ALEXA

“Should I ask him to come in?” My secretary asked when I delayed in responding.

“Yes, please,” I quickly responded.

Why wouldn’t I want my dad to come in? I was just shocked to my bones that he was at my store for the very first time. The last time I tried to get through to him was futile, and hearing that he was right here unexpectedly made me very nervous.

I waited with bated breath for him to come in.

He came in and our eyes met, and we just stood there staring at each other for what felt like eternity. There were intense emotions in his eyes that I could not even read.

“Alexa…” he called through rasped breath.

“Dad,” I answered, almost breathlessly.

It was as though we hadn’t seen each other for eternity. The atmosphere was a little awkward, but then again, I didn’t feel the anger and disappointment he had felt about me the last time there was a rift.

“Please, sit down,” I offered and he sat.

Then I also sat down.

One thing I noticed was that he didn’t look angry, but he l

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   The Need For Ego Restoration

MARK“Why would she order for him to be released?” I asked the detective tightly. This wasn’t making any sense to me. First of all, Donald used his bloody influence and power to prevent me from seeing Oscar, which I should have fought back but I didn’t, and now, Alexa had demanded that her attacker be released?“Are you sure she wanted him to be released?” I asked again almost immediately, because I could not seem to wrap my head around it. “But she is already out of the country on tour. When did she give this order?” I questioned further.I knew that I should calm down and give him the opportunity to answer my questions, but I just couldn’t. This was not what I had expected at all.I had expected resistance, and of course, I was very ready to pull my weight, but definitely not this.“She made the request right before she went for her tour,” the detective answered.“But why would she order for him to be released?” I asked again, stirring us back to my first question. The detective shr

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Out For Vengeance

MARKAt first, I thought that Mr. Devon was just kidding, even though I knew that he wasn’t a man that told jokes often, but when I looked at his expression, he seemed very serious about what he just said.“Why should I stay away, Mr. Devon?” I asked him. This was certainly not what I was expecting from him at all. “What you have been accused of is just as criminal as murder, or close. You have been accused of plotting with a man to attack your ex-wife, Mark,” Mr. Devon recounted.“I know what I have been accused of,” I interrupted him impatiently.I hated to get into an argument with Mr. Devon of all people, but then again, this wasn’t something that I wanted to just accept.“And I am innocent,” I added firmly.“We already established that fact, Mark, but until proven otherwise, the public does not share the same sentiment. What you should have done when Alexa decided to file a case against you is ensure that it never gets out to the public,” Mr. Devon said.“And that was because I

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Legal Advice

MARK“Mr. Mark Ronaldo, who happened to be the savior of his ex-wife, Miss Alexa, when she was attacked, has been accused of actually perpetrating the act. Her attacker confessed to being hired by Mr. Mark Ronaldo, and Miss Alexa, although now on a tour with one of the city’s most popular pop-stars, has decided to file a case against Mr. Mark. It looks like Paris is going to have some drama when Miss Alexa gets back.”That was the blog news I woke up to. I was enraged, because the lie was spreading, and it shouldn’t be. I might have taken this whole situation for granted, but now, I realized that Alexa was more than ready for war. No one else would have released this to the pubic except her. The cops have no business engaging the blogs about what goes on in their station.“You have got to be kidding me,” I muttered to myself. This wasn’t a good dent on my image and reputation and it seemed as though my silence had been taken for granted. Initially, I didn’t take any drastic actions b

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Like Father Like Daughter

MARKI stopped for a minute and wondered what the lawyer was doing coming from Mr. Silver’s office. Seeing someone like that only meant one thing; Mr. Silver was ready to either give away his company or bequeath it to someone else.I shook off the thought for a minute and proceeded to his office.“Mark Ronaldo, it is such a pleasure to see you,” Mr. Silver said as he ushered me to sit.He poured into two glasses some wine and handed me a glass. One of the men in the city of Paris that I admired a lot was Mr. Silver. We barely got to see each other often, because over the years, he had stopped attending most social functions, and also, our companies didn’t deal on the same thing. However, I had always known that he was a man of integrity and honor, which was why he never really got to the top of the business ladder. He was always so welcoming and cordial even though he might not have anything to benefit from me. It was the respect that I had for his personality and the trust in him tha

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   One Man She Listens To

MARKAlexa wanted to press charges against me.It sounded so unreal even as I thought about it in my mind. Images of Alexa when we were still married flashed through my mind. She was meek and submissive. She rarely talked back at me or even had the nerve to look at me in the eye.The first time she ever displayed any level of audacity was the day that she asked for a divorce.“And that is when you should have acted very fast,” a voice in my head mocked me.It had just been the both of us that day when Alexa had blurted that she wanted a divorce. However, I allowed my ego and pride get in the way, and that was because I believed that she couldn’t stick to her words. Since I got out of coma, Alexa was always there; taking care of me, tending to my needs, ensuring the smooth running of our home, and nurturing me to sound health, and all the while, she portrayed an attribute of a calm woman who didn’t have a voice of her own.I had taken her for granted.Thinking about everything that wa
