultingly.
Rarely had he finished the question before my palm connected with his cheek in a loud smack and everyone gushed in shock. Even Mark was too stunned to respond at first, and I glared at him, waiting and daring him to return the favor.
“You should have just let her be, Mark,” Noelle chipped in. “Now see how embarrassed you have ended up,” Noelle added.
She quickly moved me away from Mark’s presence and stood in my place, so when Mark gazed his eyes upon me again, it was Noelle that he was looking at.
“Alexa is no longer your wife and she is pleased to do whatever she likes with her life. The Dancing Devil is a place for anyone who can afford it, and if you dare try to attack, harass, confront, or even speak to her again, I will have the securities throw you out and demand that the management keep you out of this place for a really long time,” Noelle added threateningly.
With that, without even waiting for Mark to say a word in his defense, she turned to me and led me to our booked chamber, and the ten men who had been hired by Noelle climbed the mini-stage in our chamber and began to entertain us as though nothing had happened.
“You would really do that?” I asked Noelle, because to me, that threat seemed somewhat extreme, and knowing how stubborn and daring Mark was, he might actually take her up on that threat, and if she failed to deliver, it would blow up in our faces.
“I don’t know, and I guess I wouldn’t even need to,” Noelle answered, feeling very proud and accomplished.
“Why?” I asked, almost confused.
“Because your ex-husband has returned to his table with his friends, whom I am certain are going to make jest of him,” Noelle said.
Noelle hardly knew the kind of man Mark Ronaldo was; no matter how badly you came at him, his friends would never have the balls to make jest of the situation or make him feel terrible. I had seen how they were around him a couple of times, and they literally worshipped the ground he walked on, but I decided not to deflate Noelle’s confidence with that piece of information.
“He still hasn’t signed the papers, which means that we are still married, and he is upset because it was his money I spent for all these,” I told Noelle.
“Come on, Alexa, can you stop talking about that asshole for a minute and just focus on what is in front of you?” Noelle asked, referring to the ten men who were gliding and whining sensually. “Look, if you are going to make Mark feel like a piece of shit tonight, you will have to actually ogle these men and do something wild. I bet his eyes are still glued to you,” Noelle added.
I made the mistake of turning to check just to confirm, and true to Noelle’s words, Mark was looking at us, as our eyes connected from our tables apart.
I swallowed and looked away. Then I said to Noelle, “You know what, you are right.”
“Yes, girl, work it!” Noelle said loudly like a drunken woman, urging me on.
With that, I grabbed some money from my purse, climbed up the stage and allowed some of the men to flirt with me while they danced and I sprayed them without a single fuck in the world.
ALEXAI thought I was going to glide down the stairs after missing my step and break my neck, or worse, lose the pregnancy until I felt a firm hand grabbing me and stopping me from falling. It was Ivy.“Are you okay?” She asked me.As I missed a step, my phone fell from my hand, which was also as a result of the shock of the message I received from Donald Shell, but thankfully, it didn’t crack or glide down the stairs.Without waiting for me to give her a response, Ivy helped me to pick up my phone, and then she gave it to me. I was still in so much shock about everything that I snatched the phone from Ivy’s hand in hostility.I didn’t even acknowledge that she had stopped me from a ghastly fall and even picked up my cell phone.“Alexa, are you okay?” Ivy asked me again.Since she returned, I noticed that she rarely came downstairs, or maybe when she did, I wasn’t aware, but she rarely did, and even now, she was careful about being on the stairs with me because anyone might walk in, a
ALEXA“Why isn’t Noelle picking up my calls anymore?” I asked myself.I was getting more frustrated and upset.Noelle was acting way too suspicious and it was upsetting me.I did say I wasn’t going to call her ever again because I felt betrayed by the fact that she was the one who had leaked the news, but after my altercation with Mark, I just needed someone to talk to so badly, and I found myself reaching out for Noelle again.I was still upset, but I just wanted to talk to Noelle.A part of me wanted to know what it was that prompted her to do something like that, and also tell her about what was going on.The doctor called a while later.“Miss Alexa, are you doing okay?” He asked me as soon as the call connected.“Yes, I am,” I answered.Surprisingly, the last couple of hours hadn’t made me lose the baby, but that didn’t mean that I should subject myself and the baby to stress. The doctor already strictly informed me that even mental stress could lead to complications and loss of t
