ALEXA

“Let go of her, right now!”

That was Noelle’s voice, and it was what brought me back to reality. Everyone present at the club was now looking at us, and Mark’s hand still held onto my wrist possessively…and painfully.

“Let her go, Mark,” Noelle ordered again when it seemed as though Mark was deaf to her orders.

“Stay out of this,” Mark eventually said, glaring at Noelle. His voice was throaty and husky, and I wondered if it was as a result of what happened between the two of us; if he felt it too, or if it was as a result of his anger.

“Why should I?” Noelle asked, facing Mark fearlessly and boldly.

She had never liked him, and knowing Noelle the way I did, I knew that she would definitely use this opportunity to get at Mark for what he made me go through. She hardly ever saw him, because she could not stand his presence.

“Last time I checked, she was your ex-wife, Mark,” Noelle added.

Mark smirked. “You are mistaken, Noelle,” he simply said, leaving Noelle’s eyes to budge out in shock and confusion, and she turned to me quickly.

“Alexa?” Noelle called out, demanding some sort of answers from me immediately, and I knew that I just had to step in.

I could not continue to just keep quiet and not say a word. Clearly, Mark intended to rile Noelle up, and also, he intended to ruin the fun that we were here to have, and I was not going to allow that to happen.

I snatched my arm away from Mark’s grip and looked at him with bitterness and anger, which wasn’t even hard to do because all he did to me were still fresh and hurtful.

“I divorced you, Mark,” I told Mark, loud enough for Noelle and everyone to hear.

I began to hear some murmurs from the people watching us, but I would not back down. This was a new me, and I intended to let Mark and everyone know this. Looking at Mark now, I could see how cruel, possessive, and selfish he was. This was his ploy to take control, but for the very first time, I would let him know that he had failed woefully.

“I haven’t signed the divorce papers,” Mark said.

He still had that disgusting smirk on his face, and his tone was nothing short of condescending and aggravating, which was just the typical Mark Ronaldo.

“And you will,” I said without flinching or stuttering.

I guessed my tone and the confidence in the sound of my voice took Mark by surprise, because I did catch a flicker of astonishment before it was gone.

“So this is what you intend to do with your life? Get away from me and whore around the city like a loose dog?” Mark asked insultingly.

Rarely had he finished the question before my palm connected with his cheek in a loud smack and everyone gushed in shock. Even Mark was too stunned to respond at first, and I glared at him, waiting and daring him to return the favor.

“You should have just let her be, Mark,” Noelle chipped in. “Now see how embarrassed you have ended up,” Noelle added.

She quickly moved me away from Mark’s presence and stood in my place, so when Mark gazed his eyes upon me again, it was Noelle that he was looking at.

“Alexa is no longer your wife and she is pleased to do whatever she likes with her life. The Dancing Devil is a place for anyone who can afford it, and if you dare try to attack, harass, confront, or even speak to her again, I will have the securities throw you out and demand that the management keep you out of this place for a really long time,” Noelle added threateningly.

With that, without even waiting for Mark to say a word in his defense, she turned to me and led me to our booked chamber, and the ten men who had been hired by Noelle climbed the mini-stage in our chamber and began to entertain us as though nothing had happened.

“You would really do that?” I asked Noelle, because to me, that threat seemed somewhat extreme, and knowing how stubborn and daring Mark was, he might actually take her up on that threat, and if she failed to deliver, it would blow up in our faces.

“I don’t know, and I guess I wouldn’t even need to,” Noelle answered, feeling very proud and accomplished.

“Why?” I asked, almost confused.

“Because your ex-husband has returned to his table with his friends, whom I am certain are going to make jest of him,” Noelle said.

Noelle hardly knew the kind of man Mark Ronaldo was; no matter how badly you came at him, his friends would never have the balls to make jest of the situation or make him feel terrible. I had seen how they were around him a couple of times, and they literally worshipped the ground he walked on, but I decided not to deflate Noelle’s confidence with that piece of information.

“He still hasn’t signed the papers, which means that we are still married, and he is upset because it was his money I spent for all these,” I told Noelle.

“Come on, Alexa, can you stop talking about that asshole for a minute and just focus on what is in front of you?” Noelle asked, referring to the ten men who were gliding and whining sensually. “Look, if you are going to make Mark feel like a piece of shit tonight, you will have to actually ogle these men and do something wild. I bet his eyes are still glued to you,” Noelle added.

I made the mistake of turning to check just to confirm, and true to Noelle’s words, Mark was looking at us, as our eyes connected from our tables apart.

I swallowed and looked away. Then I said to Noelle, “You know what, you are right.”

“Yes, girl, work it!” Noelle said loudly like a drunken woman, urging me on.

With that, I grabbed some money from my purse, climbed up the stage and allowed some of the men to flirt with me while they danced and I sprayed them without a single fuck in the world.

