IVY

“What for?” I asked her defensively.

“What do you mean what for? If you hadn’t gone to his apartment, I doubt they would be here right now,” she complained in disappointment. “Did the cops find you there?” She asked after a second passed between us in silence.

“Yes, they did,” I answered plainly.

“Gosh, Ivy, have you not learnt anything from me at all?” She began to scold me again. “Now you have put yourself out there!” She added angrily.

“I didn’t tell them anything even though they had a lot of questions to ask me,” I muttered.

Now I wished I had actually answered them, at least, to make her feel more terrible about the situation. It just wasn’t fair that she still didn’t care about Oscar even after knowing that he had been murdered.

“Are you sure?” She asked me worriedly.

“Yes, I am,” I answered, rolling my eyeballs.

“Now I don’t even know if I should take your word for it or not. When it came to Oscar, you just kept lying and sneaking around!” She said disgustedly. “If you had

MARK“Who saw me?” I asked Mr. Devon on our way to the station for the umpteenth time since his last statement but he couldn’t give me a direct response. My heart was beating rapidly; this was becoming more complicated than I anticipated. If someone truly saw me run out of his apartment, they would think that I was responsible in murdering Oscar, and it would be very difficult, almost impossible to prove my innocence.“Fuck, what have I gotten myself into?” I asked myself deep inside. All my life, I never had a police record. I was a good citizen who always abided by the rules and went about my business. There had never been any criminal offenses labeled against me, but since Alexa came into my life, or since I allowed her to walk away, it changed. Was she this vengeful that she would pin a murder on me? A part of me was already thinking that Alexa was the one who wanted to make a confession against me, although how she could have seen me leaving Oscar’s apartment when she was far ou

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Justice For Him

IVY“This wasn’t the plan!” Clara yelled. From the corner of my eyes, I could see her veins popping out of her head; an indication that she was livid.I had taken her by surprise, I knew that, but that was my own plan from the moment she opened her mouth and slandered Oscar while showering undeserved praises to Mark Ronaldo. I was hurt and heartbroken, and I wanted nothing to do with this initially, but I just couldn’t.The entire night, I had felt guilty for not telling the cops what I saw.Oscar didn’t deserve that. Granted, he wasn’t a perfect lover, but I loved him, and when he was in trouble, I was the only person that he could call. He wanted me to help him. He wanted me to save him, but I was too late. Then another opportunity had come for me to fight for him one last time and she wanted to take it away from me. Mark Ronaldo might be the perfect choice, but everyone also needed to know what a monster he was. Everyone needed to know what he did. “You are going to ruin everythi

MARKWaking up and facing a day without purpose just felt meaningless to me. All thanks to Alexa, my diet had been going well so far, but today, I just didn’t feel like having anything. All appetite had been gone since yesterday.I was confused and restless, and since Vector left, it had become worse. Being alone made my thoughts run wild and kept me up at night. There were so many things I could have done differently to avoid this situation, but now, I was right where I should never be in the first place. There was a knock on my bedroom door, and I knew that it was my housekeeper even before I went to open the door.“What is it?” I asked her impatiently.I already said I didn’t want to be disturbed, so I could not understand why she was coming back to my room again today.“Sir, it is almost time for lunch and you haven’t had anything to eat since yesterday,” she said calmly and worriedly. She was a middle-aged woman who was excellent at her job. Ivy could never have picked the right

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Stick To The Plan

IVY“Did you hear what I just said?” She asked me when I stopped but said nothing.I didn’t turn around to loot at her either, so she couldn’t exactly tell my mood. One of the quickest and easiest ways she could get me was looking at my face or staring into my eyes.“We have to keep your name away from scandal, or Mark will have every reason to pull out of the wedding. It is a hard time getting him to commit to you and marry you once and for all as it is now, especially with the silly stunt you pulled the last time,” she added in her most scolding voice. The same voice I was used to hearing my entire life when she wanted me to do this her way.She had always ensured that I saw reasons why I should, which I always did see at the end of the day, and in all fairness, she wasn’t wrong. Since the day she came to me about getting hooked up with Mark Ronaldo, I willingly agreed to it, because I also wanted to be married to a man who was wealthy and influential, and I had been playing by the

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   A Stony Heart

IVYI couldn’t help it even when I tried to walk away. Her words cut deep into my heart and aroused every anger inside of me.She sounded so raw and unsympathetic and it made me sick to my stomach and engulfed in rage. How could she sound like that even when she could clearly see that I had been crying? How could she be so unsympathetic? How could she be so discriminative even in death?I wouldn’t have cared if she referred to someone else. Heck, I would even join her and say nasty things, but not when it came to Oscar, and I couldn’t stand it.I turned around and looked at her, my eyes red with anguish.“Why would you say that, mum?” I asked her angrily. She obviously wasn’t moved by my anger. The look in her eyes told me that she meant every single word that she said and she wasn’t sorry about it.“Because it’s the truth,” she shrugged nonchalantly and said. “Would you rather have me lie to you?” She asked.I walked closer to her and faced her squarely. It was the first time I would