MARKI didn’t continue driving until I was certain that I could. For now, the realization would keep hitting all over again, but right now, I had to focus on other things. As I continued driving, I called Reyna.“Good day, Mr. Mark,” she said as soon as she picked up the call.“I know you are not supposed to be working at this very moment, but this is very important,” I stated.“Is this about Miss Alexa?” Reyna asked.“How did you guess?” I asked, surprised.“I saw the news on the blogs, sir,” Reyna said. “I had no idea that she was pregnant, and neither did Shirley; I just got off the phone with her,” she added. Then who could have leaked the news to the public. It was obvious now that it wasn’t Alexa who told the public about it. Someone else had done it, and now that it wasn’t Alexa’s secretary because she didn’t know, I couldn’t think of anyone else that could have done it.But I became curious to find out instantly.“Okay,” I simply said because I didn’t want to further discuss m
MARKBy the time I left Alexa’s house, I was still fuming with rage, but one thing was clear now; she wouldn’t be able to shut me out any longer. As soon as I drove out, I called Brent.“Hey, Mark,” Brent said as soon as the call connected.“I am glad you could pick up right now,” I said.I knew how busy Brent was, and the day had been very hectic as well. Brent was with me a few hours ago to hand the papers to me, and he already told me that he was very busy, so I was really relieved and grateful that even in the midst of his busy schedule, he could still take my call.“You are more than a client now, Mark,” Brent said.“Great,” I responded. “Do you have a moment?” I asked Brent.“I am trying to grab a sandwich before I head right back into the courtroom, but yes, I think I can spare a moment. As a matter of fact, you are lucky you called when you did,” Brent explained, making me more relieved.“I am glad I did,” I responded.“Have you shown Alexa the paper now?” Brent said.“She did
ALEXAMy heart stopped beating for a moment, and just when I thought I was going to die, it picked up again, but faster this time around. When I saw that the news had broken out, my first thought wasn’t even Mark Ronaldo. I hadn’t even thought of him.My initial thought had gone to Donald Shell, which was why I was too scared to open the door until I heard Mark’s voice, and now, my heart was racing really fast. The restraining order had been revoked and I knew nothing about it.I didn’t take a close look at the paper, but I knew that Mark Ronaldo wouldn’t show up at my door with a fake report from the authorities.“Alexa, open the door!” Mark barked from outside.I jumped frightfully. He hadn’t left.I thought that after slamming the door, he would leave, but he hadn’t. His knocks were louder and more disturbing now and I didn’t know what to do.“I am not going to leave until you open the door and we have a conversation, Alexa. I mean it,” Mark raved angrily.I swallowed hard.Mark wo
MARK“Why isn’t she responding?” I asked myself, knowing that Alexa was in there.Noelle even assured me a few minutes ago that Alexa was in the house.A few minutes before I got here and after I had finished speaking to Vector, Noelle had called me for the first time since I had known her. I knew it was her because I saved her number from the list of things that she had put down for me.“Hi, Noelle,” I had responded, almost forgetting that Noelle and I weren’t friends.“Where the heck are you, Mark Ronaldo?” Noelle had asked harshly. She had used the same tone she always used when talking to me, which was an indication that nothing had changed between us, and that jolted me back to the reality of things.“On my way to Alexa,” I had responded.“I did tell you about her pregnancy three days ago, Mark. Why are you just going to her now?” Noelle had asked me, scolding me like a child.“I had to revoke the restraining order, Noelle, and it’s not usually easy to do,” I had responded.I did
ALEXASeeing Mark at my apartment, especially when I was at his house the night before, surprised me, but the moment he stared deep into my eyes and asked that question, every reason and logic flew out of my head, and the only thing I could think of was Mark kissing me.Mark kissed me, and I abando
MARKI didn’t have an exact expectation aside to see that Alexa was safe and unharmed, but what I didn’t expect was to have her in my arms like this.Alexa held onto me for dear life, and as I held her in return, I could feel her shakiness deep inside, and that alone confirmed my fear.I looked up,
MARK“Are you sure that this is the right move to make?” Clinton asked.Vector was driving us to Donald’s house after Clinton showed us the picture that his private investigator had sent, and this was the third time he was asking this question. He was sitting behind while Vector and I sat in front.
IVY“I haven’t seen you this eager for your doctor’s appointment,” Lina Barry told me.As much as I tried to hide my eager anticipation, I could barely. Since the last appointment, I had been counting the days before the next one.“I am not eager about anything,” I denied.Lina Barry, although bein