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   The One To Ask

ALEXAMark came earlier than I thought he would, or maybe I even thought that he wouldn’t come to the house at all.Noelle slept over, but she was already out with Shirley to check out a few styles for me while I got ready for my parental class today.Mark walked in just when I finished having breakfast.“Good morning, Alexa,” he greeted.Even though it was his regular work suit, Mark looked dashing as always. Every time I saw Mark, regardless of what he was wearing at that particular time, he always stole my breath away for a millisecond. But I would rather swim in the deepest ocean than let him know that his presence still had an effect on me.“Good morning,” I responded tightly.“Are you ready?” Mark asked.“Yes, I am, but I didn’t think you would come here,” I responded.“The class is for the both of us, Alexa, and so far, I haven’t missed out on any of it, so why would you think that I wouldn’t come?” Mark asked me.I shrugged and said, “You would have gone to the hospital instea

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Battle Ahead

MARK“Mark, are you there?” Vector asked me.Apparently, he had realized that I had zoned out and was no longer paying attention to what he was saying. I couldn’t even tell how much longer Vector had been speaking. My head had been doing a lot of thinking. How would I handle Alexa and Mona at the same time?Mona was determined to get in the way of Alexa and me. Now that she had gone the legal route, there was nothing I could do to stop her. Yes, I was able to get Claudia to postpone our parental class so that I could make the doctor’s appointment with Mona, but for how long? How long would I be able to keep up with that until Alexa gave birth?Even if I was able to manage it, the truth was that it would never stop. Mona would always continue to try, and I knew now that the more her pregnancy grew, the more attention she would seek.I just couldn’t deal with it.Why didn’t Alexa just agree to this?Agreeing to go with me to Versailles for a few months would have bought me some time to

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Crumbling

MARKI waited for Vector at a completely different bar. The Dancing Devils had long been blacklisted by me the moment the owner fell for Donald Shell’s tactics. And I also told Vector never to tell me anything about the club. I didn’t care if it was permanently closed up or Donald Shell was now in charge of it; anything could have happened to it or anyone could be running it for all I cared.Anyway, while I waited, I decided to call Gina back.Since the last time we spoke, I hadn’t had the time to do that. Gina picked up almost immediately. It was a good thing I chose to stay at the reserved area where there was less noise and attention. A man of my class and status shouldn’t be in the same space with some certain persons even though this particular bar was for the elite in the city.“Good evening, Mr. Mark,” Gina greeted the moment the call connected.“Hello, Gina, have I called too late?” I asked her, glancing at my expensive wristwatch. It wasn’t so late at night, but I also knew t

ALEXA“I don’t want you to be mad, Alexa,” Noelle said when she saw the anger in my eyes. “I just want us to have a conversation,” she added.“You have been speaking with Mark,” I accused her bluntly.“Not exactly, just thinking about what you told me,” Noelle said. But a part of me felt as though she was lying to me. As a matter of fact, I had been suspicious of Noelle since the moment she walked in some minutes ago. I couldn’t just shake off the feeling.“And?” I asked, shrugging. That was me trying to control my growing rage.“I don’t think it’s a bad idea if you leave,” Noelle told me.I scoffed bitterly and angrily.Noelle might really think that I was dumb or stupid. Heavily pregnant, yes, but definitely not stupid.“I am serious, Alexa,” Noelle insisted.“Noelle, I don’t know how stupid you think I am, but I am certainly not an idiot,” I told her blatantly.“What are you talking about?” Noelle asked, feigning confusion and ignorance.“Let’s start with how you vehemently never w

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Suspicious Moves

ALEXAI was almost done having lunch for the second time in one afternoon when Noelle showed up.“Here comes the long awaited best friend,” I teased as Noelle made her way to me.Noelle smiled, shaking her head. When she got to the dining table, she plopped herself into one of the seats across from me.“Hey, Alexa, I am sorry I am just coming,” Noelle apologized.“I wonder if this is how you intend to handle our new business, especially now that we have more contracts and clients piling up,” I said, still lightly.Noelle looked deeply at me, noting that there was something light about how I was sounding.“Did something good happen?” Noelle asked me.“We have six more people who sent in emails, seeking contracts, Noelle!” I announced to her happily.Yes, I had wanted Noelle to get here way before now, so much so that I had almost gotten pissed off when she kept delaying, but now that she was here, I wasn’t feeling that way any longer. What mattered was that she was here already.“For r

MARKNoelle was the last person I expected to run into at the hospital parking lot, but the moment the shock wore off, I became worried.“Is Alexa okay?” I asked Noelle, walking over to her.The fury was still in her eyes, but I was more concerned about Alexa’s health more than anything else in the entire universe, including Noelle’s fury.“That was Mona, huh?” Noelle asked. But it was way more than just a question. It was a statement of fact, accompanied by a warning tone. Noelle had obviously seen Mona and I come out of the hospital, and probably even heard the little exchange between us.Or Mona’s firm instructions.“Yes, that was she,” I responded even though the question didn’t call for a response. “How is Alexa? Is she okay?” I asked again, worried that Noelle might have brought Alexa to the hospital.I already knew that I would not forgive myself if anything happened to Alexa or our baby while I was busy with Mona.“Do you even care about Alexa?” Mona asked me bitterly and angr

MARKI stopped for a minute and wondered what the lawyer was doing coming from Mr. Silver’s office. Seeing someone like that only meant one thing; Mr. Silver was ready to either give away his company or bequeath it to someone else.I shook off the thought for a minute and proceeded to his office.“
